Sadly if your autosave is corrupted too you gotta start over and do some things differantly.

Seems like it worked to some part. If it constantly freezes you could re-attempt several times. If it keeps freezing even after three or more times in a row you may try clearing your cache (go to system settings, to memory, highlight hard drive, press Y, and you will be able to perform maintenance) and perform maintenance on your hard drive. This will refresh all data for FNV and delete any patches. Try it without the patch (that's right you will be signed out) and if it freezes again then there is more than likely no fix. If you want to take no as an answer you can try to install the game and try again with that.

Either way the game is broken and any fixes seem to have no affect. You could wait for a patch (I say screw and get your money back which is what I'm doing) or get rid of it... which I kind of already said in parenthesis. I guess I didn't think that one out much. Or try a new disc works too. I'm on my second disc (thank god for warranties) and I'm not having any better of a time.

They already released a patch for Steam version which supposedly fixed a lot of the issues with this game... apparently. That means there could be a console patch within the next few days.
