What is your biggest gaming confession?

Takes a deep breath...

I prefer Thief: Deadly Shadows to Thief 1 & 2 - simply daren't show my face on the TTLG forums.

The first Farcry to the later ones - preferred the cheesy sci-fi story

Fallout 3 over New Vegas - the environment was so deadly dull I couldn't get more than a few hours into it

I've never role played in an RPG - it's just me trying out being a thief, assassin or hero or whatever

I only ever did the main quest in Morrowind, never joined any of the factions etc

Never did the main quest or Shivering Isles in Oblivion, or most of the guilds

Never did the main quest or dlc in Skyrim, and only one of the guilds

I never bothered learning how to enchant gear or make spells

Been adding mods to Skyrim for the past two years to make the ultimate game - but never actually start a game

Ditto with Morrowind and Oblivion - just occasionally go for a wander

Quite liked the ending to ME3

Hated the combat so much in DA: Origins that I got a cheat mod. Then abandoned the game. Then decided to get the GOTY edition to give it another try. Never got round to it. Then got the free copy on Origin. So I now own three copies of a game where I hate the combat.

There's so much more dirty laundry but that's enough for now.

I decided to look this up. I believe I just busted one of my lungs.

But on topic:

- I've never played a Legend of Zelda game

- I did not enjoy Half Life 2

- I didn't mind Mass Effect 3's ending after the extended cut. I also like the Control ending the most

- I played countless hours of Dynasty Warrior only on a Jampack demo disc

- I played Crystal's Pony Tale on the Sega Genesis

Fine.

DA:O is overrated due to its awful art design, mind-numingly boring combat (especially when playing as a warrior), excessive dungeon-crawling, cliche companions, and unengaging main plot.

I'm a filthy casual. To my core. I have arguments with my friend who does GB's and watches tournaments on Twitch because I lament taking games that seriously.

Sometimes I watch twitch streams of people playing flight simulator just so that I can not tell them when i see them make a fundamental error, then sit back and enjoy when it has snowballed and they haven't noticed until 10 minutes later when they lose control. It makes me chuckle. I know, I'm a sad man.

Well the copy I have is use so I had to:

Buy the adventures pack so now I can play any race in any alliance.

I've added the Imperial Edition so now I've unlocked the Imperial Race, I might play as one in a future playthrough.

Oh and lastly I bought the Thieve's Guild on top of Osirium and Imperial City DLC.

Yeah those Crowns packs I bought didn't come cheap, but it's worth it I think since I enjoy the game so much.

That reminds me, I've spent far, far too much money on all sorts of random gaming tat. Recently a load of Bioshock crap, though I think Mass Effect and its endless stream of lithographs was probably the biggest outlay (though even I eventually stopped buying them as it started getting quite silly).

And talking of tat, I think somemost people disapprove of the Sera tattoo. lol etc.

I liked the first BioShock (though I haven't finished it), didn't play the second one or Infinite. Is Infinite good?

If it makes you feel any better I've spent over $400 on Morrowind over the years. And about the same amount on Oblivion. Like you, I think it's worth it because I enjoy the games so much.

Nope, Infinite is overrated.

The story makes no sense ("lol u r dum" comments inbound), it's much more linear than previous games and is pretty short tbh.

The combat is still good, the small amount of exploration will make you wonder why they didn't put more in and the second Burial at Sea DLC will just demonstrate why Rapture was so much better than Columbia.

The Clash in the Clouds DLC is decent for messing around with the combat for a while.

Overall, it was way overhyped and overrated at release, but provided you keep your expectations in check, you should generally enjoy the experience (depending on how much it cost you too).

It holds it's own, I enjoy the atmosphere of the game and scenes like:

and

It's the major reason why Infinite is my favorite game of all times ^_^.

I have zero expectations for it and it should be fairly cheap now, so I think I'd be good with it, lol! Seems kind of "Steampunkish". Is that description accurate?

I think it's less "steampunkish" than Bioshock 1 or 2 tbh.

I mean, I guess they all are, so yeah it is. :/

I'm not American, so all of the symbolism with "the founding fathers" and all that crap, meant absolutely nothing to me. Sure, I know history, but I don't feel anything at all for American (USA) History. And speaking of that, it's quite American History X in it's depictions of racism and injustice.

