So like the title says:

Whats your FPS back ground?

Mine is 10 years worth of Halo with a little mix of Battlefield 2.
Because of those games ive learnt to think on my feet, alone. Yet also work as a team, to complete objectives and do whats best for the majority.

So whats YOUR FPS background? :gun:
Doesn't matter where you come from, we are all here to collaborate and share the Brink experience.
So no game bashing or what have you, play nice :foodndrink:

Terrible practice, I know. But I love me the Borderlands. :mohawk:

Doom2 through to now, I used to be in a rather successful 'Quake3' clan, have gone off most modern DM.TDM games, and now only really play for fun........Who gives a damn about KDR its a meaningless number! like the weight of a star!

Halo 3 was the first game I bought for my Xbox 360. I also have played a bit of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. The first FPS I bought was for the Nintendo Wii and it was Metal of Honor: Heroes 2.

Combat Arms, 3 years ago. I was such a wimp back then - I was too scared to play it because I thought the tiny blood spats would get me sick.

I got better, but ultimately left since you had to purchase other guns with in-game money, and they would expire in a month, a week, or even 24 hours.

My FPS skills got rusty as I took up Roblox on my free time, and when the 4-year-old community (Literally. It advertised to small children primarily.) pissed me off too much, I left, but not before finding Team Fortress 2.

Buy Team Fortress 2 (Still the best 20 bucks I have ever spent), use Steam to buy 50 other games. The vast majority of them are FPSes.

Then I found BRINK.

I'm a hunter, 'round the 61-66 area. To be honest I can't remember my level. I stopped playing a while ago after I got tired of being [censored] when trying to do stuff in Armory....haven't finished yet and I have yet to even start Clap Rev...but sniping all the way that's what I'm specced for. :mohawk:

I mostly play RPGs and puzzle games but FPSs have been a stable since I started gaming much. Doom and Doom 2 were my first, and then I moved on to the Doom Toos like Dark Forces (I never did much with Wolfenstein 3D and its clones). A smattering of build engine titles followed - I largely stayed away from the first generation of polygonal FPSs, Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight is the only exception I can think of off the top of my head. I played some of the second generation ones, Quake 2, Half Life, and NOLF (honestly NOLF is the best FPS series out there in my opinion). AvP and Quake 3 were big in college and there were a number of good games that game out of id tech 3. My only experience with Halo is a bit of Halo 2 multiplayer at my brother-in-law's, I've never played a CoD or Battlefield game. Crysis was awesome however, I wish more games had that degree of flexibility.

I played games like GoldenEye and Halo 1 will my friends, but RTCW was my first serious FPS. That's when I first got online and started playing with teams. After about 1,000 hours on that game I haven't found an equal. Gears of War 1 (while not a FPS) was the closest shooter to capturing that same competitive magic. Brink has me excited more than any FPS in a long time.

Like CJisInsane, my skills were 1st honed on Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. And AnTiGIZMO, I couldn't agree with you more.

I've dabbled in most of the major FPS games over the years, but never stuck to them long for the exact reason AnTiGIZMO said. All people care about for the most part is KDR. No one plays for the simple joy of playing. Right now, my main FPS game is MAG, because it's about more then point and shoot, which is why Brink appeals to me so much.

10 years of halo?
Me too!

I never actually played ONLINE until the latter days of halo 3
playing both left 4 dead's with my dad and my uncles has engineered me into being a team-player,

Also MW2 and bit of red dead redemption
I still play TF2 on the orange box
and monday night combat!

lots of single-player games mixed in there too like fable, fallout, bulletstorm,
Also used to play super-smash-brothers on wii and gamecube all the time
I also play some little big planet, but not much.

edit
i JUST noticed that he specified FPS background
oh, well, i had that up there already

Damn you've had a long history with Steam. I take it you've cleared games such as Killing Floor, Half-life, Counter Strike? I love Garry's Mod myself I always play it when I go to a friend of mine's house.

It started with Goldeneye and Perfect dark, then a little known gem called "James bond Night fire" which has some of the best 4 player multilayer ever. Then star wars battlefront I and II, more recently BFBC2 and a wee bit of Halo reach...

First game I played was Duke Nukem 3D back in kindergarten. I loved it. Since then, I've played a ton of FPS's. Played Team Fortress 2 competitively for a few months; didn't like the competitive scene so left, but still play in tournaments occasionally. Recently I've gone back to WET and ETQW to prepare for Brink. A couple of my friends and I actually won a small WET tourny a few weeks back, cash from it went directly to Brink. ;)

Yeah i know that feeling. The game can be relentless at some stages. But if you can get someone to play with, or a group, its so much more fun.
Sniping FTW, my Hunters specced for sniping and the use of his bloodwing now.
If you ever do hit 69, try to do a run of Crawmarax.. thats a lot of fun ;)

On a general note:

Good to see everyone is taking an interest in this and in a mature manner =D
