Whats your current PC specs?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 7:24 am

First off, I understand the system requirements havent been released. This is just something to play with for fun.

My current PC :
CPU - i7 920
GPU - 2x Gigabyte ATI HD4890 in x-fire
RAM - 6GB
OS - Vista 64bit

Potential upgrades :
OS - Win7
GPU - maybe... maybe something DX11 compatible if Skyrim makes use of the tech.
and a bigger screen. 21 inches wont cut it with skyrim. ;)

CPU: Phenom II 925
GPU: 1GB RADEON 4890
RAM: 4GB (some brand, don't remember since I built it 2 years ago)
OS: Win7 x64

Thinking about getting a new GPU later this year, something with DX11 and possibly overclocking my CPU (it's at 2.80GHz right now.

I am still using a 5 year old Pentium 4, :sadvaultboy:
9800 GT that is very underutilized. 2 gigs of RAM (all that my board can support)
but I am building my own soon. maybe even overkill :woot:

April 2012 marks the 2yr mark on my laptop and it will be replaced between then and the end of that year. I plan to keep my desktop as is for the foreseeable future.

Phenom II 3.0 Quad core
ATI 4870 1GB
4 GB DDR2

Upgrading my ram to 6GB other than that I don't plan on it, I am hoping for high settings with Skyrim, due to it being cross platform it can't be to absurd.

Btw can I mix DDR2 and DDR3 or whatever is the latest ram?

Also is DX11 a big deal?

Here are my specs:

i5 750 @ 2.66ghz

HD 5850

4gb ram

Windows 7

I might upgrade my gpu before Skyrim releases but hopefully I can run it at least on medium settings.

Current specs in my Sig. Upgrade plans depend on if Skyrim really pushes my rig. If Skyrim has DX11 support I will be upgrading right before release. If the game comes out and aside from AA AF and higher res is identical to the 360 version? Then it will run just fine on my rig (Sadly) and I will wait for some graphical overhaul MOD's to upgrade. (HD texture pack, Skyrim Graphics Extender, etc.)

Oblivion looks damn good modded, but when not recording in FRAPs I get 30-60 FPS still.

Hopefully Bethesda surprises us and really supports PC with some special goodies for those of us that enjoy PC Gaming/ Power Rigs.

No.

I'll upgrade to whatever I need. Might even get a new monitor that's bigger than my current 19 inch.

You can't mix DDR2 and DDR3 and DX11 isn't tremendous, most changes are subtle, lighting improvements, tessellation and cutting through DX10 like butter, but for you upgrading the GPU in the fall would probably be the best timing... you can skip the HD6xxx series or grab a left over HD6950 on the cheap then unlock it.

I am impressed by the Cooler Master cases (like the HAF 932)
are they worth it?

Some Asus motherboard(don't remember it's specs, to lazy to look them up)
Intel Quadcore 2.6Ghz Processor
3Gigs of DDR2 800 MHZ ram
Dual 9800 GT(GTX?) Geforce Graphics Cards(They are either 768MB or 1gig Cards)
Windows XP

I'd like to upgrade to Windows 7(regardless of skyrim), and I'd like to upgrade to at least a single 240GTX Geforce Graphics card(maybe 400 series, but I've heard the 400 series is exactly the same as the 200 series really). Also, one more stick of Ram to give me 4Gigs if I upgrade to Windows 7(Cuz my Xp is 32 bit, and I"ll be buying 64 bit Windows 7).

I do wonder how much of an upgrade it would be to go from 2 graphics cards(even if they are only 9800 GT(GTX?) to a single 240GTX or Higher.

My current laptop:

Envy 15
i7-820QM
1GB Mobility Radeon 5830
16GB 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM
320GB (2 x 160GB) Intel X18 G2 SSD in Raid0
1920x1080 display
USB 3.0, eSATA
14.96" (W) x 9.60" (D) x 1.04" (H)

I expect I will probably be able to get playable (but not excellent) frame rates at 1920x1080, in DX11 mode, all detail settings maxed. Hopefully we won't need to replace all the textures with HD textures again.

Also hoping that this new engine will make a lot more efficient use of hyperthreading and RAM in excess of 4GB compared with the Gamebryo engine.

