What's your current characters name and why?

Lisirra. Because that's what she whispered to me. And, it doesn't sound like every other elven name in fantasy land.

My character has the worst name ever. I was making a mage and was very lazy and named him "Boom"

His name is Rayles Hlaalu. It's Dunmer name. He came from a wealthy Hlaalu family, but he's lived in Cyrodill for years.

My characters name is Bohwynn Arreaux. It has a Dunmer sound and is really just a play on words. (Bow n Arrow)

Cool.

I've got a male Bosmer named Tarien (probably came from a name generator) and a female Nord named Freya Nightstorm. (Every time I make a Nord girl, I give her that name.) Freya is a Norse goddess and "Night Storm" was the name of some metal song, and it just sounded Nordish.

Oh, and then there's steve (no capitalization), the Imperial placeholder hanging out at the end gate in the tutorial dungeon. When I can't think of a name, steve's the name to go for. Or sometimes mike.

Me too! I am listening to The Black Halo right now.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/oblivion/Oblivion527.jpg - A Wood Elf Witch born under the Apprentice whom I created last night. She was made to use with my Witchcraft mod. So I went with the name of one of the world's most famous Witches. (Kirke being the Greek form. Circe is the Latinized version).

Haha! Awesome. I'm currently listening to "Epica" (the album, not the band). My best friend got me into them and I have to say, I'm glad.

Speaking of Bosmer, a young female named Karelia has recently strolled into my head. Some thought shall be put in and a new character may be created.

Karelia is the name of a band I listen to, and evidently this she-elf likes the sound of it for her own name.

My character's name is Alpine Sky. I have a Samoyed named Alpine Pearl and a Yorkshire terrier named Sciura, and I use their names (and nicknames\variations) frequently in various combinations when I need a name for a character.

http://oi56.tinypic.com/ofvtpz.jpg, or Marti for short.

90% of names I create use http://www.guildcompanion.com/scrolls/2000/jun/reviewebon.html

Sadly, it looks like Sami Py?rre is no longer hosting the work, and I have no idea where his page has gone to. :(

If anyone is interested I can host the file on the Nexus.

Yiff. He's a Kahjit and I am easily amused.

I tend to go for goofy and nonsensical names, though I do occasionally choose something less silly. Very rarely.

I'm messing with four very different characters right now. Have had troubles keeping them alive with all the mods I am using, so I'm playing four distinct archetypes in hopes of finding one that is more survivable.

In order of oldest to newest

1. Varnand Glyphe, male Breton "SwordMage" Level 7 (Bld Blk HvArm Cjr Myst Restr Marks) fun character now that I've built up his Str & End high enough that the Dwemer Armor he is wearing is less of a burden and more of an asset. Varnand came off the Tamriel Rebuilt name generator as did Glyph, and I just put them together.

2. Nadia Komiche, female Boswer "Nympho" Level 12 (Alch Alter Illus L Arm Marksman Secur Sneak). Sounds sort of like the famous Romanian gymnast http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadia_Com%C4%83neci.

3. Ograwg gro-Ugrarg, male Orc "WarShama" (not enough space for War Shaman! :cryvaultboy: ) Level 3 (Block, Blunt, Hv Arm, Cjr, Restoration, L Arm, Marksman). My first ever orc that I played, and my first ever character to base on Blunt instead of Blade. I'm impressed by how powerful those blunt weapons are: With Blunt skill at ~60 and Str at ~55 he kills Timber Wolves with one blow! Sounded like a good and somewhat humorous Orc name ;)

4. Noifre Caledon, female "Altmer" (though I consider her to be half Redguard; I upped her Str and End a bit in the console, and made her face look distinctly mixed in features) pure stock Mage class, Level 3.

LOL!!! I guess you could say that the Countess's name was a subconscious influence when I created my character's name. And here I was thinking I had been fairly creative... Hehe. :slap:

Broken-Scale The Bounty Hunter was named that because ... Well, because I thought it sounded cool, and the naming actually worked for an Argonian.

