Whats next in the Elder Scrolls?

So. The prophecy is complete.

When misrule takes its place at the eight corners of the world: Arena

When the Brass Tower walks and Time is reshaped: Daggerfall
When the thrice-blessed fail and the Red Tower trembles: Morrowind
When the Dragonborn Ruler loses his throne, and the White Tower falls: Oblivion

When the Snow Tower lies sundered, kingless, bleeding, The World-Eater wakes, and the Wheel turns upon the Last Dragonborn: Skyrim

Granted, when Arena and Daggerfall were made, there probobly was no long term story arc planned out. But from Morrowind, with notes of the Empire falling and hints of the coming Oblivion Crisis, to Oblivion with its notes of unrest in Alinor, and the plot of another 'tower falling'. In hindsight we can see that a certain amoutn of all this build up was planned, and it was even suspected back then that it was all leading up to something. Well, Skyrim came and went, and Tamriel is still the Tamriel (more or less) we know and love.

I have no idea what to expect out of the next TES, aside from perhaps a Thalmor presence, and I love that. I'm not so happy that its probobly going to be around five more years before we get a hint however, since Fallout has to be finished and released, and as much as I love Fallout i want the answers naow.

None of us can really know, but I wanted to get some theories on whats next for Tamriel.

I think Skyrim was the start of a new sort of series. Arena to Oblivion saw the fall of the Septim empire, so perhaps Skyrim to WhateverIsTheThirdGameAfterIt will see the rise of an Elven empire?

I'm pretty sure that the second great thalmor war is the next thing to happen. It's pretty heavily implied in skyrim.

Each game (since Morrowind, I think) has always hinted as to what's going to happen in the next one.

As for TES VI it's pretty blatant that it's going to involve the AD in a big way. Maybe a resolution to the resistance in Hammerfell, or an Imperial invasion of the Dominion itself.

I don't see a new civil war but if Hammerfell does become the next province to get a game I want them to do what they did with Morrowind, have it so you can join a political faction (crown or forebear) and do enough missions to make you become the leader of the faction and to be able to build a stronghold or city

One prophecy being completed doesn't mean that entire Elder Scroll is exhausted. Each Scroll supposedly contains an unknown - possibly infinite- number of prophecies. And there are also an unknown - possibly infinite- number of Scrolls.

I'd personally say "We don't know, and can never know." but I have my theories, mostly involving the Thalmor, but I'm hesitant to say Thalmor, because usually anarchistic anti-establishment actions have not been part of the main quest's main goal, and it might feel odd for an Altmer to be doing the MQ. I'd like to think the Thalmor will just be a major piece of the MQ, but not the over ruling objective.

Im 100% behind this. I would love that...

As for the province, I would guess Hammerfell (or a portion of it). This would also offer a different view of the world considering the Redguard's rather Anuic point of view... or at least not Lorkhan-centric view.

I'm hoping for a game in Alinor. Aside from the threat of the Thalmor and the speculation that they may want to end the world, it'd be a good opportunity to introduce the Maormer to the series. I mean, surely they've recovered from that defeat in the War of the Red DIamond by now.

How could you play as anything aside from an Altmer (maybe a Bosmer) and not be killed on sight by the guards

I would like to wait for the Alinor game, honestly. There is so much that can be done with this Thalmor overplot in the AD's periphery, and cutting straight to the heart of the matter will only waste that potential. I would love to see another game in Hammerfell ("thwart the Thalmor's attempts to use Adamantine Tower," or some such), at least one game in Elsweyr and/or Valenwood (I imagine a kind of cold war on the border between them, which will either be exploited or suppressed during the course of the main or faction quests), and then afterward a game in Summerset (with the "canon" conclusions of the previous games allowing non-Altmeri residents to live on the Isles somehow, probably due to the PC weakening the Thalmor's position or changing their policies from within or something).

Yeah a Game in the Isles would require the fall of the Thalmor at least if not the Dominion itself if they are as indistinguishable as they seem.

Bringing this up from a previous thread.

