What is your favorite area in Oblivion?

The area at the very southern tip of the Blackwood Forest is another cool area. Again, love looking off into the horizon there.

Without question, my favorite place is atop Frostcrag Spire. Best view in all of Cyrodiil. And a dandy place to push victims to there death.

That would be the "favorite town" thread, right? ;) But one of my favorite hamlets (if we could call it that) is http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Bleaker%27s_Way. It's really hidden, you have to climb some hills possibly just to find it. All the NPCs are friendly, there's an inn, and I believe some free beds. I don't think the innkeeper even charges for these beds. Oooh! Maybe this can be Lady Saga's home base. Perfect, out of the way

And then a Daedric Prince just has to go and ruin it all

Although I know you won't have access to these, with the Unique Landscapes mods, the Nibenay Basin is very beautiful.

I'm surprised no-ones mentioned The Orange Road yet. If I have to travel from Chorrol to Cheydinhal, I always take the Orange Road and then the back road from Bruma to Cheydinhal :D

Anvil then. I'd live there for real if I could
Likewise. I loooove Anvil! Sometimes I get a feeling that I felt when I first started Oblivion, and some images come into my head, Anvil is one of those.

There's a little place with about 5 waterfalls near the Abandoned House. It's so wonderful! :D I like it when it's raining there, it's so peaceful. I was going to put a little cottage there for one of my characters and realised I would have ruined the whole atmosphere of the place.

Also, there was this one place with a waterfall I came across in the Nibenay Basin, with a large waterfall and a large lake. I can't remember where it was, but it was on the way to the first Dead Drop contract. That quest was put on hold.

Now I remember that waterfall! That was one of the first places I ever found in Oblivion.
Also your 5 waterfall area sounds really cool... I must find it!

Why hasn't anyone mentioned a town yet? I love the nature and environment of Cyrodiil, but I also really enjoy the warmth of places like Bruma and Skingrad. Just nice, small with good people and a nice atmosphere to surround yourselves with when not out on adventure.

As mentioned before, I do like the beautiful nature of Oblivion, but I feel much more at comfort inside a town. It just makes me feel safe and at peace.

Gosh I've always wondered what my favorite one is... Skingrad and Chorrol are both really cool, Skingrad because it has the illusion of being really big because of the narrow streets and high buildings but Chorrol is... cool! haha

Lake Arrius. Though that's with a UL mod installed.

Hmmm. Fyrelight Cavern. I have very fond memories of that cave.

Hmm i totally forgot about Lake Arrius. It reminds me of an important lake from my childhood so its a serious contender to Fargeyl Inn.

Hah! I was just here! Too bad that well... you know ;D

Lol I remember the first time I was there, I think I spent an entire hour just trying to figure out the significance of that one island with the bridge on it!

Hmm I actually haven't gotten any of the plugins yet, sure sounds interesting though! I may have to check it out.

I don't know if it was a glitch in the generator but I remember this huge plains over by Lord Drad's house. It was interesting because it was such a large area of open land surrounded by pine trees.

Oh really? that svcks. I'm glad I found this place on my own then, without it being quest-related.

Ha! I just figured your name, btw. You're one of the Knights who say Ni!

Heh I hope you don't get killed! I mean ummm....well you know

Wow. Hope it was an hour game time! Not Earth time! J/k.

That's one thing I don't like about Oblivion, there's no towns that are just... there (apart from Blakenmarch, but that seems like it was originally intended for a quest), or that they only have one quest that is usually detrimental to them.

Well done :D

OT: Does anyone else really like the Wayshrine of Akatosh just outside Cheydinhal and Harlun's Watch? There's a small pond by it's side and is wonderful at sunset :)

In Cyrodiil you mean?

I particularly like the Nibenay Basin - the area around the east bank of the Niben. The only player house I've built myself sits on a hilltop on the north end of Niben Bay, north of the Corbolo River. I also quite like the Jeralls and the West Weald. And the view across Topal Bay.

There a beautiful little lake with a waterfall on the left-hand side of the road as you walk from the Imperial City to Cheydinhal. It's my favorite spot in all of Cyrodiil.

Ah yes, often with a creature near the road and lots of Ginseng near the rocks. ^_^

Near Caldew Chapel, there is a small river where you can see the sunrise over the Imperial City. Beautiful.

Gosh, I don't know if I can even answer that question!

So, my favorite spot, hmm...

I'd have to go with Lake Arrius. It's so peaceful there, with the little stream feeding the playful waterfalls. No nasties to bother you. I would just love to sit back, dip my feet into the water, and just enjoy the view of Cheydinhal and the Nibenay Valley.

I think my favorite area has to be the Jerall Mountains and the city of Bruma. There was a nice spot where you could look south and see the Imperial City but the whole area was rather nice.

There are so many places, I cannot say just one. I love climbing the Jerall mountains, or going through the forests east of the Niben, or along the peaks of the Colovian Highlands, or picking alchemy ingredients south of Bravil.

Yes, that is a nice spot. Wish I could set up a tent for some character of mine right there, that would be sweet.

Sure, just throw a bone to the wolf who's usually hanging around there. Nice doggie. :)

settting up a tent.....

Mod : wreight cart (horse in front of it, chest on the back, some room to sit)

something like this : http://images1.americanlisted.com/nlarge/wooden_horse_cart_harness_1400_ojai_28176355.jpg
but with a chest in the back for your loot & stuff;)

travel in style!

Mod 2 : tent-houses

Model 1 (cheap, colonist's tent) http://wargaming.info/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/colonial/hhv-nz/howickhvnz01.jpg
just a small sack, and a bedroll, jus like the ones ingame)
Model 2 (medium, knights tent) http://www.wassonartistry.com/images/other/tents/Untitled-7.jpg
something more like this : Interior (when deployed : http://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/01/58/05/50/tent-interior.jpg)
a real 1 person bed, a few decorative items, on a small wooden cabinet, but no more.
Model 3 (kingsize!) : (something like this) http://www.foxdog.org/medieval/events/tent.jpg
multiple sections (3 usually) seperated by blankets..
1 central area, with chairs and a fire pit.. as well as a big table with maps.. the generals meeting room.
1 side area with a luxerous 2 person bed and lots of comforting linnens, oils and all that would make it comforting (cuddle room)
1 smaller side area, usually the sleeping area of his highness personal guards.. more simple..

add these 3 to the game... and make them all to heavy to carry (so you need the horse cart to place them in the chest to carry them around)
and ofcourse DEPLOYABLE!

they come fully furnished and with extra decoration (like a stick to tie your horse on, or a campfireside for the 2 tents that do not have one indoors, and some flags with your royal banner, and such) when deployed.. (its a whole tent set) you would just need to have it in your inventory and use it.. and on the spot where you would stand... it would build your camp..
(and when clicking on the bed in your cam you can sleep or undeploy.)

should be not to hard to make.. :)

how glad would you be with a mod like that??
