A "True Believer" is an incredible weapon of war as well.

My Grandpa has a collection of all sorts of American Civil War, WWII, and Vietnam weaponry, and out of all of his weapons I fired, I like the Karbiner 98k the most. There's just something about hearing that greased bolt slide into place and make that sweet little clicking noise before you fire that really feels awesome.

Before wide use of gunpowder. The Mongel Composite Bow.

After wide use. RPG-7 Cheap to mass produce and it shoots exploding projectiles.

Haha, I know. I haven't traveled down to Tennessee in a few years though, so I don't know if he's collected anything else. He even has Cavalry swords, an officer's uniform from both the Confederate and Union sides, and a Stielhangranate (sp?) grenade from WWII, defused of course. His basemant ("man cave") is pretty much a museum.

Arena announcer: Choose thy weapons, combatants!
Combatant 1: I choose a battleaxe!
Combatant 2: I choose words!
Combatant 1: Words?! What good are words?!
Combatant 2: I'll show you! Take this! You are a good-for-nothing, numb-skulled moron who is incapable of grasping the concept of the simplest of alchemical formulas!
Combatant 1:
again, words hurt no less nor cause less devastation, even if not right away. don't underestimate the http://www.openbible.info/topics/power_of_words; the said Combatant 2 just lacked the skills with words(eloquence it is called, i think); if properly used, it will cause damage to even the most resistant minds and will cause more damage than you can imagine. words activate behavior, in the listener and in the speaker alike. the old saying is true and emphasizes and illustrates the power of words:

Be careful of your thoughts
For your thoughts become your words.

For your words become your actions.

In a serious response, I love supressed pistols and sniper rifles. Nothing is more comforting to me in a game than the sound of a light 'pfft' of 'thump' and watching an enemy fall.

The M1 Garand. I love the noise it makes when it ejects a spent cartridge (is it a cartridge? I'm honestly not sure what it's called. Cartridge feels right though.)

Do you mean the en clip or casing? But yeah, the clip ejection does have nice "ping" to it.

I'll have to go with the M4 for a rifle system (with M203 for good measure). My backup is a Ruger sp101 5 shot .357 magnum. Perhaps one of the finest pistols ever designed.

And yes, I've read all of it.

If it has to be something real, this. I love that sound.

That noise was a defect in the weapon. It actually led to be a real problem as it was such a distinct sound the enemy knew when US soldiers spent their last round before reloading.

Propaganda. Much cleaner and more damaging than actually getting your hands dirty. :D

A board with a nail in it.

That board with a nail in it may have defeated us, but the humans won't stop there. They'll make bigger boards and bigger nails, and soon, they will make a board with a nail so big, it will destroy them all!

It was a minor defect with the clip design, and was far out shadowed by the firepower of the weapon. Hell, I find the bolt trying to chamber my thumb a greater problem.

Also....the http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/ab/AC-130H_Spectre_jettisons_flares.jpg/800px-AC-130H_Spectre_jettisons_flares.jpg Spooky. They're not planes, they're flying castle of doom for whoever calls one in. We can tell them "Hey we have enemies in this building shooting at us". All they ask is what floor and what window they can put rounds in a closest through a window with precision. It's awesome.

Actually, thats the AC-130H Spectre (your link).

There are quite a few variants as well. A, E, U, H. Each has different armaments; well...the same guns just different configurations.

Then I'm afraid that isn't real. Real silenced weapons are much louder than in films.

Yea, I just wanted a picture for some sort of reference to the AC-130 this was the best quality picture.

In real life, suppressed weapons don't go 'pfft' or 'thump'. They are still moderately loud, they just lower the decibel rate to the point where you don't need ear protection. Even with sub-sonic ammo shots are still pretty audible.

True that, a silenced pistol can still sound like a staple gun going off...loud enough to hear from another floor of a house but quiet enough to not wake up every hostile in a 5 block radius.

I'd say the AK47, if simply for power, simplicity, and wide distribution.

Yes! And also whats one of the most inconvenient things that can happen to any infantry man? (other than getting shot) That would be running out of ammunition! But wait! You have a small sword at the end of your rifle? Now it is no longer such an issue...except for closing in with the enemy but after you do that the cat is in the bag.