You see, as a European, we have racism here too, but it's really nowhere near as deeply rooted or venomous as it is in the US, which is shocking given how most people in the US are immigrants anyway.

So yeah, Bioshock Infinite probably means a lot to anyone who grew up in the United States. I dunno, it just feels contrived to me. :/

Only I learned from Bioshock Infinite was Wounded Knee (which I've already knew about) and The Boxer Rebellion, I never even heard of that and looking it up was even more confusing as what really happened and went on.

Opposite for me. I already knew of the Boxer Rebellion, but the Wounded Knee stuff went right over my head.

I can only think of one, because I've already confessed them all over the years. I enjoy gaming while under the influence of a certain substance which is medically-legal in the state of Maryland, but hasn't become fully legal. :hehe: I can't even begin gaming unless I've partaken a bit.

I probably haven't gamed completely sober since 2007, when I was jobless and too tummy-sick / stressed out to partake. Only game I played during that particular period was Sims: Castaway on Playstation 2. It's one of the only games in which the player doesn't have to worry about dying.

I like to fast travel (been doing since Kings Quest 3 in 1988). I spent most of Oblivion wearing a 100% chameleon enchanted armor. The Institute is my favorite FO4 faction. Haven't played FO1,2 or Tactics - they are in my steam library though. Enjoyed Sims 3 more than 2. Didn't like Dragon age origins (only one I played.) - regret buying it - completed it with a mod with overpowered weapons.

I must admit, I expected better from you. Never played a Legend of Zelda game? I find that bizarre at best.

I was very indifferent to Half-Life 2 and I've never played the first one.

I liked Mass Effect 3's Ending before the Extended Cut (and afterwards too), and it was one of the best "consider the ethics/outcome" problems that video games inflicted upon me last gen (DX:HR too). I paused the game and pondered it for ages, and I came to the conclusion that I had to end the Reapers forever, no matter the cost. For the preservation of all organic life, I will stop them and so I destroyed them.

I bought a Wii U for Hyrule Warriors and the game is just liquid fanservice poured into my brain. I love it. I'd KILL for a proper sequel and the N3DS BS should GTFO. I want the Zelda universe to look amazing on my Wii U, something Nintendo seems mostly uninterested in pursuing.

Never owned a Mega Drive. I was indoctrinated to the rival faction in that war (and we won :P ).

As a more general rant, can I just say something about all of you people whining about Dragon Age : Origins?

I love you.

I endured that crapfest on my 360, it didn't even seem to know what it wanted to be (RTS, TBS, real action...) and I wasted near enough £100 buying that crap and it's crappy DLC.

And, you know, the whole deal with Morrigan and her "dark god" baby that she wants. That was one conversation where if she had given a genuinely good reason, I'd be okay with it, but she didn't and she is a really poorly-written character. I asked my friends who played DA2 and Inquisition what happened with Morrigan (DA:O put me off the series for life) and they say that is still not properly explained and she only showed up in Inquisition for a couple of minutes.

Needless to say, it is one of the most disappointing games I've ever played, especially considering the cost.

I liked it a lot: my favourite of the series, as I mentioned a while back. It's not without its flaws but I found it less claustrophobic than the first two, and preferred the overall vibe. I rather liked the story and the way it concluded.

I'm slightly more ambivalent about the two part Burial at Sea DLC: they were a lot of fun but didn't totally make sense, revised some bits that were best left alone and were obviously a bit of a case of whimsy on Levine's part. I guess it's safest to just view them as their own thing: they're worth playing, but kind of at the expense of Infinite rather than adding to it.

Bah! The story was awful. You cannot "solve" infinity, because by it's very definition, it is infinite.

Infinity = Infinity. Eternally. Forever.

The ending does not make sense. Even if all infinity was eradicated from branching out at that one very particular point in time, every single microsecond prior to it could eternally spawn another amount of infinite possibilities, which turns the "ending" into a pointless action at best.

And if the ending is supposed to be symbolic of an infinite amount of that event taking place in all possible realities, forever, then it is, in and of itself, amoral at best, and still prone to total failure.

By the very definitions of the universe and reality that the game itself establishes, it hangs itself and it's entire central plot. But people think it's "mind-blowing" or "like the Matrix".

It's like a fistful of Ken Levine's effluent smeared in your face whilst you're being told that you like it and it all makes sense.

Yeah, I didn't like it... >_>
