What is your favorite Daedric Prince or Divine ?

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 12:10 pm

Shor all the [censored] way. Least favorite, Akatosh. As for daedric prince, Peryite. Least favorite, Azura.

Pretty sure most people who know me know why my ratings the way they are.

Why would a heretic to the God Emperor like Shor and not Akatosh and like Peryite but not Azura?

I always took you for a Khorne man and not a Nurgle one.

How is Shor Aedric though? I'd agree with you think he probably is, but what source are you going off of exactly? The Monomyth states that he's Padomaic, doesn't it?

Aedra: Talos
Daedra: Herma Mora

Only one so far? I thought that her cleavage would have converted more. Looks like the Thieves Guild won't be getting much help any time soon.

Everyone's spooked by her habit of letting crows perch on her arms.

I personally feel it adds a certain sensual "insane" to her hotness. :hubbahubba:

Julianos because he lets you summon the princes faster, and magical items are sold at his temples.

Clavicus Vile because you have a shot at winning with him.

How is Jyygy daedric, when he's Anuic? The entire daedra = padomaic and aedra = anuic is crap.

Also, Akatosh is the empire, and Azura is a vastly petty version of Tzeentch.

Talos, Shor, Trinimac and Auriel. A mixed bunch but all awesome in their own way. Trinimac was always the most "F*** Yeah" of the Aldmeri pantheon, Auri-El because he's pretty much the OG. I feel I can relate most to Talos and Shor though, we have Shor/Lorkhan/Shezzar to thank for all that existance stuff and I've always felt that Talos embodies the human spirit of "Go where you shouldn't strictly be and make yourself at home".

Out of the Daedra I think my current favourite is Clavicus Vile, I really didn't care for him in previous games but like quite a few of the other Daedric Princes I feel he was given a much needed style infusion in Skyrim.

Over all? Sheogorath, because he's just fun. Absurdity and Creativity, inspiration, passion, and despair all rolled into an often-homicidal-package? What's -not- to like?

In Skyrim? Hermaeus Mora, because I swear to god I thought it was Garrison Keillor as the VA until someone pointed out it was Wes again. That was a sad moment for me, but you have to admit it's an appropriate description for how Herma sounds this time.

And then there's Magnus; Lorkhan/Shor may have been the inspiration, but Magnus was the architect, and smart enough to say 'screw this, i'm out,' just a -little- too late. By the way, do we have any other names for Magnus aside from Shor-son-of-Shor's Magnar?

edit: Excluding MD and LDK, that is.

I did not find any references to how the Dunmer view the remaining tribune, Vivec, even though he is no longer a "god" you dont just stop thousands of years of doctrine and ritual but, As a good Ashlander , Azura and the blessed Nerevarine and all the ancestors of my clan.

To be serious, Lorkhan, for having the vision to play the game at a completely different level from the rest of his kin, and set an actual purpose to the existence of the aedra, and to a lesser extent, daedra. Lorkhan is the engine of change and progress for the entire metaphysical construct.

To be less serious, Sheogorath, because the man puts on a good show. (And you will enjoy it, on pain of Fun.)

Tough choice, but Molag Bal. King of Ra-pe, Lord of Domination. Doesn't get any better than that.

If you want "a shot at winning", pick Hircine. What is the point hunting a prey if the prey can not escape? Not that it matters, Knowledge conquers all. With the Knowledge Mora has in his hands... Nothing will be impossible.

My favorite Daedric Prince is Clavicus Vile. He likes playing mindgames and he likes irony and he's usually quite honest with mortals. He's there to cause trouble because he enjoys it. Also, his relationship with Barbas is really interesting.

Favorite Divine? Talos. Kyne is cool, but Talos is the closest thing I'll get to Lorkhan with the divines.

Overall, Lorkhan is where it's at.

Least favorite overall? Azura.

That's a very strange response.

It's one thing to be an atheist in real life, where you can make a convincing case against the probability of any given religion being true, but it seems like nothing more than pure stubbornness to refuse to discuss the existence of a God that you actually find talking to you or granting miracles.

The difference between Daedra and Aedra are fairly esoteric and up to debate. Is Malacath an Aedra? Well, if "Aedra" means ancestor, then yeah, probably. And Malacath can be talked with just as much as another daedra.

Why would you be unwilling, then, to not discuss an aedra when you will discuss daedra, when they are basically formed of the same thing, but with the aedra being forced into a less-direct set of intervention in the world... usually, at least, what with that whole "Akatosh actually appeared on Nirn and did battle with Mehrunes Dagon" thing. There's no denying Akatosh's existence, there.

It's also silly to say that aedra are like gods and have a religion, but daedra do not, when daedra clearly have temples and worshipers, themselves. They're just less popular, what with it taking a certain kind of religious devotee to think that worshiping a deity of horrifying nightmares and stealing memories is a good idea.

That came out wrong, I meant when I roleplay my character is not religious and he believes that the Aedra are like Gods and the Daedra are more like super natural higher beings and don't play the same role as the Aedra do.

The difference between worshiping Zeus and worshiping Cthulhu, then? Or did I take that a step too far?

Then I misinterpreted, so my apologies for that.

However, I would still wonder where you draw the line between Aedra and Daedra worship... Azura worship is quite fatalistic, after all. She is daedra by most accounts, but works notions of Fate into everything she does, and worship of her is mostly trying to derive meaning from her riddle-filled prophecies.

I consider them different because most of the Daedra are considered bad and they tend to do things for their own benefit or to double-cross someone, whereas, the Aedra are good and tend to help people who worship them. That is just the way I see it.
