I wasn't finished with this bio, and once I was I was going to start a thread similar to this asking people to give a similar type bio for their character, but I guess it's too late now so I'll throw it up before it gets lost forever.
This is for my 3rd playthrough.
Captain Chuck “Bear” Hathcock. Born: December 7, 2238. (Aged 44)
Elite NCR Sniper.
Turned down position with Rangers to stay with team in 1st Recon, but sniping ability gave him too much notice with NCR military, and eventually took a promotion when the NCR, in 2268, created an elite “scout” team consisting of the best of the best snipers in the NCR. The team, branded the 13th Scout, was composed of the 13 best pure snipers in the NCR. Each man was his own Fireteam, and each man had his own Alphabetical callsign, with the best snipers being at the top; their position on the list being an indication of their skill level. Hathcock was 2nd, his call sign being “Bear” outnumbered only by the infamous “Adum” who rumors continue to circle about to this day that he was a spy from a foreign eastern power, though nothing can be confirmed. Hathcock, however, was the first man the NCR called upon the Section being formed, and he decided he couldn’t turn down such an opportunity. This call of adventure was simply too special to walk away from. Despite being branded a scout team, and yes, scouting was an important role in the Long 13’s job duties, the 13th were used often as assassins by the NCR. The snipers were trained extensively in becoming a one man, stealthy, but destructive war machine. They were experts in all forms of standard firearms, and even received some training in energy weapons. They learned to handle explosives, as well as other important tasks an assassin might need to know, such as hacking pre-war computers. They received tremendous amounts of mental training as well, for the times where they would spend months in the desert, alone, tracking enemies, venturing through enemy territory, etc etc. They were also trained to resist torture, but most of the men were too prideful to be taken alive, and all made a pact that they would fight to the death if ever put in that situation. By the year 2281, 9 of the 13 men have been killed, keeping true to the pact that they made with each other when they were selected. Hathcock has survived as one of the remaining 4, with one retiring not too long ago at the age of 34, another who has been missing for a couple years, and is presumed dead, but this can’t be confirmed. The 4th man? The 4th man is of course, the mysterious “Adum” who has garnered a lot of attention lately, as members amongst the NCR have sworn to see him back in the Mojave’. This is, of course, just a silly rumor.
Hathcock was born in Maxson in the year 2238, to parents Max & Joanna Hathcock. Chuck’s father was a mechanic/engineer in the NCR military, who spent most of Chuck’s teenage years away working on, and reverse engineering tech that was salvaged from the NCR’s war with the Brotherhood. His mother was an entrepreneur within the NCR, who, thanks to the lack of available transportation, would often spend long periods of time away from her son, trying to sell a brand of soda she had invented. Business was poor. Needless to say, this was a symbol that even 200 years after the bombs dropped, Nuka Cola still had a lock down on the carbonated beverage community. This left Chuck and his two siblings-one sister and one brother-in the care of their grandfather. Chuck’s grandfather was one of the original NCR Rangers. Joining the Rangers at the age of 22, he became one of the most famous members of the young task force. Not much is known about his grandfather’s career and time in the Baja however, as that information is classified. Regardless, Chuck’s grandfather realized that Chuck had a knack for shooting, and was the one who taught young Chuck how to snipe, hunt, track effectively. He also taught him secrets for living off of the radioactive wasteland. Eventually the point came where his grandfather realized that his grandson’s skill had far surpassed his own, and came to the conclusion there was nothing more he could teach the boy. At the age of 17, Hathcock joined the NCR military, achieving just one of the goals he had set for himself at a young age. It wasn’t long before the NCR military realized what incredible skill this young man had, and soon promoted him to First Recon.
It kind of works out well since Hathcock is such a highly classified soldier in the NCR, and needs to maintain his cover, he can't tell anyone he works for the NCR. Therefore, he has good reputation with them and helps the NCR in the Mojave, but nobody knows he is NCR. The problem with being a double agent is the stupid eyes of ranger quest, which craps on my rep everytime I "help" the Legion. I suppose my own army hating me at some point makes for a good story though.
