What is your favorite magic effect?

I really love the frenzy spell. I made a custom frenzy to level 25 with area of ten feet. I went to the arcane university and casted it on the Mage Apprentices and they went crazy and started fighting each other. xD
The cool thing was is that they all had Enchanted Daggers.

What's yours?

Oh yeah-- Frenzy ftw.

There's pretty much nothing in the game more fun than area-of-effect frenzy plus invisibility on self. Just cast it and sit back and watch the mayhem.

Other than that, I have to admit to a fondness for Stark Reality. Shame you can't keep that one.....

For anyone who's on PC, I can't praise this mod enough -- http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3821%29. That's some of the most fun I've ever had with this game.

Light, especially when added to a custom enchanted weapon. 6 ft for 1 sec, is cool, the dungeon lights up every time you whack something.

Frenzy is fine my friend, but to Command is better.

Paralyze

I like my enemies to stay in one place, while doing nothing, long enough to kill'em.

Frenzy done right is good for a laugh in towns. The reaction of the guards after they wipe out the entire civilian population is priceless.

Detect life. Lots of it.

First to see their foe usually wins the fight.

Strategically-- absolutely. You only need to cast it on one opponent, so you don't have to waste magicka on area of effect, and since it's only cast on one opponent who's now on your side, the odds are that you won't have to even mess with invisibility or anything of that nature.

But frenzy's still more entertaining, just for the sheer volume of mayhem. :D

Paralyze. Sure, it's really hard on your magicka, but it's just so cool to hit someone with it and they just go ragdoll and you can kill them or leave them or drown them or whatever you want.

My favorite is the frenzy spell, too. One time in the imperial city in the market district, I went into a magic potion place and made the woman go wild and everyone started attacking her. The funny part is that the spell wore off on her and when that happened she just stood there and let all the guards attack her.

Totally depends on the situation. Detect life and chameleon if I'm sneaking through a dungeon. Shock if I need to fry something. Light if I'm playing a warrior with shield or claymore. And conjuration for distractions, so I can go back and heal, get to a safer spot etc.

A mix of frenzy area effect and demoralize area effect and Calm area effect its funny to see half of them run while half of them chase each other while some just stand there like 'WTF?' lol.

Levitation... no wait. :brokencomputer:

Uhm... I guess my favorite would be either reflect or spell absorption. I also like restore health.

Absorb health can be quite effective at keeping you alive while taking the enemy down at the same time.

Absorb health. It's my standard weapon enchant.

Though the most fun is casting a fortify 100 speed spell on a black horse courier, and watching them bug out.

Frost for one reason an area of effect frost spell stays in place for the entire duration. This means that a 25 damage on 15 feet for 20 secs frost spell will stay in place for 20 secs and will damage anything that steps into this spell thats 500 freaking damage overall, this spell is great cuase you can cast it at a door and just wait for our enemy to walk into it

I'm just wondering why not?

Can't you just keep that quest unresolved so you can hang on to it like many have done with Umbra?

Any capable conjurer is'nt going to be very impressed with sanguine rose and its randomness, not when they pick and choose what to call

And they can also call up new weapons and armor when their own inventories are emptied leaving the other people in the area of affect pretty much screwed

I am going test that out soon and here's hoping that the spell actually works outside the prescripted canned hunt in Lewayin

When I first got a frenzy spell I went a little trigger happy and pretty much wiped out the entire population of all the major towns.

This reminds me, where can I buy a frenzy spell? I've looked everywhere I can think, the college of Illusion in Bravil doesn't have any.

Absorb + Calm is devastating

Drain + Weakness to Magic is devastating

Chameleon 100% on Target (summons) is devastating

Command Creature can be devastating (find a major creature and have them follow you around slaying stuff)

Of course, Fortify Intelligence + Fortify Magicka offers continuous casting of more powerful spells, so they're pretty important

And for defense... Resist Magic, Reflect Spell, Chameleon, Invisibility

(Illusion school is overpowered compared to the other schools, I think)

Reflect spells, or reflect damage. But they tend to be too overpowered in the high numbers.
