What's Your Crazy Fallout 4 Moment?

Post » Sun Feb 07, 2016 4:26 am

Mine is kind of a glitch, but still funny. I was running around Concord and I came across a guy by a cooking station, he said he had really bad gas and to stay away, so I asked him about what he ate and he said he got the canned meat from this one place I can't remember the name of. I go there and ask the guy about it and he said something about things in the lower floor of his building I thought "what the heck can't be that hard to get rid of them" well turns out there was Feral Ghouls in there and quite a lot. I ended up leaving to go out and get my perks up before I go back. I came across a base belonging to the ruthless Mercenary gang called The Gunners, before even getting to the main gate of the base one of them ends up shooting a mini nuke at me and I don't even have time to move and boom I'm dead. It now begins to reload the last autosave, which was at that EXACT spot where I was mini nuked. It finishes reloading the autosave and before even I could move I'm dead again by a mini nuke as the explosion seemed to match it. It reloads two more times and once again I get blown up two more times. Finally on the 5th try I manage to get away from that mini nuke cycle, I run into this area that has a few trees and a Blood Bug stabs me in the head and I'm dead with a full bar of health not even a chance to pull my heavily modded 10mm out. It reloads I get away from the mini nuke cycle again, but this time I run the other way and almost die from Mirelurk attacks. I got away from the Mirelurks with 2 bars of health left, and finally fast traveled to Sanctuary. This was one of the craziest things I dealt with in a Fallout game. Whats your crazy Fallout 4 moment?

I rescued strong and that other guy by circling thr tower in a Vertibird machine gunning the mutants and the boss. Using my pip boy i set a course directly over the tower and quickly pressed X to make it land on top.

Basically skipped tons of work.

Had to deal with them on the way down absailing using the window cleaning ledge

Talking to one of the settlers at some farm near Super mutant heaven (satellite array) when a Vertibird lands on us. The settlers body exploded while his head took off into space.... All the while BOS knights started screaming "AD VICTORI-HAM" and shooting at mutants in the background. I just kept staring at the ever flying head until it was gone.

I know the exact place where the blood bug stabbed you in the head. Been there. I was level 100+ and I play with HUD off so I don't know what's attacking me until I loot it's corpse.

So I just finished cleaning up the outside of the gunner building and was heading to Fallon's to get me 3 mininukes the hard way. I was trying out the Survivor's Special so I was keeping my health low for the bonus damage. Scared of nuthin'. Then comes a bug. I'm level 100+, granted with minimal armor playing on survival, but I didn't consider it a threat. After about 10 laser hits and it's right on me, I find out its legendary. Got my blood svcked once and died.

I only manually save now and I was lucky I just saved. Figured the cause of death was low health, so back I went with a bigger gun. Another single-svck death.

The next time, after failing to kill it, I ran. Toward that open air building on the way to Fallon's. Luckily for me, and unluckily for them, there were two BOS there. So while the bug deaded the BOS, horribly, I felt bad, I was busy filling it with lead and finally killed it when it was in stabbing range. Landed at my feet. If I remember right, it was a Legendary Vampiric Bloodbug. That thing was no joke.

I remember a nice little unique moment when I knew this game was epic. I was wondering around with Valentine, just looting for parts for my settlements and weapons, just walking around everywhere (amazing what you see when just walking around everywhere). And I see a few Raiders ahead, I enter stealth mode, grab out my sniper rifle, and I hear a bit if chit chat :unsure2:...

The Raiders shot just one bullet at me then there health bar turned green, I was like 'um...undercover BOS agents maybe'. Nope, actual Raiders, and Valentine having a pleasant conversation with them. Im sure I heard them apologize and thank valentine for a past job. I cautiously walk by them, they didn't attack, and I continued stretching my legs. Just a little moment like t hat blew my mind.

Fighting against one Queen Mirelurk and two glowing deathclaws at the same time, is one of many epic moments :)

My first post vault111 indoor fight. Sateltite Array Olivia (?).

Sneaking quietly into the building, listening to two raiders chatting just around the corner. It sounds like they're walking away. WRONG. I turn the corner and we're all face to face.

It was so shocking I reflexively clicked as I backpedaled. But my mouse ride up a bit as I clicked and ended up blasting both raiders heads off with one shot.

Barely had time to let out a WOOP of victory when, from behind their falling bodies leaps their pet attack dog, who manages a crippling attack on my head.

Backpedaling with blurred vision and a targeting reticle as wide as my screen. Both shots spet on my shotgun, I bash with it, staggering the mutt, and then dog meat swoops in an finishes the job.

Probably the most epic Fallout battle I've ever had happened just earlier this week. Just got the loan wanderer perk at level 72, and thought I'd take a look at what's been happening over at the Boston airport. Turns out the BOS was building a new "Prime" weapon and they weren't terribly happy when I discovered their plan. Some very heavy laser fire flak sent me running for nearby cover in the broken planes. After sniping a few from there, they out and out gang rushed me to the point that I was driven back to the beach. Having no cover there I decided to swim across the harbor to my main base which is at Nordhagen and recuperate. This is my largest settlement with 26 settlers living in the OPS center which is a 11 story high rise steel monolith, (swimming pool in the basemant!) A few of the power armored Knights keep strafing at me from their side of the harbor and I can see pock marks forming on the side of my OPS building. NOT GOOD. I don't generally go with a Fatman, but this was one of those circumstances that required heavier firepower.

