I have to choose the Elven and Orcish armors. Still, I love the other ones in their own ways. Bethesda has really outdone themselves in terms of art and visuals for this installment.

I havent seen a whole load of various types, but from what i have seen in game myself.

Light - Leather
Heavy - Steel plate

Dragon priest masks are pretty sick too.

Depends of the role play. For now it's:
1 - Falmer (for females)
2 - Nightingale (male and female)

Personally it's like this for me.

Daedric > Nightingale > Ebony

Thats my 3 favourites at the moment

currently my best is probably:
boots of the old gods
gloves of the old gods
thieves guild armor
thieves guild hood

but I swap, a lot.

I carry at least three full sets of armor with me, unless I was on an infiltration mission or something. I do not know where I carry them, but I swear I have them somewhere.

I love the Daedric Helmet, I have yet to find some suitable clothing to wear with it.

Nightingale Armor looks, hands down the best so far. A shame my elven is so much better!! Just started a Heavy, and all steel w a steel honed helmet looks awesome!!

Dwemer armor has been my favorite since Morrowind (dig on the variation in ascetics between each game)

I love the rusty iron armor and helmet for adventures in the wilds. Sometimes wear a full set of steel plate armor for attending Jarls etc, thus my nord looks more knightly for the appropriate occasions.

Actually ... my favorite is UnArmored.

Disappointed that it's not in Skyrim. It should be.

I like Ebony but the gap between the helmet and body armour makes me cringe.

Dragonplate (come at me, bro). I just really like the look of the boots, helmet, and chestpiece. The gloves are pretty neat to, and I like the pants somewhat. I really don't understand the people who dislike it.

Edit: Leather Armor and Nightingale Armor are awesome too.

I like the Glass set, and the Thalmor cloth stuff looks cool. A lot of the leather thief/assassin-type sets are nice, but unfortunately, I am stuck wearing these damned caster robes.

Of those I've seen, it gotta be:

Light: Thieves Guild Armor, Shrouded Gloves, Shrouded Boots and Volsung.
Heavy: I'm not sure, Ebony and Steel Plate are epic.
