What is your favorite great house?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:28 am

Title says it all. I play the game mainly as a wealthy warrior. Indoril would be my favorite but its not in game and their army now defends Vivec, and I kind of feel Vivec betrayed Nerevar most. There is an addon to add House Indoril I have seen but I don't think it was ever complete :(. I like getting a lot of gold and collecting expensive items so Hiallu seems fitting but they are to willing to accept the imperial. Redoran is cool but I don't like how they support the tribunal and the stronghold has a bad location in my opinion. Telvanni is more magic based and I'm more of a warrior but all the houses have pros and cons, so I still choose Telvanni. I like how they kind of stay out of politics and have easy rules, also their stronghold is so cool and unique. So whats your favorite house and why?

In the game I found Telvanni to be the most interesting faction to join. Granted their extreme opinions of individuality have resulted in some reprehensible behavior like slavery and the egomaniac-authoritarian rule of some settlements, however in-game they're a fascinating house.

There's also something to be said for a society which is what it claims to be. The Redoran do have very lofty ideals but I find the application of their ideals to be rather wanting. House Hlaalu are in a somewhat similar boat to the Telvanni being open and honest about their . . . . well dishonesty, but I don't like the Hlaalu.

I wish we knew more about Dres beyond their agrarian focus and ardent support of slavery. It would be particularly interesting to know what happened to Dres after slavery was criminalized in Morrowind. While many individual members of the House may try to preserve the status quo at least officially the House needs to find something else to get behind.

In-game wise, it really depends on the character. They're all awesome in thier different ways, and certain characters make me prefer one house over another. Although, it is pretty undeniable that Telvanni have the most awesome arcitechture ever. Redoran's arcitechture is quite under-rated, though. Huge hollowed out crab shells is quite awesome.

Lore wise... Indoril. I love Tribunal lore and tradition, and I love the feel Ordinators give towards the Indoril. I also think that what they stand for is quite interesting.

Not that they're nice people, mind you, just very awesome. If we're going by who I like as people, that would probably be the Redoran. Every House follows the nastiness of Dunmer stereotypes somehow, but I feel Redoran are less inclined towards uneeded hatred towards the other races, and I love the honour about them. just my opinion.

House Dagoth is the coolest, they got EVIL! Seriously though, I like all the houses, so much that I decided never to join any because it would be an impossible decision.

Hlaalu.

I love Telvanni's eccentricity, but even as a wizard.. traversing those annoying mushroom tunnels is annoying and vaguely claustrophobic.

I usually join the Redorans. Crassius Curio just creeps me out and I really dislike Telvanni, especially their annoying towers.

Dunno, each of them have some level of corruption within, which having worked for the real world government and dealt with corruption, I naturally stay away from the Great Houses until the MQ dictates I have to.

Give me the tribal camps anyday. Yes, they're binky too, but their corruption is at the surface, not festering within.

I like Telvaani for the quest rewards (daedric equipment with feather? yes please) and the mushroom house mainly.

Plus people in Telvaani tend to be crazy weirdos and that adds some atmosphere to it which I also enjoy.

Probably Telvaani. I love me some Divayth Fyr. And I find them very intriguing.
Hlaalu was alright and I'm about to join Redoran for the first time on my newest character. So we'll see about them.

Telvanni.

Because everything about them is awesome... their architecture, what they stand for, their rules, how they deal with things... and of course Divayth Fyr. Need I say more? :D

Honestly, I've never played Telvanni. Their slave abuse has always put me off.
I have played Hlallu and/or Redoran.
Hlaalu is the best for hedonism IMO. (Personally I love Uncle Crassy.)
Redoran gave me a chance to use skills I wouldn't have thought of. For instance I used Speechcraft in ways I didn't think of in Hlaalu.
The Redoran stronghold is dark and kind of gloomy but it's near to a low place in the Ghostfence that's easy to levitate over and near roads and paths in the Red Mountain area

Telvanni, no contest. I'll take self-absorbed wizard-lords over the pussies in the Mage's Guild anyday.

Telvanni. I found it to be the most interesting House, and modders seem to like it a lot too. :D

Second would be Redoran.

Telvanni.
Hlaalu as second.

Havn't ever actually joined Redoran (in all these years!). It never seemed that interesting compared to the other two; I might be missing out on a lot, though.

I too have never played redoran, and i agree on Telvanni being my favorite. Hlaalu is my second favorite, i would probably prefer redoran if i tried, but Balmoras always the first place i go to so I just end up wondering into the manor and signing up :D

Lore-wise id put indoril second, mainly because the ordinators fascinate me... scum

As my name suggests i have an interest in House Dres, their ways and customs, however i don't know enough. In game its Telvanni every time. A lot of their quests are annoying (i find their stronghold easily ten times harder than either other house to put together due to its remote location, the need for 2 soul gems to be filled [nightmare if your conjuration is low like me] and the quest in Galom Deus). However, i find that their iconoclastic, unconventional methods, hatred for the annoying, rule-loving mages guild wimps, lack of bounding moral codes and libertarian "take what you want" stance to fit in with most of my characters. They have a much freer reign than the other 2 houses, who are bound up in rules and traditions and bend over for the empire.

Also, Telvanni mods >>>> other house mods. BuUL + UL + RoHT = amazing fleshed out Telvanni story, big decisions that make you FEEL like you are actually running a house, loads of new quests, huge brilliant tower and my own town to boot. :foodndrink:

Saying that, i wish someone would do the same for Hlaalu. As the house of opportunity and fortune, i cant fathom why the Grandmaster would just sit on his [censored] once he gets there. I would imagine him forming and breaking alliances, getting his fingers in plenty of pies, having a huge manor with grounds, plantations, maybe an Ebony mine with some quests attached to it, choice to either take over the Commana Tong and take it in Dren;s direction or move it in the modernised Imperial direction. Ah, i can dream. :(

The first few characters I used, I always joined Hlaalu. Except I though it was H-i-a-a-l-u. Well, I soon learned the proper name (probably from some nice forumers :)), but it just never felt the same...

Now I enjoy Redoran the most, and Telvanni next.
