I wanna start a new character. I want something really challenging, so any tips would be nice.

Maybe a hardcoe mode character who is enemies with everyone except the BOS, freeside and the followers.
Only allowed to use T-45 power armor and not allowed to use fast travel, and not allowed to use drugs or alcohol.

--------------------

Or maybe a violent psycho-path allied with Legion on hardcoe mode who uses low-mid grade only melee, unarmed, and guns. This character also enjoys eating people, mutants, and ghouls.

Try a character who only wears naughty nightewear and a fireman helmet and goes around whacking up everybody with a fire axe. Actually one of the most fun playthroughs I think i've ever done, just going from settlement to settlement killing every last person that lives there, I probably oughta talk to a therapist about that....

My sneaky snipy assassin:

(base without perks, traits or implants)
S: 4
P: 7
E: 3
C: 7
I: 5
A: 6
L: 7

Skills:
Major (3 points for each every level up): guns, lockpick, sneak.
Minor (remaining points distributed for these): explosives, repair, speech.

Traits: Small Frame, Trigger Dicipline

Most notable perks:
Friend of the Night
Night Person
Gunslinger
Sniper
Finesse

Implants: Monocyte Breeder, Propability Calculator (Project Nevada implants: Bionic eyes, AR Scanner, Monocyte Breeder, Adrenaline Booster, 4x Kinetic Acclerator)

Uses Merc Cruiser Otufit, Chinese Stealth Suit, Handguns, (non-automatic) Shotguns and sniper rifles.

A small (scale 0.95) asian woman with black hair and green eyes. Doesn't touch automatic weapons. Too frail and pretty to get hit, she strikes silently from the darkness. "The Last Crimson Dragoon" in a sense ;)

I noticed some of you raise up your charisma. Why is charisma worth raising? I've always seen it as a useless special, is there something I'm missing out on?

Dude, if you don't have good non-combat skills, you are REALLY shooting yourself in the foot. One of the things I like about this game is that, while you can solve quests with violence, the best endings are usually restricted to speech or some other non-combat skill.

Yeah but can't you just raise your speech level.....why raise charisma?

And I can get enclave armor from Arcade with an intelligence of 4, drink a beer, he agrees to buddy up, then go get a surgery and have intelligence of 5.
See, I didn't even need to use speech.

Some people don't like min/maxing and metagaming all the fun out of RPing.

I agree, sometimes I don't even use enclave armor because it makes the game too easy. But what are the advantages of raising charisma, does it unlock certain
speech options?

It does, and, once again, some people (like me) hate min/maxing and metagaming/powergaming.

7 is regarded as the high limit in Fallout 3/NV. That is why i have it at 7 on my character (and Intelligence at 7 with another character), for SPECIAL challenges and people going DAYUM! :hubbahubba: :P

Besides, the game gives too many SPECIAL points, have to dump them somewhere :hehe: Seriously, having higher SPECIAL score in the other stats would be against the character concept i had in mind.

See, i dont think of it in terms of gameplay, i think of it as the role i was playing. Because i consider my character to be not horrible to be around, i keep his charisma around 5.

I often have to make big sacrifices for what I want. I love having maxed out luck and agility. That often means I have to sacrifice inteligence and stength for that.

Bah, metagaming.

" A brother well-equipped is a brother performing his duties. "

You know sometimes I'll have a character with nothing more than a pistol and a business suit. And another character wearing T-45 armor and a gatling laser.

Has nothing to do with metagaming, just my character.
