what is your favorite city?

Post » Tue Jun 29, 2010 2:03 am

Oh... how depressing. Thanks for the heads up though.

If they keep going on like this there wont be any settlements left in Colovia soon.

There is new settlements though, like Ione which is as big and it was built with a ruin of an oblvion gate in the town center :P

Mournhold because of it's luxuriousness for the Tribunal expansion pack. Also Vivec because of it's sheer size and statues in Morrowind.

Dagggerfall: Does Orsinium count? What, no? Then I'll settle for Wayrest.
Morrowind: Caldera, thanks to a friendly little manor with a rich merchant, and a corrupt hlaalu with a fun quest line. Balmora is a close second.
Oblivion: Kvatch, I like that whole daedric look they've got going on down there, it's real cosy.

In MW, I'd have to call it a tie between Balmora and Sadrith Mora. They were big enough to call a town (hardly a city), but each had a unique "flavor" to it.

In OB, Skingrad was the only "city" (again, more like a "town") that had anything resembling industry (wine), active agriculture (not just abandoned farms), and "character". The Imperial City SHOULD have been huge and amazing, with what we got in-game only representing the "inner core", and the less-majestic rest of the city surrounding it and covering almost the entire island.

To be fair though, Vvardenfell had only been opened up for colonization 13 years before the events of Morrowind, when the King of Morrowind revoked the ban on trade and settlement, so you can't expect any bustling cities to be present really, especially with the threat of Dagoth Ur and the blight storms present.

I agree about the imperial city though, and the other oblivion cities too, it was kind of a let down, though perhaps we were expecting too much.

Anvil is my favourite city just because the harbour at sunset is so beautyful

Morrowind- Balmora is my favorite town, mainly because I spent so much time there. I loved the canol flowing through the center of town and the way all the buildings flowed together.

Oblivion- Leyawiin no doubt. The khajiit and argonian residents really got to me. The swampy feel and the contrast between the timid shacks to the large mansions was great.

MW: I like Vos a lot, but I think my favorite city was probably Ald'ruhn. (Unless Thirsk counts as a city...)
OB: Either Skingrad or Leyawiin. Beautiful architecture and nice people.

Daggerfall: Longing (not sure why, but I tend to buy a house there every time I play the game now, cozy little village).
Morrowind: Vos, quiet cozy farmer place
Oblivion: Anvil, beautiful harbour town! I hope we see more harbours in TES5, and hopefully more activity around there too, with sailors and people transporting cargo, flying gulls or whatever.

Balmora.

Even though it's not a bit similar to my real hometown it felt like home to me.

Morrowind: Khuul - A nice, small town at the edge of the sea
Oblivion: Anvil - A nice city at the edge of the sea
I seem to like port cities.

My favourite in Oblivion is Chorrol. It really has that nice fantasy feel to it with out being too high fantasy. Also, it's very peacfull and the landscape is very European. My lest favourite in Oblivion is Bravil. Such a dump. I don't really have a Morrowind fav since I have only been to Balmora. xD

I have a soft spot for Imperial City. This is completely subjective, but certain areas in IC remind me of that famous Sinead's video where she's walking through ruins. It's very small part of the video, but it was always my favourite. I absolutely loved it for my own personal, subjective reasons.

Ayleid ruins also looked extremely similar to those ruins, but it's probably coincidence.

For Oblivion? Chorrol:

I always had a nack for the nice rustic feel of that city, it's peaceful inside, and outside there's always action. Technically, I own 4 properties there, Francois Montrierre's house, player-bought house, mages guild, fighter's guild HQ. If I get bored, there are plenty of caves and mines to hunt in.

Arena: Not played it enough yet.

Daggerfall: Either Wayrest or Warcart, (Warcart is a smaller town I stumbled upon when I started playing the game, and I kinda fell for it).

Morrowind: Raven Rock, or perhaps one of the smaller fishin villages. The fact that youre essential to the building of Raven Rock could explain some of the affection, but I love the atmosphere too.

Oblivion: Either Bruma or Anvil. Ive always liked Bruma, and Anvil is nothing less then beautiful. And the fact that Ive grown up on the coast could be another reason.

Daggerfall: Daggerfall City (for the Odd Blades ) and Sentinel.

Morrowind: Balmora, Gnisis and Suran.

Oblivion: none, to small for me to consider cities, which broke the flow.
oh, wait, maybe that little village you helped build.

Haven't played Arena or Daggerfall :/

Morrowind: Morrowind ultimately has the best town and cities, my favourite being Raven Rock, it's the coziest place on earth... I love being in the watch tower when its all dark, almost hoping to see some dark shadows move about outside the walls, feeling so safe <3... A close second is Balmora though, like alot peeps have said, it brings back alot of memories :)

Oblivion: Bruma, again Prolly cuz im in love with snow :P.... Other than that, even thought i guess it's not really a town, i like the big fortress thing in the mainquest (cant remember the name ).... I'm just a svcker for snow i guess..
