Whatever will you do until Skyrim? I think i have an idea.

As we all know, Skyrim's release is a lifetime away, albeit an infants lifetime, but a lifetime all the same. I have an idea, that if implemented, could help tide many of us console users over until release. I think it would be a good idea if Beth released The ES 1 & 2 for download. This doesn't apply to PC users because i'm sure (although I haven't checked) with this newfangled "internet", it must not be especially hard to procure the aforementioned titles (not to mention that they have already been released on said interface). I for one, have never been big on gaming on a PC (although it is growing on me), I will usually opt for my comfy couch as opposed to my awkward desk. I would love to play the games that set this whole machine in motion, and I am sure that there are many that feel the same way. I don't know, but I doubt this would be hard to accomplish, and i'm sure it'd also be hard for Beth to lose anything from such an offer. To sum it all up: Beth, if you're reading this, please release ES 1 & 2 on xbox marketplace and on its PS3 counterpart, it'd make me happy, and i'm sure it'd be a smashing success.

Would anyone else like this? Or am I just imagining things. And please, do elaborate (especially if you disagree).

It basically takes a Masters in Computer Science to get Arena and Daggerfall running on Windows XP, Vista, and 7. I would hate to see what it takes to work on consoles.

I remember getting Arena working very easily in Dosbox but Daggerfall took a few hours and even then it didn't work and I gave up. I haven't been able to play it in years. I wish it would just show up on www.gog.com for free. Those guys are wizards and it would be cool if they would provide the files needed to make it work.

Arena and Daggerfall on console? It would be a technical marvel.

If I wanted them, I'd just get them on my PC. While I primarily play on my console, I'll play some games that don't tax my system too badly, such as Morrowind.

What's the point of doing that when you can download and play them using DOSbox?

Ah, I see. I'm not very knowledgeable in the world of computers and even less so what it'd take to accomplish what I suggest.
But all technical issues aside, if this could be done, would you appreciate it? Or rather, do you think it'd be a smart move?
And thanks for all your input.

the Majority wouldn't without doubt in my mind.. mainly due to graphics and the gameplay mechanics are not exactly the same speed as any game on the console today.

No, because every modern computer, gaming system or not, can run the games. There is no reason to put them on consoles when pretty much everyone these days has a computer.

What Frodo said. I think it would take a considerable amount of resources to make the game work on consoles. The thing with PCs is that you can run very old games on the same operating system with the right medium. I'm not sure it works the same way for consoles.

I've got Linux on my PS3, I suppose I could give it a shot... but uhh... I'd rather not try.

Was bad enough getting Arena to work on my full-fledged PC.

Oh thats right... I had linux on my PS3 -.-...

Oh darn. It sounds like i'm going to need to get a comfier chair and just settle for playing on my computer.
I sure do wish I could (would have) have gotten on the ES train when Arena was cutting-edge.

I hope I haven't offended any of you old time fans or hardcoe PC users with my ideas.
I know i'm sometimes at odds with the thought of ANYTHING being done to some of my old-time favourites.
