What if your system broke...?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:43 am

Since I would get the game on PC, I would just pop a new component in there. I have replacement parts for every component. Also PC isnt a console....its a platform. Though I find it very unlikely that 11-11-11 would be the day for my PC/media server to crash. It is up 24/7.

I've never had a red ring of death on either my xbox or my xbox 360 and I got my xbox when it first came out and I got my 360 when it first came out. Guess I'm just lucky that I didn't get faulty hardware or other people don't take care of their xbox.

The red ring of death was really just an issue with the first few batches of 360s that were sold. They have since fixed it, a long time ago, but I can definitely understand some people's paranoia if they were one of those unlucky few.

Ah. Then PCs don't break, so I'm still good.

I'd consider your PC "broken" if it somehow started on fire, fell out of a window, became the home of wire-chewing mice, had an unfortunate accident while being moved from one room to another, slipped in the shower, etc.. You know, everyday occurrences. Oh, and most stores around where I live don't necessarily carry all the parts I currently use in my PC (or even ones I could use as replacements). Unless you live in some sort of metropolis, I don't see you being able to demand a new CPU from anyone at 12:01 AM.

To those with multiple consoles or PCs: try to imagine what you'd do if they all broke.. or if the power to your house was somehow shut off and incapable of being turned back on (for a few hours, at least).

Yeah. Also, I wasn't meaning that anyone that gets the red ring of death didn't take care of their xbox or 360, but I've seen plenty of people that I know who got the red ring of death and it's obvious why. I'll see their console pressed up against the wall and stuff piled on top so there is no ventilation or I'll see them with broken trays because they are rough with them and so on. Though I know one guy that was the first guy to get a 360 at my nearest walmart and his 360 stopped working in 40 minutes and he came back to the store while I was still in line and started shouting, it was great.

He probably wouldn't be, his doors having just been torn down the night before by rapid, sweaty TES fans.

Not in Gj?vik, Norway. That's the equivalent to Fargo up in North-Dakota, or some other godforsaken place. :yucky:

steal yours, :) :toughninja: because unlike the others saying "shrug because i also have a pc" I realize that you couldnt do that on release night, because they wont let you exchange on release night, and most will not have extra copies from what I am already being told, this game is fast becoming game of the year b4 even being released :celebration:

Yeah but in this hypothetical situation, I'm pretty sure even Spock would freak out a bit and possibly go on a Vulcan death grip rampage across the Enterprise... I know I would.

... and let the war begin...

NO. Never. You have your reasons for not liking PCs, he has his reasons for not liking consoles. But forcing others to share your POV is wrong.

By broken, I think he meant completely trashed and in no way fixable.

The idea of everything in my PC breaking at the same time and being irreperable is so ridiculous that it can't be answered in those terms. It would take a meteor-strike on my house to break everything in my PC at the same time, and if that happened, playing Skyrim would be the least of my worries.

i have a generator out back. :hubbahubba:

as for getting computer parts.........i was recently in arkansas over spring and even they had computer stores. you would have to be living in the remotest parts of antarctica to be unable to get computer parts.....maybe not in the dead of night but certainly the next day.

I said all of the above but then after the shock wore off I would have realized that I burned my PC for no reason and bought a console I already own. At that point i would soil myself.

btw I am counting PC as a console. So saying I HAVE A PC is irrelevant. What if your PC broke?

im from the midwest so you cant play the "region" card. to put it in perspective, on the way down when we were going through missouri there were billboards for the same dentist for over two hours on the highway........at 75 mph that means that he was advertising for an area at a minimum of 150 miles. :D
