Whats with the high ping?

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 7:02 pm

Lately like a half of the games that show up on on the server boards have a ping of exactly 1000. I dont think this is a problem that I have ever had before. Is anyone else expieriencing this.

I have just installed a new router But speedtest.net states that my conection from my PC is fine even when im wired into the router.

In my case I'm from the UK and I see a lot of 1000 ping servers, I go to the ones that seem to be in Germany and often get 40-80 pings in matches instead.

Just try to find servers nearest to your country and play a match, if at the end of the match you see yourself having a high ping, just leave and find another server with a shorter delay. You can find the ACTUAL ping on the scores screen at the end of the match under the icon column that looks like a dot with three radiating semi-circles above it.

Take note that the match ping DOESN'T show up if you later go to the 'see previous results' screen. You have to look at your own ping before the scores disappear the first time. If you care, you can also see the average ping is for other players on the server too.

Pressing the 'tab' key in-game will also show the pings of all players.

The game use 1000 for servers that fail to reply to the ping test.
Is that caused by the distance from the host or just my internet connection?
