So... Whats Your Name?

Post » Fri Oct 22, 2010 2:49 pm

I'm not completely sure of a name for my Nord yet, but I think I might go with Baard or B?rd, which means something like "war and peace" in Old Norse.

Viking-y warrior- Dovafus (Dragon Force)

War Wizard of Ice- Krahvahriin (Cold Sworn)

Ranger-y warrior- Flazer (It Sounds Cool)

Necromancer- Vokulro (Evil Balance)

Theif- Vokun Staadnau (Shadow Unbound)

Well, that's pretty much all the cool names I could get from the dragon language (which I'll be using most of skyrim) so far.

I will wait with playing the game atleast till there is a goty edition I have thougths about names .... even for Morrowind and Oblivion ...

I always try to make it 'fittin' in ...

My Nord might be named Waldimir Dagontin or Bjorn Hjalson inspired by two tabletop characters who have this names ... (Bjorn Hjalson used to be a 'nord' in that setting).

My Breton might be named, Lord Edmund BlackAdder, loosely inspired on Blackadder, otherwise I came across Rutger van Herpen, a name of Dutch Orgin used to be some landlord here in the twelfth or thirteenth century ...

My Elf characters havn't worked that out ...

My Khajitt , I used to have a Khajitt female agent named S'zzra ...

My Argonian I used to play a lots with Zorgon the Argonian before my oblivion game crashed ...

Imperial name ... Mostly Roman like, ... insipred on the 'good roman' emperors, like Marcus Aurelius ...

Kai is usually my default name. I like to explore the world, gameplay, and quests for a while before I actually sit down and think about my character. Then I will go back and create a new one that I am serious about roleplaying, and by then, I will likely have come up with an idea for a name.

My main character in every game since Morrowind has been named Synok, last name is Seryanton but I hardly use that since I find it weird when it's placed in dialog for everyone to constantly use my characters full name. She is always the same basic archetype, in TES she is a redheaded Breton battlemage, where in games like Mass Effect she is a Vanguard (which is basically ME's version of a battlemage) who in nice to everyone except criminal who hurt other people.

Other names use often are: Vladek, Guts (from Berserk), Jade, Eve, Devi, Kora (I play mostly chicks, they are more interesting characters) Video Games are about escapism so I never roleplay as myself, that's just boring IMO.

In each province my initial character that I play to experiment the game's mechanics and such I play as the native race. In Skyrim, I will start off being a Nord named Beowulf.

Imperial named Heros.

I think the Latin to English translation on that one is obvious.

Its always the same regardless of my race or class. I've used that alias in video games since I was about 10yrs old. Don't plan to change anytime soon.

Tommy Bozzer IV
Half Breton half Nord but I'll be playing as a Breton.
Descendent of the Champion of Cyrodiil.
I always used that name in video games and in other 'circumstances' since I came up with it in a Eureka moment.
The other 'circumstances' I mentioned is that Tommy Bozzer is an alias I use in real life sometimes.

I have the same three characters I use in almost every RPG. Sometimes their names are anachronistic but it only bothers me a little.

However, this thread inspired me to look for good source material, and I found http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Names on uesp.net. Nice collection of names from the games, will give me a great starting point to do authentic-sounding ports of the original names.

For my Nord: Orjindor
For my Orc: Ongul-gro-Ukhal (something like that, Orc names are quite easy to play around with)
