So whats all this then..... Skyrim!

Hey Guys,

I've been a fan of the TES games ever since I got my first taste of Morrowind on PC and then later on xBox. I loved everything about Morrowind and it just captivated me with its charm, beauty and excellence! I then got Oblivion again on PC first and then for my 360, although it didn't seem as good as Morrowind (hated "Fast Travel" Idea) it was still a fantastic game and I enjoyed many hundreds of hours with it. Now we have Skyrim due this year I couldn't be happier!

I'm not really up to date with everything Skyrim so was hoping a few of you lot could answer some of my questions please??

1). Vampires.... Are we going to see a return of them and their different factions/clans in Skyrim?
2). I keep reading about "Perks" - I hope this isn't the perk system used in FallOut 3....... Say it ain't so!!
3). Skyrim is set after the events of Oblivion right??
4). Is there going to be a collectors edition?
5). Are we going to see more armours, clothes and general items then ever before?
6). Skyrim seems small on the world map, are we expecting there to be less landmass then previous instalments?

I know that all of my questions might not be able to be answered yet but any info would be awesome! :)

  • Yes 200 years
  • unsure, but likely
  • Different than Oblivion yes, more? unknown
  • Its the same size as oblivion, but less space to actually run around since Skyrim is dominated by Mountains

Nothing confirmed so far.

2). I keep reading about "Perks" - I hope this isn't the perk system used in FallOut 3....... Say it ain't so!!

Not as in Fallout 3...so far from released information it seems more accurate to think of the "skill trees" from Diablo 2, except Bethesda calls each node on those trees a "perk" for some unknown reason.

3). Skyrim is set after the events of Oblivion right??

By 200 years, yes.

4). Is there going to be a collectors edition?

Nothing confirmed as yet, but I can't see it being the first highly-anticipated major release in 10 years without one.

5). Are we going to see more armours, clothes and general items then ever before?

Nothing confirmed as yet.

6). Skyrim seems small on the world map, are we expecting there to be less landmass then previous instalments?

Supposedly "comparable to" the size of Oblivion's game world, with the mountainous terrain lending it a larger "feel."

Perks are similar to Fallout, but not exactly the same. Each skill has it's own perk tree, and it branches off to help you specialize in certain things (the 1-handed weapon skill branches off into swords, axes, and maces, the destruction skill branches off into fire, frost and lightning, etc.).

1. Currently unknown but we are hoping for them :)
2.The perk system in skyrim is similar to the one from fallout 3 yes but im sure it won't be just a carbon copy
3.200 years after oblivion not sure if the last book was canon or not so idk if the events from it will count for skyrim
4.Most likely they did it with Oblivion so i don't see why not
5.Todd Howard actually said there are more armor types than in oblivion so heres hoping for some epic stuff
6.Its roughly the same size as oblivion but many people are saying the mountains will actually make it feel larger

Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the replies guys :)

I guess I will have to wait and see how this Perk/Skill Tree plays out, I just couldn't imagine Skyrim with a Perk system from FallOut.... it would just svck lol!!

I hope we get more unique and creative items like there were in Morrowind (Boots of blinding speed etc), they added a different aspect that seemed to be missing in Oblivion with its lack of "Rare" treasures.
