When and how to mod for Fallout 4 (Xbox One)

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 8:44 pm

Hello people of the Fallout universe,

I would like to know what goes into making a mod for the consoles, mainly Xbox One since thats what I play. As far as I understand we are unable to make them yet, but I have some ideas that I would like to try once it becomes available.

Thanks.

Mods on consoles will happen much later next year. Mods will be downloaded from some sort of service (no direct transfering from computer to console), details are unknown at this point. What we do know is that there will be a lot of stuff that won't be allowed on consoles and I'm not talking just those with questionable content.

Creating mods will be PC only, as before.

I'm playing on Xbox one now but after beating vanilla multiple times I will switch to PC for modded game action. Anyone who thinks mods will be abundant and work on the Xbox one anywhere close to PC is delusional... I wish I was wrong :( I have a POS computer

I don't need abundance, I just want to make a Zoo haha.

Use the Syringer Rifle and make a heavy traq. dart that immobilizes an enemy. After pacifying them, make an option to pick them up as an item or transport them to a box that you uniquely coded box and built earlier. I want a showcase of every animal and enemy in the game in my super fort that I plan on building. Think of it as introduction to the wasteland for people who have been living in the vaults haha.

I did something similar in Minecraft.

That or make a "clean slate" area where you can build a farm, lake, water, etc. I love the locations in the game but there isn't really a blank area that I can make completely my own. Not that I've found anyways. Everything I find is too hilly for my taste since the buildings rely on flat surfaces, as far as I can tell.

Mods will be available in 2016 for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (PS4) versions of Fallout 4. Maybe in April 2016 or May 2016?

You need a PC and the PC version of Fallout 4 to make mods.

It wont be as limited as your thinking. The only limitations they stated would be copyrighted material and no x-rated mods. Also though I would imagine we wont get graphic improvement mods due to the hardware.

The wonderful thing about playing on the XBox ONE is that you can play the game the developers created and enjoy the game that the developers created before you start sticking your fat fingers in and making self proclaimed 'improvements'! :P

Personally I see MODs as a great way to extend the life of a game that you love after you've played it absolutely to death.

For some however they will refuse to touch the original game until their self proclaimed faults have been 'fixed' by MODs which I personally think is ignorant and insulting to the developers (but then to some of these people the fact that the game wasn't released in native 4K resolution at 120fps was ignorant and insulting in the first place).

It will be interesting to see what we get.

Well I guess my plan is out the window haha. Thank you. All I ever wanted was a Jurassic Park level of animal enclosure haha.

My guess would be even later than that.

Bethesda has only said 'sometime early 2016 ' for release of the toolset we will use on PC's to make mods needing toolset . (already are a good number of

mods on Nexus, and not just texture mods, but simple ones that help). The definition of 'early' could mean sometime between Jan1 to May30 or even later... stuff happens.

It will take time for one: Mod makers to learn how to make them with compatabilty with consoles in mind.

two, and more important, it is my understanding any mods will have to be approved for consoles via some murky unknown system

done by Bethesda, Sony, and MS for their respective systems.

Whatever mods show up for consoles, I'm sure the length and depth of the selection will be far less than what we can get for PC version

of the game.

But really, we do not know what will and what won't be capable on consoles. When asked if something like Project Brazil would come, Todd said that's the plan. But, he has said stuff in the past on previous games that never came to fruition. I'm not holding my breath but I'm not condemning mods on consoles before anyone know ANYTHING about how it's going to work. That's just ignorance

Ok thanks for the answers I don't want to make mods I just wanted to know if I needed a computer to download them to the xbox. I had known that it'll be months after the PC gets the modding tools before they come to consoles so it's ok I can wait. Vanlla keeps me entertained for awhile anyways.
