i have been checking gametrailers.com, ign.com, and a bunch of forums and why is there a huge lack of updates on this game?? i feel like they should keep us updated to keep the buzz going! all we have is a 15 minute demo and a slideshow of the races in the game... cmon bethesda are you trying to get the hype to die down on purpose or something? at this rate by the time the game comes out only hardcoe fans will even remember it came out

Well, it's near release so not too much info, so when you finally get the game you'll be blown away by its epicness!

Some people want it that way.

Speculation fuels hype.

They are building anticipation.

Best to experience the game with your own eyes/hands, then to see some videos and ruin the experience.

Oh, and people will remember because they haven't forgottten. And if they did, Skyrim will be reviewed....

I know- the forums are running dry with info. Even TGL1992 is having trouble locating articles/hands-on reviews with new and juicy details... which is rare.

Maybe this is just the calm before the storm. Soon they'll unleash a tsunami of vague information on us with only one or two amazingly great confirmations. That's all I'd want really. Tons of small details with 1 or 2 big 'eye-openers.'

Not to mention.. i think bethesda doesn't like to buil a bunch of hype like activision and EA and all that.. they like word of mouth and hardcoe fans.. and people who have been around since arena or daggerfall.. or even since morrowind.

I expect commercials and trailers right before release, but as for right now they definitely seem to have taken the "less is more" approach to building anticipation.

I've always felt that was a wierd approach because the hardcoe fans were pretty much guaranteed sales the second the game was announced. You'd think the main goal of advertising would be to attract people who aren't familiar with the series with lots of pretties.

It'd be nice to see some new screenshots or maybe get the theme up on the media page for download. I don't need more system/story info but it would be nice to have something to check out.

I'm kind of glad they aren't releasing much. As much as I crave new videos, screenshots and info I'm glad they're keeping it under wraps so we'll have loads of things to see and do, and also be surprised by stuff they haven't spoiled.

Though there will likely be a new trailer or something leading up to release as the final cog in the hype machine.

TV ads won't hit until it's around 2 weeks before release. And if that will be a national campaign, who knows.

My guess is because of the release of Rage. Id is owned by Bethesda and if you look at Bethesda's blog it's mostly been talking about Rage's release. They probably want people buying that right now. I know the only reason that I know as much as I do about Rage is because it keeps popping up when I look for Skyrim info. Releasing tons of Skyrim info now would be like blizzard throwing out a bunch of WoW previews the week Diablo 3 comes out, it's kind of counter productive to keeping the hype of the game your releasing now at it's peak.

I would imagine that right now a number of major publications and game sites are getting their hands on the near finished build of Skyrim to queue up the media Salvo that I'm sure we'll get hit with in about 2 weeks. Makes thes most sense from a marketing standpoint.

You know why people don't give away much information? Because they don't want people to know; they want to surprise people, I hope this answers your question.

Gametrailers is really just a... game trailer site. At most they do reviews.

And IGN? They actively hate Skyrim for some reason and are probably all busy playing Dark Souls right now anyway.

Bethesdas not really much for hype, its only ever been the fans who take some tidbit out of proportion and hype the hell out of it(like RAI for Oblivion). Theyll probably start releasing some more stuff once it goes gold. Personally I wouldnt release info out of spite because people seem to think theyre entitled to it for some reason, but Im not a game developer.

Edit: And I dont expect it to take long for Bethesdas RAGEing PR to die down so they can get to the good stuff, not with the way it flopped on PC like Brink did.

It's a marketing procedure, the less you talk about a great thing, the more the people will talk about it. That's basicly what apple has done with the I-phone. Just the skyrim trailer is a must-buy for some people
