Whats the 1st thing you did after Helgen?

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 1:39 pm

So for you people who like to roleplay and have a plan for your character what are some of the first things you did after helgen? Or did everyone follow the MQ until they became thane of whiterun?

I went to the tree standing stones and picked the warrior stone, Then I went to Riverwood and did the quests there. Followed by some free-roaming afterwards.

Thane of Whiterun... yup, thats basically when things really open up.
Not that anything is closed before that, but you know what I mean.

Say, if you don't fight that first dragon, will dragons still attack you randomly?

Edit: Oh, I actually did the first dungeon before Whiterun, though... did it for the Riverwood Trader and then in Whiterun I was like "You mean this stone?"

Nope.

The trigger is the dragon fight at Whiterun.

This. I stayed around Riverwood for like 10 hours of gameplay. Good times.

Killed 3 bandits right close to cave exit, headed to guardian stone, entered the mine nearby and cleared, killed 2 more bandits kinda east of Riwerwood, sold stuff picked the claw quest&completed. Same rutine for each character, then whatever my rp leads to. While playing a thiefish char and running off with Ralof, next thing after above said rutine i went to Riften, where i tought i'd blend in easier.

Wow... that could make things so much easier. I'm gonna have to ignore the main quest with my second character.
What if you go to one of the dragon peaks? Are there still dragons there if they haven't been triggered?

I went right back into Helgen to try and get the headsman's gear! Sadly, there is nothing lootable in Helgen

Dragons are still there, but they are buried in the tombs :P only dragon you can fight before doing whiterun dragon attack quest is an undead dragon. Easiest way to ignore the MQ is just not going in to Bleak Falls barrow.

On my first playthrough, I played up until the Greybeards, but my others I go west or east to Falkreath.

I followed the Stormcloak to Riverwood to see if i could get any free stuff. There i met his sister and did get some free stuff. After sniffing around her for a while i started to do my own thing. After a few hours i realised how shallow the game was and didn't play for much longer.

Wandered aimlessly for a bit. Stumbled onto an abandoned camp and looted it blind, then the bandits that owned it showed up and I got to test out the dual wielding magic mechanics in a real fight.

Did a little more exploring and found a ruin full of skeletons and vampires. I tried to take on the master vampire at the end but he was too much for me at level 2. So with my tail between my legs and my pack full of spoils I turned and headed for the nearby town of Falkreath in order to unload some of the junk I was carrying on the local merchants. The town, I soon found out, was just full of jobs for an Orc like me.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

Jumped in the water. For some reason, months before the game came out I wanted to swim in the water so bad.

For the lulz, and because the Past Elder Scrolls sub forum isn't very active.

The first thing I did was jump into a river and let it carry me up north past Windhelm.

Ah, I see. Tend to do the same thing with Modern Warfare 3 forums (don't laugh). Care to explain why Skyrim is shallow? Because I don't see it.

Made my way down to Falkreath, aimlessly wandered the region northwest of town, and if I remember correctly, ran into a lot of Forsworn. My goal was to make it to the western edge of the map before completing any quests, but that didn't quite work out.

I think I hit Riverwood-Whiterun-Dragon around hour 12.

Guardian Stones, hit the bandit cave on the right before Riverwood, Bleak Falls Barrow and then take my sweet time getting to Whiterun.

I went to Riverwood where I found that Skyrim is completely lacking in NPC interaction and is more stale than Oblivions, at least they talked to eachother about current events or even said "hello" to eachother.

I followed the Stormcloak to see where he was going and ended up spending a little over ten hours there, most of it exploring trails. I swear, for every hour I play there must be two for sightseeing.