Gateway P-7811 FX Laptop

NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTS graphics with 512 MB of discrete video memory-GDDR3 SDRAM

Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P8400 @ 2.26 GHz

4GB of DDR3 SDRAM - 1066.0 MHz

More details: http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/gateway-p-7811fx/4507-3121_7-33201021.html

Can't make any upgrades unfortunately since it's a laptop and from what I understand most of the components are hardwired in. I think I remember reading that I might be able to replace the CPU but I've never really had enough trouble playing games to justify that.

Since game consoles mean games need to be scaled back a bit graphically (or at least be able to run with not as many bells and whistles) I'm not too awfully concerned about whether or not I'll be able to run the game. If I have a full time job by that point I might get the XBox 360 version too in case there's either exclusive DLC or if I just feel like playing the game without mods and such.

Intel Core i7 940XM (3.33 GHz, 8M cache)
SLI 1GB GDDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285M
8GB DDR3
1TB Raid 0
17-inch WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 RGB LED (1200p)
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Will be upgrading the graphics card when a better nvidia mobile graphics card comes out that is DX11 compatible. Hurray for no integrated graphics card!

CPU: AMD Phenom 9100e 1.8 Ghz Quad core
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 3200 (built into the motherboard, yeah its terrible)
RAM: 4 Gb
Vista 64 bit

I think I'll be fine as long as I get a good video card, I honestly couldn't buy anything worse anymore.

Gefore 9800 GT 1gig
2.4 gig quad core processor
4 gigs of RAM
250 gig HD

I can still play every game that comes otu these days. Just some of the newer ones I have to turn down the settings a little.

Ya know. I can play older games on max graphics settings, like oblibion, and they look much better than todays games on medium settings. Sure the newer games look much better on Max settings, but for the same hardware the older games look much better. Its a scam.

I can play Crysis on max settings and it look amazing, and it still looks a hell of alot better than many of the games these days.

If skyrim really is on the bleeding edge of technology and makes use of dx10/11 I'll upgrade my computer most definitely, otherwise, i'll probably do it anyways this year, so atm i have.

Core2Duo @ 2.2GHz
HD 4870/1 gig
4 gigs or ddr3 1066 ram
over a TB of HDD space. BRING ON THE MULTI DVDS!
Windows 7 ultimate x64
21.5" 2048x1152 monitor. Mmmmm I love this baby.

I7 950 @ 4.2GHz
MSI Big Bang Xpower mobo (6 PCI-E 16x slots. :celebration:)
6GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600MHz RAM @ 1600MHz 7-8-7-20
2x 5870's in crossfire @ 900/1200
80GB SSD main drive. WD Caviar Black as storage/application drive. (Though I run games/some apps off the SSD using junctions.)
Windows 7 64 bit

I have many plans for this rig but little of it involves the above. I want to add water cooling, 2 more 24" 1920x1200 monitors for Eyefinity, and I may, I repeat may consider (a) different GPU/s. Though I have many things I want to buy and the priority changes from week to week.

I'm ready for Skyrim no matter what happens at this point though. :)

Thanks for info. So you think right now my Processor is up to date?(I think I got it almost a year ago, the GPU almost 2 years, always around tax returns!). How much are those cards going for, are they bigger than my 4870? I can't fit anything bigger than that, my old 1800XL I thought was big then I got the 4870, oh my!

CPU: Intel core2 quad core 9650
GPU:PNY GTX 470
PSU:Thermaltake Black Widow 850 watt
RAM: 6gb Corrsair xms2 DDR2 800
Western Digital 1 TB Caviar black
ASUS VE276Q 27" Full HD monitor
Win7 home premium

Not much need for any upgrades...except maybe a dedicated sound card, although I could probably do without one just fine.

My Specs:

CPU: AMD Phenom 9950 (Quad-core, 2.6ghz)

Graphics Card: Radeon 4850 1gb

RAM: 4gb DDR2

OS: Windows 7 64bit (I plan on upgrading my RAM)

It may not seem very powerful, but I'm only running on a 19 inch monitor with a native resolution of 1360x768, so it should be able to handle Skyrim pretty well. If I get some extra money over the summer, I plan on doing some major upgrading, though.