Conrad Belmont the Knight was named that because 1) Conrad is extremely similar to my name, and 2)) Belmont both sounds cool and is a Breton-sounding last name. So putting them together was a logical choice.

Well, I'm not very creative when it comes to names. The name Sora actually came from a Digimon-themed jar in our kitchen, which I used because the name sounded pretty cool, and I came up with her last name, Llatharyn, by chucking a few letters together so it sounded remotely Dunmer-ish.
My Imperial, Summer, was named after me because I was trying to create a lookalike of myself (who, strangely, now looks nothing like me). She wasn't really supposed to be a serious character, but ended up being my most successful
My brother once made a Redguard called Le-Ann Fudgywinkles, just because he could.

Jabber McInsty is my name for every TES game. Why? I dunno. I was thinking about cool Alice In Wonderland names so there's the inspiration for Jabber (Jabberwocky for you illiterates) and McInsty? I have no clue how I came up with that. I must sat in front of the Daggerfall creation screen for 5 minutes before I got it.

High Elf Wizard named Bomilcaro. Which is the latinization of the Carthaginian name Bodmelqart with an o at the end. Seemed to fit with an Altmer.

my current character's names are: Glaudius Arcadia and Shadow-In-The-Sea. I picked these names because I thought the name Glaudius looked cool and I wanted him to be the brother of Claudius Arcadia. Shadow-In-The-Sea is a attempt at a original Argonian name, I picked it because he is a assassin and he spends a lot of time in the ocean.

My story is a bit long and kinda sad, but interesting.

When I first got into role playing games, I was married to a guy whose character name in all games was Feral Knight. I wasn't very creative with names so he suggested Brianna Knight (he had always loved the name Brianna and had wanted to name his daughter that but got voted out by family). So for many years, all my characters in any game were Brianna Knight (including Ultima Online). A few years later, we divorced. I hated that character name as it brought up so much sadness every time I saw it (i.e. logged in to UO). So I wanted to find a new name.

Around this time, I had just finished a college course (yes, I went back to school at age 30) on chivilry (which much to my surprise and delight wasn't anything like I thought it would be). During this course, we read a lot of celtic stories and one in particular grabbed my attention. It was about this beautiful maiden named Rhiannon who would ride her horse past the men out hunting every day. They would chase after upon the leaders command. But no matter how fast they chased her, she was always out of reach. The commander was so exasperated with this day after day. He desperately wanted to talk to this beautiful and apparently mystical woman. So one day, he chased after her himself and yelled "please dear lady, stop!". And she did. She turned around and rode back to him. He asked her why she never stopped before. Her reply: you never asked. They married and had a long happy life together.

Also around this time, I had purchased a CD of Fleetwood Mac's The Dance. There was a live version of their song "Rhiannon" on there which had a new start to it which was very slow and beautiful. If you listen to the words of that song:

Rhiannon rings like a bell through the night
And wouldn't you love to love her?
Takes through the sky like a bird in flight
And who will be her lover?

All your life you've never seen a woman
Taken by the wind
Would you stay if she promised you Heaven?
Will you ever win?

She is like a cat in the dark
And then she is the darkness
She rules her life like a fine skylark
And when the sky is starless

Rhiannon
Rhiannon
Rhiannon
Rhiannon

She rings like a bell through the night
And wouldn't you love to love her?
She was alive like a bird in flight
And who will be her lover?

All your life you've never seen a woman
Taken by the wind
Would you stay if she promised you Heaven?
Will you ever win? Will you ever win?

Rhiannon
Rhiannon
Rhiannon

Taken by, taken by the sky
Taken by, taken by the sky
Taken by, taken by the sky

Dreams unwind
Love's a state of mind
_______________________

It kinda sounds like Ms Nicks might have read the same story. So, at that moment in my life, this was the perfect character name for me for a lot of reasons. I was alone, the right person for me had not come along, a mystical creature who rides a horse in search of love. I even paid money to have my UO character name changed (I wasn't about to start over with a new character after 2 full years).

So since 1998, my characters have all been named Rhiannon.