Ran into the armory, pulled "Big Boy" off the shelf, went back out to beach and let her rip. Unfortunately my weapon range was just a bit short, so the blast just blew the knights off their feet, and kind of stunning them. I smiled, thinking, well that will send them back to their HQ, cause we're far enough apart that they can't get me back in their sights. I was sort of right... they stomped off, and I started to swim back across the harbor to see what loot I might find. Got about 3/4 of the way there and suddenly I hear the drone of a Vertibird. I turn and the Vertibird is circling Nordhagen, and strafing the complex. Total chaos, settlers are running around returning fire, explosions everywhere, the whole scene making the previous firefight look mighty small in comparison. The Vertibird circles the main tower and then suddenly loses stability, and crashes right into the side of the building! I swim back as fast as I can, but aside from the previous flak damage the building is not damaged. The wreckage itself is in the water, still burning on the ocean floor.

Then the true horror sets in. I run inside the OPS center and realize my worst fears. All of the hand placed items in Piper's office, and in Curie's extensive lab are strewn about on the floor, the result of the concussion from the explosion. It took me countless hours to place them, and replace them until they stopped falling through the tables.

Heavy sigh, as I realize I have been ultimately defeated. Reload.......

i came across a park type area where there were protectrons on parade. i initialized the parade sequence and they're marching around, showing off their stuff when a legendary deathclaw of the albino persuasion decides to join the parade. we lost 2 good protectrons that day but the deathclaw didn't make it either. and i just sat back and watched the show! i didn't get any xp for it either, dammit!

I just finished rescuing someone (not in a spoiler free thread here so I don’t want to say who) in a church when he says as part of the dialog “I wanted to thank you. This world is overwhelming…”

Now why is that a crazy moment? During the conversation I am facing a window and outside a BOS vertibird is in combat with a group of somethings. I am getting random experience points for what I guess they killing. Now the killer part.

During that part of the conversation, you can see the vertibird spinning out of control and then it explodes right on cue after the person says “This world is overwhelming…” I barely had the sense to record that clip as I was laughing so hard.

This thread should probably be in the Spoilers section. DragonSamurai, is there any way you can request to have it moved?

Anyway, you've all mentioned some really funny Uh Oh moments, and I've enjoyed reading them! Thanks for sharing. DragonSamurai, you definitely need to check your cologne -- you're attracting far too much ttention as you wander about!

Spikeydale, I've never had Raiders turn green. I didn't even know that was a possibility! Nice find.

Rexx, sorry 'bout those items. Pesky Vertibird, messing up all your hard work! By the way, I LOVE your "LOAN Wanderer".

As for me, my two biggest Oh Sh... moments involve Suiciders. In the first, I was working with my first character and she couldn't have been more than level 6 or so. Virtually everything in the game was still new to me. She was facing her first ever set of Super Muts and was barely able to hold on. Suddenly she heard that tick-tick-tick, but had no idea whatsoever what it was. Within seconds, however, she found out. BOOM. Immediately followed by the CHING of a trophy ding! Up until then, I didn't even know there was a trophy for that!

The second was when my character (a different character who is quite familiar with SuperMuts and their devious ways) faced down not one, not two, not three, but four Suiciders (along with their dogs and friends) one right after another. She barely got a scratch out of that encounter. Guess she learned from her predecessor :).

Crawling through the downtown warzone. Sneaking down a long alleyway when two leveled super mutants walk across the T intersection at the end of the alley. Nowhere to hide so I have to maximize the damage quickly.

Equip Overseers Guardian, lob a grenade, drop into VATS... But the first target VATS picks up is the grenade. I'm watching delightfully as it sails slowly between the mutants.

"Sure, why not".

Target the grenade, then each mutant head, then execute. Beautiful slow mo grenade explosion right a eye level of the mutants. Slow mo hit animation just before their heads explode from the follow up shots, first one, then the other.

Couldn't have had better cinematically if it was in The Matrix

I bet that was a lot of fun, I personally prefer a fully modded baseball bat, because it's inexpensive and powerful.

I suppose my latest was a Yao Guai Dogmeat and I stumbled on by surprise while he was sniffing Kellogg's trail. I went into VATS with my sniper rifle, and on the final shot that killed him, he went flying about 100m meter over a nearby cliff. This seems to be a VATS related glitch that happens now and then, but I've never seen a more spectacular result than that.

With enemies having mini nukes in Fallout 4 it really makes you want to save often, as at least in my case they kill me in one shot with one.

I don't think I have any spoilers other than the fact I ended up in an almost endless cycle of getting blown up by mini nukes instantly after it reloaded the autosave. ;)
