So i'm curious guys, What your favorite method of aproach on an enemy's base? Mine's personally sneaking, it's aways fun for me to take all the bad guys out of they without then even noticing who did it.

i usually fire arrows at the guards, alerting the base, then wait at the gate with my battle axe and cut down all as they come charging out to greet their doom

I strongly prefer to sneak and outsmart my enemies instead of using brute force.

Sneak for me. I hate it when they see me first so I usually take out the archers with my bow and then sneak up on the rest with knifes.

I try to take on almost any approach with a stealth-based style. Like in dungeons you can sneak up on the draugre and kill them when they are still in their coffins/walls.
If there's a large group like 3+ then you can usually kill the closest or farthest, depending on the situation. Then if you can bring one down without them leaving the others will come over and check him, and you can kill them too! lol.
Maybe on my next character I will try the "rambo" approach, but I'm having way too much fun so far.

Sneak bow shot on first guy, shield charge in, slice 'em while they're on the ground!

my favorite method is usually thinning their numbers with stealthy arrow kills and then sneak up behind the guy in the highest tower and use unrelenting force to throw them off the tower preferably while still sitting down unaware of my presence. Sometimes I try to gather them all in the highest point and dual casting them into position while healing them at the same time to prevent them from dying then Fus Roh Dah their asses off to hell

I wait until it's dark, arm my bow and use the Aura Whisper shout - silently and efficiently I pluck down a target until the camp / fort is clear of bad guys. If that approach bores me, I equip a dagger and sneak behind a bad guy and slit his throat.

Usually conjure up two storm thralls, perhaps cast Rout a few times because it's funny to watch everything flee, then conjure up a battleaxe or pull out my Daedric Greatsword and quite simply charge in. Sneaking to me just seems a bit pointlessly tedious and slow in comparison.

none of those : sneak circling around, snip the sentries, usualy someone notice and come up to stupidly stare at the corpse, resnip and so on.
I usualy enter only when they are all dead.

edit : of course i start by waiting till dusk arrives.

I try to pick off as many guys with sneak arrows before charging in, but usually I only get one hit or one kill before all hell breaks loose. Either they discover me and spill out, or my follower goes nuts and rushes in. I learned to park my horse waay back because they are short fused and suicidal.

I try to be tactical, but there's not a lot of options for a 1H heavy armor bruiser. Once I engage the first guy, everyone in the fort comes running at me. I will sneak around the perimeter to get a look and try to get an enemy count. If there's a way in that provides a choke point or secluded open area with an exit, I'll use that. I don't like charging the front door. Sometimes I'll position my follower to provide ranged support while I stay in one area.

So yeah, I try to sneak but usually end up rampaging.

Honestly, my approach depends on the kind of character I'm roleplaying.

My current main character, who is depicted in my avatar, is all about brute force. Therefore, I selected option 1.

Well, now that I'm higher level and stronger, I mostly engage them at range; not exactly sneaky, but also not charging into the thick of it and getting 8 enemies attacking me at once.

Earlier in the game, when I wasn't as strong, I sometimes would use the enemies' own traps against them - I'd run in, get their attention, then run back and let them run over their own traps (or the 'built in' traps of the ancient nords, if I'm in a barrow).

It was quite hillarious watching a big bunch of draugr run over one of the 'swing-ing gate of spikes' type traps and watch them go flying like tennis balls.

Sneak to the walls, then rush in the gate, spells flashing and with an army of the dead at my command.

Mwhahaha!

I tend to take a stealthy approach. I do try to get in close when I have to, but I still try to maintain stealth until the last moment. I can hold my own without sneaking, though
