What's your character's loadout?

Post » Sat Dec 19, 2015 7:10 pm

As in, what weapons do your characters carry with them into battle. Feel free to describe the Legendary Modifiers, and even whatever you named them. For my characters:

Doomgal: Extended Ripper, Explosive 10mm Pistol, Sawed-Off Shotgun (Calibrated Receiver + Sawed Off Barrel = killer point blank crits), Combat Shotgun (Le Fusil Terribles from Libertalia), Automatic Plasma Rifle (Experiment 18-A), Minigun, Missile Launcher (+50% damage to animals), and a Fat Man. Not sure how much closer I can get to the DOOM loadout than this, and it's really hard to spread out my perks between five different weapon types, but it's actually a lot of fun. The hardest part is finding good legendary versions of each gun.

Pirate Queen: Shishkebab, Explosive Pipe Revolver Pistol, Laser Musket, and the Broadsider. Not to mention enough explosives to sink Spectacle Island. 6-Crank Laser Musket is still surprisingly competitive with my other weapons despite full perks in Gunslinger and Big Leagues and nothing in Rifleman. But the real fun is in the bombs. If I can't order an artillery strike somewhere, I've usually got one in my pocket.

Astronaut: 10mm Pistol, Laser Rifle, Laser Musket, Plasma Pistol, and Gauss Rifle (the Last Minute). <3 energy weapons.

I really tried to use a variety of weapons but ended up only running with 4. I am do have Rifleman maxed and Gunslinger almost maxed. I also have a number of other sneak, sandman, and luck based damage perks. I just can't find anything that works better at this point.

  • Deliverer. Low AP usage, fast and handy for softer targets.
  • 2-shot .45 Rifle. While there is a more powerful receiver I have just left this maxed otherwise. I could use the more powerful receiver now. I left it at .45 for ease of ammo, which is not really necessary any more. Other than the receiver this weapon is maxed for components.
  • Endless Gauss. Components are maxed. I might swap out for a 2 shot if I find one.
  • A special tooth melee weapon.
  • Random explosives I find while exploring. I don't really carry any on purpose, just use what I find in the field.

During the first 100 or so hours of play, I wanted to try a lot of different stuff, but I've now kind of settled into my 'standard' gear set.

Apparel

Vault suit upgraded to top tier = 20 Energy Resist 25 Rad

All armor modded to Shadowed, Ultralight

AP regen+ combat cuirass

INT & CHR + combat helm

STR & END + leg (combat or leather)

+2 Luck arm (Nanofilament synth)

+10% speed leg

-15% dam by human arm

Weapons:

"Liberty" Legendary Revolutionary era sword that cost 1/4 less AP and has a stun pack 20 B and 25 E damage

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=748IjOdrjwg&list=PL7C7022C53E428786&index=4 fully modded Incendiary combat shotgun

"Presario" fully modded legendary laser rifle (+15% crit)

"Dr. Doom" legendary gauss rifle equipped as recon sniper, +75% movements speed while aiming.

20 Frag Grenades

20 molotovs

10 mines

~100+ Stimpacks

20 Ultra Jet

20 Jet Fuel

10 Psychojet

5 Radaway

5 Rad-X

5 Bufftats

1 to 4 Buffout

various other food items (in small quantities) such as the mirelurk cakes that allow you to breath underwater, Squirrel Stew (if I have any at the time), Mutant Hound Chops, Refreshing Beverage. I generally try to have every possible "buff" covered with at least one thing.

Can generally leave base at about 125 or less ENC value.

Lvl 50 stealth character. Max Rifleman, Gunslinger, Ninja, Sneak, but haven't added Sandman or the Luck one yet.

I routinely carry Deliverer (silenced) and recently added a silenced, max-modded-but-non-Legendary Gauss rifle. Before that I used a .308 silenced combat rifle. Various (too many, really) grenades and mines which I rarely think to use. Plus whatever that sacrificial dagger is called.

I run either a full suit of polymer combat armor modded for ultra-light or chameleon as appropriate, or power armor with a Stealth Boy mod, depending on where I'm going and what I expect to face.

I was thinking last night that it's time I stopped carrying frag grenades and save the weight because they do so little damage compared to my bullets.

I am currently level 60 playing on legendary. The following is my current load out. Nothing is legendary, just basic gear.

