Whats the diffrence between Fo3/new Vegas

Post » Wed Sep 15, 2010 4:59 pm

Im just wondering what the diffrence is between New vegas and fall out 3, I can get all the add ons and the original game for around the same price as New Vegas alone so Im thinking the add ons would be better because you get more playing time, and Im thinking the only diffrence between them is in fall out new Vegas they added a few "fancy" weapons, and a few more minor things, would'nt this be just the same as the add ons?

Thanks, and I'm still pre-ordering Fall out New Vegas haha.

It's a different game from start to finish. Different story, different place, different characters, different start to finish. Of course it still takes place in the Fallout world but it is a stand alone game.

For the love of god, some people STILL think New Vegas is an add-on?! It's a full game, not "a few minor things."

F:NV is a completely different game. Engine wise, its been changed to accommodate some of the new features like the companion wheel and several new weapon animations. And the obvious new weapons, armors, etc.

The ONLY similarity is that they look similiar. Other than that, EVERYTHING is completly different.

You mean besides being a full-sized game that takes place nowhere near Fallout 3's location and playing as a totally different character in an entirely different campaign?

Why do people have such a hard time realizing its a whole new game? The only thing that is the same is the engine and graphics. Are Call of Duty 2 and Cal of Duty 3 the same?

They aren't the same though, they have similarities but are entirely different games.

It's more in the spirit of the first two games. The first Fallout's were set around the California and Nevada area. And as another poster stated, it has an entirely different story that is not at all connected with Fallout 3. Hopefully, we'll hear about some of our exploits that we did in DC though. That would be cool, hearing tales of a "water purifier" somewhere out east.

If you didn't have Fallout 3 then there is really no difference in the decision of picking between New Vegas and Fallout 3.

New Vegas is a totally new story but why would that make a big difference if you've never played FO3.

This is getting locked before I have to hand out warnings and posting ability suspensions to people.

Fallout New Vegas is a distinct game; not an add-on or expansion, made by a different studio, using the same engine as Fallout 3, set in the same game world.
