Whats the best location for Fallout 4?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:18 pm

Hi all,

Well I know we still need to see, play and love Fallout 3.
But if it rocks and the DLC rocks.
Whats the best location for Fallout 4?

Personally I love to see it take place in the Chicago-waste.
Primarily because we all know the main Chicago vault was outfitted with only gangster movies, books and mob related TV Holodisks.
(Presumably this was to study the effects of lawlessness & gang mentality on the human psyche.)
This would leave the Chicago wasteland populated primarily by 3 rival gangs, a lame squad of Untouchable do-gooders and a shadowy group no one knows much about.
I just think with the right people working on it you could make Chicago a true 1920's gangster paradise that those wannabes in New Reno would drool over.
After all, the Chicago vaults were big enough to store plenty of vehicles in.
What would gangsters do without car chases after all...

Correct me if I'm' wrong but didn't Fallout: Tactics take place in Chicago?

Personally I'd like to see it take place in New York or Vegas.

Yup, Tactics starts in Chicago.

This probably needs a poll, but I'd plump for New York, Manhattan ideally.

Yes your right, I only played through Tactics 1 or 2 times way back when.
So it looks like I forgot that...
But it's not like all the old baggage needs to find it's way into new games.

Denver...

I wonder if Texas survived the war

Though think about it with how advanced computers have gotten, why not make a worldwide wasteland populace using the same standard game style that the classic FO used? Start somewhere and explore all the way around the world, China, Russia to India, England, Australia and back to the US.

I think a worldwide one would be too vast and empty to comprehend. I am all for a change in location though and I think a european setting would be brilliant or possibly even in China so we could see what happend to them. Not that i have any problem with America as a setting for Fallout and would still play and love a forth game in that environment but exploring the ruins of an old city with european architecture would be magnificent.

I don't really care where, as long as its fallout. But if did have a choice in the matter, id say Europe. Maybe you could visit the bigger cities of all the European countries.

Edit:
The royal castle in Stockholm would make a VERY nice HQ for some shady faction :D

Cool I like it...
But it would take 10 years just do one played through and thats just going to the main tourist destinations.
Russia or China definitely sounds cool and let us see the war from their perspective.
Just imagine the opportunities.
Your great-grandfather was a covert CIA officer posing as a member of the diplomatic corps in Moscow or Beijing.
And when the time is right your (partially damaged) hand-me-down Pip-Boy starts giving you bits and pieces of data files, somewhat damaged video diary entries and and other clues as to his secret life & how to complete a world changing mission your grandfather was given just days before the war. The first three quarters of the game could be searching for replacement parts for your American-made Pip-Boy & maybe breaking into a KBG archive to retrieve strong data encryption breaking tools to to access all the mission files.

Same here. There'd be plenty American and Chinese military bases where all kinds of strange things could have been happening, and thanks to it being an area both sides wanted to capture, not destroy, there would have been relatively few nukes used.

A Fallout set in New York would be great, but I think NY would have been burned to the ground by now. I'm from NY, and it has never had a 50's look to it.

I am not a fan of having a single city used as a location for a Fallout game. For me, part of what made FO1 so great was that you were traveling long distances through the wasteland to find small camps of people or the remnants of once great cities... but you weren't forced to spend all your time in once city.

I also would like to see the perspective of the war from Russia/China/Japan. Did they build shelters? Did anyone actually survive in any part of the world besides the US? Are there tribal peoples in Africa or S. America who didn't get bombed that have adapted to the new post nuclear climate and have migrated to N. America or elsewhere to encounter "Vault" people. That would be a great storyline IMO.

I'd rather see a prequel. Set in Alaska and moving over to China. The bulk of the game would occur before the dropping of the bombs.

Yes a prequel would be good...but I'd rather it be set shortly after the bombs fell, in the emediate aftermath of it all.
