I am semi new to the Elder Scroll's series. I have only beaten Arena and Daggerfall. I started Morrowind Thursday 7-14-2011 and I am on day 74. My question is I see all of this armor dropping off of guys that I kill, however early on in the game I would get jumped by the dark brotherhood and since then I have been using their armor which is always leaps and bounds better then the stuff I find. So what gives? why allow such godly armor so early on in the game that seems to have such a higher raiting DEF then any other light armor?

Well, the dark brotherhood armor is from the Tribunal expansion, so they balanced it with high level players in mind. They just forgot to put a decent delay on the assassin's attack to avoid giving the armor to new players too soon.

Also bear in mind that there is better Light armor, which, to be perfectly frank, isn't that hard to acquire either. You'll probably like the look of this armor more, as well, when you come across it.

Yeah, the Dark Brotherhood armour is balanced with higher leveled players in mind, as it's from the Tribunal expansion. An expansion that has a recommended starting level of 20 or so. Besides, you'll be able to pick up some better Light Armour pretty soon, as it pops up in some of the higher leveled dungeons.