Weapons:

#1 - 10mm auto pistol (39 damage)

#2 - .38 auto pipe rfile (28 damage)

#3 - .45 night-scope sniper rifle (35 damage)

#4 - .308 recon sniper rifle (92 damage)

Armor:

#1 - Standard combat helmet

#2 - Everything else is light combat armor

I think my armor rating is 65.

I decide to do a crafting guy. I have put all my points into it, whenever I can. Just short of level 40 so I have another set of perks to finish in Gun Nut, Armorer and Science. My stuff is very nice and tricked out as far as I can.

Couple of snipers, a .50 and a 6 crank Laser Musket. Totally tricked out with long Recon Scopes.

An assault rifle with a medium scope. The workhorse. I will build a BAR soon with the 4th Gun Nut perk. A Combat Rifle in .308, and it will help out the workhorse.

I have several OP shotguns and I use the 50% extra Robot damage one most of the time. Good room clearer. A Combat Rifle in .45, which will become the BAR is useful too here.

A Stunning Super Sledge, just for fun really but does beat down stuff real good.

The Kneecapper Pipe Rifle I found, and modded from a .45, to .38 Auto. It has a 20% chance to cripple and hosing stuff down with the most common ammo in the game changes everything. Big fast stuff is comedy now.

A tricked out set of T60e with Fast legs, serious AP Regen, Bracers and a Sensing Helmet complete the Professional's package.

Mostly just sell drugs, seldom use em', some stimpacks once in a while. All on Survival of course.

No VATS ... ever.

I almost always carry the same three weapons. They're all legendary versions of the same guns that I've been using for most of the game. For the record, I'm level 71, and I have SPECIAL as well as all of the relevant perks such as Gun Nut, Rifleman, etc. maxed out.

I've got the Tinker Tom Special, fully modded. It's a suppressed .50 Recon Sniper Rifle that increases VATS accuracy at the expense of using more AP. I'm still looking for a legendary two shot or explosive sniper rifle though. Once I do, that'll be getting swapped in.

My main gun that I use for the majority of conflicts is the Overseer's Guardian, which is a legendary two shot combat rifle. For mid-range combat and general use, I'm yet to find a better gun. Mine's fully modded and is a total beast.

For close range combat, and particularly for ghouls, I have a legendary VATS Enhanced Advanced Combat Shotgun. Again, fully modded. I have a few other legendary combat shotguns though, and I think I'm going to be swapping this one out soon. The enhanced VATS accuracy is nice, but I think a legendary version with added damage would be a lot better.

I also usually carry about a dozen each of 2 different grenade types. I typically carry frag grenades and molotov cocktails, but I switch them up sometimes.

I sometimes swap out the Tinker Tom Special with my fully modded gauss rifle if I want to carry an insanely powerful sniper rifle at the expense of a heavier carry weight. If I have reason to believe that I'll need some much greater firepower, I'll bring my legendary Lucky Quad Barrel Missile Launcher, or the legendary Big Boy Fatman. I don't often carry these though just because the carry weight is so high.

First couple hundred hours, carried everything plus kitchen sink.

Now on 5-6th play through (never did full game before restarts), just carrying
-10mm suppressed until i find 10mm explosive version
-combat rifle .308 sniper w/long recon scope, suppressed
-spray n'pray for CQC, mobs of ghouls
-assault rifle as 'main' 80% of time gun, also until find explosive legendary version

After 200+ hours, I noticed 98% of all my gun use was these 4 kinds of weapons. Everything else was 2% situational so this playthrough i am just paxking 4 guns, and have also dropped my obsessive need to loot every scrap, abraxo box, and dead road kill. I just use the effectively unlimited purified water farm caps to buy all the shipments i need and loot only 3 things, ever:

-legendary effect gun only if better than one of 4 i carry, mostly prefer just explosive or powerful affix
-useful chems: radaway, radx, stimpacks - all others dont even bother, dont need it even on survival mode
-ammo

just hit level 40

army fatigues +1STR +1AGI

army helmet +1PER

patrolmans sunnies +1PER

black ops chest piece, ultralight, sturdy polymer combat armour. +1STR +1END

lucky leather left arm, deep pocketed, sturdy studded leather. +2LUCK

powered combat right arm, deep pocketed, sturdy polymer combat armour. increases action point refresh rate

sprinters combat left leg, deep pocketed, sturdy polymer combat armour. 10% movement speed

fortifying combat right leg, deep pocketed, normal polymer combat armour. +1STR +1END

-deliverer, great for weak targets (i have rifleman perks no others so doesnt do much damage) especially ghouls, very fast fire rate, even without perks is deadly with my 5.3x sneak attack (more when i bother getting deacons thing). good looking gun too which IMO is rare in FO4 and yeah well ppk coolness. kept short barrel and normal mag for looks.

