Whats up with all the immortal npcs?

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 6:14 am

Why is everytime I commit a crime I cant kill all the witnesses because some stupid kid or immortal npc saw me. This is really dumb and needs to fixed now.

Yeah font know for sure but believes he's egsagerating . Anyway there are 204 immortal nova not including children. Would you prefer it be like morrowind and all are able to be killed? Cause if u are on pc there is a way.

Its not hard to kill someone and not be seen. Make sure your completely hidden, then attack with a 1h weapon or bow. If you do it right in front of someone else, then yeah you will be seen. Use common sense.

If they cry out in alarm that alerts the witnesses. In other words, you just have to get better at it. One hit kills will help, so get those perks that assist with that.

Or, your character could take up a new line of work, perhaps homicide is not their forte......

Yeah, it svcks.

If I end up breaking a quest, so be it. I'd rather that than have a bunch of immortals roaming around.

Being seen is not the problem. Disposing the witnesses is.

I think one of the major reasons is the random dragon attacks. I hope that all of the NPC's needed for quests ARE immortal or a dragon could ruin my ability to do quests.

Simple. Only you can kill them.

It is annoying having seemingly random NPC's be essential.

If I'm on the Stormcloak side, why are the Imperial commanders in the camps marked as essential? Captain bear-head told me to wipe them out but I can't.

Then there is the Battle-boar guy in Whiterun who keeps insulting the Stormcloaks. He glitched into my house and I jumped on him. Nope, he's essential

THIS! A THOUSAND TIMES THIS!!!!!!

Nothing like wiping out an imperial camp only to have to reload to a previous save point because some immortal ennemy is bugging out my companion (they keep going back to hit him every time he stands up, so I can literally not leave the camp without losing Lydia).

And to the smart-ass in this thread: yes, i would MUCH rather prefer being able to kill quests. Thats acutally what I loved from morrowind: you can kill anyone, but dont want to... not because of a dumb prison system, but because of what those NPCs might bring you in the futur. Immortal quest givers just totally destroys the immersion for which I play TES games in the first place.

That being said, they make for extremely easy combat skill leveling rofl!

Whats wrong with having max bountys put out on you?

kill the bounty man, make money and gear.

Sometimes the defeated bounty man will join you.

Just carry around buckets and place them on peoples heads before you commit a crime like all the other master criminals.

Agreed. Being able to kill everyone was one of the things I enjoyed most about TES. Not that I was running around slaying whole towns, but I liked to know that my decisions had actual consequences that couldn't be undone. To me, immortal NPCs are like invisible walls - I have an illusion of freedom, but it turns out all was decided for me. It breaks the immersion. I don't understand why they changed the previous system. It was perfect. A message telling you that you broke the quest, leaving you the choice to reload or continue in "a world wihout hope". It also taught us to think before we kill someone, because in the future we might miss out on something valuable.
Besides, how is it possible that so many NPCs are essential? <_<
