I'll cheat, and say FCOM. But since that is really like 4 mods, I'll have to choose something else...

Hmmm, if I could only have ONE mod, it would be DarnUI. I hate the regular interface with a passion.

With out a Doubt MY new Favorite mod is ...OSR

Without Oblivion Stutter Remover i have a twitchy crash ridden experience.

With FCOM REVWD and now getting 3 Hour steady game sessions locked in at 30 FPS & max in Menu 85. It so smooth i find it hard to believe.

So I pick that one >>>>OSR.

Duke Patricks Combat Archery - Without a doubt if I was restricted to one mod, this would be it.

I considered Streamline, but if restricted to one mod that would not be so necessary.

I'll cheat too and say Unique Landscapes Compilation. That's like 20 mods in one, but in one shiny .omod. I like that. :)

So many... Lineage Elves for races, FCOM for the overhaul, QTP3 for textures, BWs Argonian Hair and Beautification for my Argonians, hundreds of tweaks that I can't play without, Lost Spires for quest, Better Cities for, well, cities :D ...

Overall I would have to say it is Unique Landscapes as well as it makes the world much more interesting so our carefully crafted characters have good places to go. :)

Cut and paste from an old topic:
As for my favorite mods, there many I love to play with. I give ya just some I really, REALLY like:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9280 <--- I love to play as fox!
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5296 <--Patches many things up!
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22282 with http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22410 <-- Remove many annoying CTD, including the one when exiting the game.
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16513 <---- Cities becomes more interesting.
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11280 <---Awesome UI with a hint of customization
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1888 <---- Old School, but beat Oblivion's Leveling System
OOO/MMM <--- Level Scaling fixer it is.

There a hell lot more to list, but too lazy to list them all. : P

One mod? Just one mod...? Argh.

Okay. Mart's. There. I picked one.

Mind you, I reserve the right in 5 minutes to choose a completely different one. Perhaps LAME. Or Malevolent. Or Fran's. Or COBL. Or something else.

I'd argue for one of my own but that is like voting for yourself, which anyone can do. I would have to say my favorite mod by someone else is:

Companion Sound Sets 2.1
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13329

These voice sets allow you to choose what kind of custom voices you want your companions to use. Since I have six humanoid companions milling around various places in Cyrodiil this is a must for me.

I refuse to pick just one. You can't make me! I love Natural Environments, Better Cities, All Natural; really enjoying Chocolate Elves/Lattamer/Xenius' races (I have one character from each, to play each archetype); all the fun little accessories from the Apachii store compilations; . I also can't imagine not using the Darkified/Darn UI (with the blue colour replacers!) or small things like Rainbows; realistic campfires; more realistic lava; etc.

...however, a little gem I really enjoy on my mage that hasn't gotten a lot of downloads/recognition, for your enjoyment:

Requires a separate ESP for each person's sound set you employ, doesn't it?

Yes. Separate .esp's and separate downloads. You will also have to hear the voice yourself because there is only so much that type can describe a voice.

One other thing: Quicksave before casting the spell to add the voice. I don't think that the remove voice works correctly. That way you can quickload if you don't like the voice.

EDIT:
The real reason you should quicksave is, because the remove voice does not work then trying to add a new voice will result in the npc having two voices!

How can anyone possibly pin down one favourite mod. The choice and quality is simply outstanding.

I know I cannot! There are WAY too many to choose from. I'd post my entire load order, but that sort of defeats the purpose of choosing a single mod. :D

Every mod I put into my game is my favorite. I've sort of progressed past the stage where I try out every kind of mod out there, and now I'm just sticking to the things that have really made Oblivion worth playing over and over again.

If I had to pick just one I guess I would pick Oscuro's mod also. But I can't, so here's a larger list:

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=3953 by Oscuro, dev_akm, MadCat221. Not just a 'creature-adding' mod, not just a 'difficulty' mod, not just a 'gameplay-tweaking' mod, Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul is actually one of the finest finest roleplaying mods around. http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=1757 by Martigen, Corepc Dev_Akm Shadowborn is the perfect complement to Oscuro, adding much-needed spontaneity to Oscuro's static world. Crank Martigen's mod all the way up and Oblivion will feel as wonderfully unpredictable as an MMO. These mods are so inseparable to me I count them as one.

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=2764 by, of course, DarN.
This essential mod goes a long way toward making Oblivion's consolized interface useable. Configurable from within the game via a menu.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14065 by tej?n, or http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13879 bu ABO.
Two excellent character-levelling mods that do away with stat management, excel spreadsheets, visits to Wiki pages, etc, to research "builds". With these mods a player can just play and let a mod handle leveling seamlessly and invisibly in the background. I tend to prefer RL but I am using nGCD in my current game and am very impressed.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14304 by tej?n.
This mod allows the player to control the speed of advancement of each skill. Easily configurable via an .ini.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11237 by tej?n. (I tell you, I believe my games would be practically unplayable without tej?n.)
Willpower again has an affect on the player's vulnerabilty to magic, as in previous ES games.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7484 by Deathless Aphrodite.
Makes the player lose fatigue when running. When the player's fatigue hits 0 he starts to walk. Also allows the player to sprint for a brief time.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25078 by TheNiceOne.
Using this mod merchants' gold goes up and down with each trade. Also does away with the haggle slider (what a relief!) Allows the player to specify how much gold they recive from looting containers, enemies, as quest rewards, etc. All configurable via .ini.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4387 by CorePC. Adds much-needed life to Cyrodiil's roads. The merchants are great if you like to spend extended time away from cities as I do.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16513 by Bananasplit, Wolfslady, Reckless, SilentResident, Nernie, Vorians and last but not least, Ismelda.
The way the cities of Tamriel should have looked. Spend hours wandering around like a tourist, awestruck at how different (and gorgeous) everything looks. Comes in modular form - you can choose to redo all of Cyrodiil's cities or just one. It's your choice.

But as a Morrowind player you might be more interested in Arthmoor's http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1019807, which tranfers the vanilla cities into the Cyrodiil worldspace. Wonderful for those of us who love to ride horses into town.

http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=942911, also by Arthmoor, adds Morrwind-style transport to the game. A nicely immersive touch.

http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=984109 by XMarksTheSpot, Brumbek & Ismelda is another mod I can't play without anymore. It adds windows that turn off and on in synch with day/night cycles and also, optionally, smoke from chimneys. Comes with a nice variety of window color tints too.

Emma has recently released one of her wonderful companion mods for Oblivion, http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28977, an Alchemist-oriented companion with a mind of her own (and, as a bonus, dialog voiced by Emma herself).

http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1073491 by onra. If you like to explore, this is the mod series for you. Replaces the 'placeholder' landscape of Valenwood and Elseweyre (and, soon, Summerset Isles) with fully-realized land, ready to be modded. Goes great with:

http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1072969 by Side777, which adds seven ships of varying sizes you can pilot around all this new coastline.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25023 by Iliana.
An ambitious project whose aim is to recreate the province of Elseweyr, home to Khajiits and, of course, Moon Sugar. Compatible with Tamriel Heightmaps.