-overseers guardian, suppressed, 308, reflex sight. main go to weapon

-sniper rifle, 50cal, suppressed, short recon scope (long is far too much to use inside and urban) has neverending legend prefix but is kinda pointless for a sniper rifle

-combat shotgun, reflex sight, no muzzle mods to keep range. for big targets (as in size like behemoths, deathclaws etc) destroys them as they get the full load of buckshot. dont need suppressed as if im using this for other than big targets ive already been found.

keep an armoured red dress, fashionable sunnies and militia hat on me for charisma

Vault suit with heavy combat armor. No helmet because evidently putting one on magically makes one go bald. So I wear a militia hat or a formal hat.

Overseer's Guardian chambered .308, med scope, silenced, marksman stock. Might've added a long light barrel, can't remember.

10 frag grenades or molotovs, whatever strikes my fancy.

1 Nuke mine. Because large booms make me happy.

Explosive 10 mm pistol. Large quick eject mag, comfort grip I think, tactical circle, silenced, rest are dmg mods.

Don't even need the pistol to be honest, don't remember the last time I used it.

I named this character Mia, because I am sort of MIA after over 200 hours of play ;)
My main weapon is a Violent Combat Rifle (+25% damage and +25% more limb damage) that she's modified. Its name is 'Charlie Foxtrot'. Calibrated powerful receiver, long ported barrel, recoil compensating stock, large quick eject mag, short night vision scope, suppressor. It kills bugs dead.
I like it because everyone has .45 ammo for sale and my OCD has me carrying 1500 rounds at a time and shooting at just about anything that moves.
(Sorry, I couldn't tell which one was the synth so I just shot both of them)
My long range weapon is named "Zero" it's a .308 suppressed sniper rifle with a long recon scope, calibrated powerful receiver, long ported barrel, marksman's stock, and large quick eject mag. It has the legendary trait 'Lucky' so critical damage is twice as much and the meter fills 15% faster. So even without ninja, sneak attacks with it do 4x damage.
My X-01 Mk Vi armor is all leaded with calibrated legs, a stealth boy torso, and a targeting helmet. You know, because radiation has damned teeth in F4 and I just want to ignore it. Also I sneak everywhere in power armor and then pop out in Agatha's Dress, a militia hat, and black rimmed glasses to flash smiles at the locals. I find it quite fun ;) I have a double shot assault rifle I never use. Maybe I should sell it? Might make more inventory room for duct tape and desk fans.

I just started my fourth character. So far I have ended up with the same load out for weapons after trying them all at various times.

10mm pistol converted over to .45 via a mod, Long Light Ported Barrel, Sharpshooters Grip, Large Quick Eject Magazine, Reflex Sight (circle), Muzzle Brake, with incendiary ammo. I used explosive ammo for a while until I accidentally killed a traveling merchant, and her entire posse, by mistake while shooting at a Super Mutant that was attacking them.

Laser Pistol for when high damage is needed in tight quarters. Overcharged Capacitor, Improved Short Barrel, Sharpshooters Grip, Reflex Sight, Fine Tuned Beam Focuser, Incendiary.

Laser Rifle for long range. Overcharged Capacitor, Improved Long Barrel, Marksman Stock, Long Recon Scope, Fine tuned Beam Focuser, Incendiary.

If I know I'm going to run into a Boss mob I will take a Mini gun along.

Armor tends to stay the same with Heavy Combat Armor. The clothing option changes depending on my characters personality (Role play wise). Character one is in her Vault suit. Character two is in Dirty Army Fatigues and helmet modded to show a Urban camo pattern. Character three is in the BOS uniform. Character four is in Daisy Duke shorts with a Gingham top and Minutemen hat topped of with light leather armor. Early levels for character four so that might change.

Power Armor tends to get reserved for when I know tough fight is coming. Or, I need to loot a lot of heavy stuff. If I do need Power Armor I go for the T-60 set because I like its looks over the other variants.

@JillTanith
Energy weapons seem strange to me in this one. Nuclear Physicist helps a lot but it seems sneaking goes out the window when you have a beam of light pointing straight at your target when you shoot. Can that be mitigated later? Tried it on earlier characters but was very frustrated.