Someone pointed out one Unfulfilled Prophecy mentioned in the book "The Hope of the Redoran"

"There are still other prophesies kept secret, from the prophesies of Dro'Jizad in Elsweyr and the Nerevarine in Morrowind, to the Elder Scrolls themselves."

I'd love to see the next Elder Scrolls take place in Elsweyr, where we could also deal with the Thalmor's presence there.

There's http://uesp.net/wiki/Lore:The_Tale_of_Dro%27Zira in Skyrim. At least a culture hero with a very similar name. Possibly an alternate spelling.

One popular fan theory is that it explains the saber cats and other less intelligent big cat species in Tamriel.

I read the Tale of Dro'zira, and there seems to be absolutely no connection at all.

The book never mentions Dro'zira being prophesied, It never even mentions Elsweyr (rather it tells of his presence at Red Mountain, and how he Saved Skyrim), and the Prefix "Dro" is a common part of Khajiit naming for the title of "grandfather", or just a sign of respect, the Two names don't really have any significance toward eachother. I highly doubt Jizad is an Alternate spelling to Zira.

I really hope so. I'm sick and tired of the story of ****ing Talos this and that blah, blah. The Humans had their chance for two eras now.

That still won't get rid of Talos in terms of story. Instead of hearing about how awesome he is, we'll hear about how evil he is. Regardless, we'll still be surrounded by him and the aftermath of his existence. As far as I'm concerned, that's a good thing. In my opinion, there needs to be a common thread throughout the series, and if Talos (or even Tiber Septim) is that thread, so be it.

Yeah, I know. I was talking more about men in general. Talos just happens to be their idol. An Elven Empire will be a nice change of scenery regardless I think.

Talos didnt seem all that important in Morrowind. I think that thread would Lorkhan (as subtly or straightforward as it may be). But its high time we see the thread from the other point of view. Time for some Aldmeri or Yoku love!

Nothing wrong from seeing it from the other side, as long as the thread exists. You're right, Lorkhan is perhaps a better representative of the thread, and we do see that in Skyrim as well, even with the constant harping about Talos from all sides--we do, after all, finally face Alduin in Shor's Sovngarde. But regardless of who the thread follows, I simply mean to say that there should be a somewhat-continuous thread throughout the whole series. So far, the most obvious thread would have been the Empire. I am simply trying to find some continuity in any future game that does away with the Empire entirely, as the above post suggests; change of pace can be good, but I don't want to see what amounts to a completely different series and story just because folks were bored with one (admittedly major) aspect of the story thus far.

Judging by the Comments of the Civil War Leaders at the end of the War and the effort that Beth gave to make us hate the Thalmor but gave a few small quests to off them in certain areas it's going to be the 2nd Great War or something completely different and more of a mindf**k

Hmm....

The invasion of Summerset is an Offscreen Moment of Awesome. The Dragonborn rallies the dragons to the cause of taking down the Thalmor and then disappears (as prophesized heroes are wont to do). The nations of mortals also rally under a coalition with the mutual goal of stamping out the Thalmor.

On Summerset, the occupational forces vary from wanting to rebuild Summerset and try to cool the anti-lesser-than-high-elf sentiments amongst the high elves, to being vindictive and want to exact more toll on Summerset in the form of reparations.

Amongst the high elves, there are those that just want the bloodshed to stop, and those who see the occupiers as the latter type (vindictive). All four groups can all agree on one thing though: The Thalmor remnant needs to be stamped out.

And in the middle of it all is the Psijic Order, practitioners of the Old Way, of Mysticism. They are split between a party wanting to use the order's prestige to intervene, to try and mediate it all, and those who think it's not their place to meddle.

But all that is irrelevant as recent Psijic scryings reveal the coming of an unknown factor: a person of innate, extraordinary preternatural talent with the Old Way, even if he/she has absolutely no skill at all with more common forms of magic. This person will force the matter for all parties involved, and set Summerset right (as he/she see it).

If we have to deal with another Offscreen Moment of Awesome on the scale of the Great War (especially immediately after the Thalmor were introduced as the biggest political threat to Tamrielic peace since Jagar Tharn), I will be more than a little disappointed. They built up this huge threat, now let us fight it!
