What is your favorite race and why?

Dunmer I love the look and the culture behind them

I completely agree... I fell in love with the Dunmer race as a whole when I played my first ES game, Morrowind. (Which, I believe, is the greatest ES game.) I don't play as any other race...

I use to play a stealthy nord, but when Oblivion came around they were all dumb brutes, so I have switched to Imperials as my favourite race. After that it would have to be Khajiit because they look like mighty lions now, and finally dunmer.

Hey now, not all Dunmer are mean, the ones in Oblivion (aside from Valen Dreth) were actually very friendly.

I somewhat agree. The dunmer are sneaky yet friendly in Cyrodiil, but the natives can go [censored] themselves. They're rude, shade, blinded by the Tribunal, and I'm strongly against owning slaves. Their "necromantic" practices with their relatives are questionable, but at least it's kept within the family.
Lorewise, their fighting style has to be my favorite. Aside of excelling at everything, they're described as proficient enchanters and marksmen who are not trusted among the other races. The chimer origin and history is friggin' awesome, and they look the coolest as a neutral magic/stealth character, which I am in every game, only a different race.

Dark elves for me. Maybe it's because my first elder scrolls was Morrowind (and thus the focus was on dunmer culture), but I've loved how Bethesda has dealt with it's dark elves. Such a far cry from the cliche'd Drizzt sterotypes and evil underground societies that you typically find.

At first, I was into the whole "Imperial, FTW, BEATCH!", but that was when I was a puss, always sticking with the default white guy (No offense to the Imperial players, I just outgrew being the same damn thing over and over again). Then I went Redguard. Only just for me to fail at trying to make an Afro Samurai. Then, I decided, "Hell, why not be a kickass Northern race, that seems to have the background story of Vikings?" So now, I go Nord, but I will play as Dark Elves and Bretons as well. Haven't touched Imperial in a good long while.

Funny, I'd actually prefer if these dark elves would live deep underground. :P

I voted argornian, as I find them to have bonuses that carry into endgame very well.

I like an Orc Shaman, a Nord Wizard, and then a Redguard/Imperial Knight. I like a Khajit Warrior too. Kitty likes to smash. Meow.

That was weird....

Dunmer/Argonian assassin is fun too. Bosmer would work too I guess. Fargoth/Adoring Fan/Glarthir kinda killed Bosmer for me.

I can understand the nords winning when the the question is what race you're going to play. But why would the setting of the game have any bearing on your favorite race?

I think Orc is my favorite, clearly because they make a less likely hero. Not much is expected of them.

When more provinces become available, there is generally a much greater understanding of the natives who live there. Hell, I might love the Kajiits after I see their civilization in Elsweyr. It's just an observation. Take it as you will.

The game isn't out yet, we haven't learned anything we didn't already know.

My mistake, I assumed you had no idea, as your post wouldn't make any sense if you did.

With the release date around the corner, and sneak peeks of information of the nords, where they live, how they live, what Skyrim looks like, and who they are as a people, perhaps many fans are excited to play as the Nord? Perhaps there will be a small burst of orc fans with the release of their province, don't you think? Again, it's just an observation based off of the votes and what is currently revealed/released. After all, there doesn't seem be many who favor the Imperial. Perhaps if Cyrodiil showed more Imperial control, such as at least one Imperial fort in the overworld or a guard faction (hunting down thieves and arresting people) there may be more fans.

The Altmer because they are tanned and live for so long.

I really liked the Khajits but their nightvision wrecked the game for me. I couldnt turn it off and I could never see a moonlit world quite the same way as other races could.

I liked the Argonians too because of the way they ran, and that they could breathe underwater. I just wished my argonian could look more like a http://www.google.com.au/imgres?q=white+gecko&hl=en&rlz=1T4ADRA_enAU437AU437&biw=1280&bih=590&tbm=isch&tbnid=KpfAsYSXF5F4IM:&imgrefurl=http://leopardgeckocenter.com/color-of-a-leopard-gecko.php&docid=5ZSzj2_gsFeIrM&w=480&h=320&ei=LdMrTqv8IuHqmAX8yPG5Dw&zoom=1
