Boston or NY. Both cities have well established infrastructure, both above and below ground. Both have recognizable monuments and well-defined suburbs to explore as well.
Others to consider would be Dallas, Texas and Chicago, Illinois.

Here is an idea: have the map be the area between Dallas and Houston, TX. Or maybe just use the whole of Massachusetts (really, we aren't that big...)

Yeah, I'd like to see maybe a lil more terrain variety. It'd be nice too see some remnants or patches of ice, but that'd probably have to be over in china or russia. China does sound like a good idea or some other European country. But I'm not sure what would really slap U.S. players in the face. I think there should be at least one "omg", from seeing a memorable monument or place being totally wasted and rusted with cryptic and erie remains. Las Vegas could be possible but someone mentioned it and yes, the developer would have to be careful not to make it too cheesy. New York would be interesting but it'd probably be too much ashpalt rubble and only a lil wasteland feel from the 1st one.

Note: Heh, It'd be funny to see in the future, a game like Fallout, be able to take a satellite image of our neighborhood (Or wherever the 360 is at) and reshape and deform it to be a post nuclear area. If we ever get technology like that... that'd be pretty cool.

Imagine this, you are one of the decendents of the U.S. troops that were sent to China (cannon as per fallout bible). You could tie the U.S. 50's theme and a kinda B.O.S. into it. You would probably still be fighting to take out the chinese (a generational quest). The mutants were created by the F.E.V. but that spread at least accross contenental U.S. so it could have been blown to other parts of the world. So you would still have mutants of different kinds and ghouls. Super mutants wouldn't exist since i doubt there would be a way for exposure to pure F.E.V.. But they could be replaced, it would be a really cool game i think set in China. I also love the Canada Idea and there would be great to mix with Alaska Ft. Mcmurray to the coast. The inuit would have survived and gone tribal and you would have some big city's in there from Ft. Mac, Ft. St. Johns, Yellow knife, Whitehorse, Anchoridge, it would be damn awsome too so there you go.

Fallout 4 - Canada Alaska

Fallout 5 - China

Not alot of Stuff in Alaska. Some parts of Canada would be nice.

I would like a Philly/Camden/Gloucester City/Burlington County area.

Not much of that part of Canada has much either but thats what the world should be isolated, you would feel more alone and more grateful when you reach someplace. Plus you could come across alot of left over oilfield stuff and battlegrounds. China did invade alaska so there would be abandoned military bases, and nucular silos. And think of scavanging old battlegrounds. You could find 100 rifles but in the end only end up with one working. And there would be alot of dangers mutated wolves and bears, muskeg sink pits, frozen tundra. It would be great.

Canada would be a good place to have Fallout 4. According to the Fallout timeline, Canada was annexed by the US. Canada should have been able to avoid most of the devastation in the US and it is possible that a few vaults were built in Canada.

It should be interesting to see what a mutated wolverine is like :P

If your going outside of USA you should go canada its close to the USA so you can still see things from the other games but add new and then if you choose to make a newer one you can reapeat the process by still moving out ward slowly

I think a worldwide one would be too vast and empty to comprehend. I am all for a change in location though and I think a european setting would be brilliant or possibly even in China so we could see what happend to them. Not that i have any problem with America as a setting for Fallout and would still play and love a forth game in that environment but exploring the ruins of an old city with european architecture would be magnificent.

Can anyone say Fallout mmorpg? :o

I'd like to see Detroit, assuming it hasn't been wiped off the face of the earth yet.

also London would be a good setting too.

Lets hope they make another appearance in FO3 eh?
