Glass halberd. Light, fast, can be enchanted with a rather deep charge, won't run out in a prolonged battle. I tend to enchant it to do electric damage.
There are walloping type weapons that do a lot more damage, but I found them slower and not really worth it. If I have a reasonably developed character, I can hit first, hit often. It takes a fast weapon with good damage. Glass longswords are almost as good though less reach. With some characters I would have three of those, different enchantments.
I also use other spears a lot. Daedric ones are good when left unenchanted, for use against creatures that reflect magic.
And Hircine's spear also.
Ranged weapons....Not all my characters are good marksmen, But I like the Bow of Shadows. Earlier in the game I like to get hold of a Bonemold bow. I don't mind paying for one, they are good useful bows. The Daedric longbow is powerful, but by that stage I don't really need the extra hitting power that much. And regarding ammunition, I often just used chitin arrows. Not all the time but often.
Earlier in the game, maybe one of the enchanted weapons that are for sale cheap. Or thievable.
Oh, and to go off on a tangent, I found the Ebony mace comes up nicely in screenshots. A weapon like Skullcrusher is powerful, but takes up too much visual space. Once in a while, the Glass claymore makes a good screenie.
