when are we supposed to be getting a patch?

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 3:42 am

since the ps3 version is cursed with that "bloated save file" problem, rendering the files basically useless between 5-8mb... i havent touched skyrim since my first file reached 8mb and it started freezing.

i mean, whats the point of playing for a short while, then being forced to start a new character without getting anywhere on the previous one?

is there any word on the patch... have they even started working on one? are they waiting for certain people to approve the patches, or what?

im getting anxious... i've already spoiled several things for myself cause i keep going to the UESP wiki and looking around cause i want to play skyrim again, but cant, since it'd be pointless to as long as its in need of patching.

i really hope bethesda fixes that "bloated save file" problem... cause im about to put someone's head through a freaking window.

I havnt expierianced this yet, as Im on 360. How ever, there is a lot of house bugs I want fixed, and companions are rediculously weak because they dont level with the player. I also want to be able to install the game to my hard drive, as it is,it sounds like Im playing the game at an air port. The 360 is loud.

Im sorry you have a game breaker though. I hope its resolved, the patch is suposed to happen this comeing week.

I wish they would release some pre-release information on what they're working on :P I know it will not speed up the time it takes for them to do it, but I'm curious. Can't wait to know what I'm waiting for :P

1. Fix save file size issues.
2. Hard drive problem.
3. Make companions level with you.
4. House decorating possible
5. Broken/glitched quests. e.g. Blood on the Ice

Why is it that some people have really bad problems and others don't? I'm on PS3 as well and my save file has reached 12 MB, aside from the occasional lagging, my game is fine.

Week after Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving was Thursday; 11/24. So next week, 11/28 is the start of the week. I have no idea when either Microsoft or Sony do their updates.

Only official word I've seen is "After Thanksgiving". I'd say that leaves it pretty open to being pretty much when ever. My bet is we'll see it this week though.

But that's a personal twitter account, so I wouldn't take it as official.

its very quiet on the ps3... i dont think i've noticed it making any noise at all on my ps3, actually... and it can take almost half the day before it makes my ps3 warm up even a bit... that was really surprising to me.

just svcks that the ps3 version runs into this "bloated save file" crap.

i havent heard of the 360 or PC version running into such a problem so far... its apparently only come from ps3 users as far as i can tell.

I will start complaining a week today, as it will be the end of the week after Thanksgiving. The lack of patience on the patch is pretty astounding.

I'm afraid the patch is so hyped and built up that its sure to be a mass disappointment for many. Hope Bethesda really patches alot. If they dont people will REALLY complain

This is my first Bethesda game.. As is I love it, but the bugs and unbalanced game play throws me off it, even more so with the errorless CTD. Before the 1.2 patch I could play a while but now its every 5 minutes. The patch NEEDS to be something or I will think twice before buying another Bethesda game.

Agreed. I'm not expecting much, just some bug fixes. I'll be surprised if they fix house decorating, etc.

Does anyone know if "after thanksgiving" is when the patch is being sent to MS/Sony, or when MS/Sony will release it? Cause consoles usually have a couple weeks lag time to push things through.

The patch will fix some (but not all) important glitches and bugs I'm sure, what ones is anyone's guess. Despite everyone stating what it will and won't fix on these and other boards the perceptive ones among us will have noticed there is a distinct lack of a creditable source as to what it will 100% fix.

Basically whatever the first patch does there will be disappointment all round. Just look at the amount of negativity that has been spouted here already about this game (in my opinion one of the finest I've ever played), If you thought there were some lunatics already then wait and see what happens when the first patch doesn't completely change the UI or completely alter the leveling and perks system.

Why is it that some people have really bad problems and others don't? I'm on PS3 as well and my save file has reached 12 MB, aside from the occasional lagging, my game is fine.

Regarding this I would say a lot has to do with level of tolerance people have. For some a drop to 29 fps instead of a solid 30 will be enough for them cry shenanigans and start a campaign to never buy any Bethesda product again. Others will happily play on. I'm on ps3 and my save file is 13mb. In all honesty it probably became unplayable at the 10 -11mb mark for me but I carried on with shorter one or two dungeon sessions cos I'm weak and I need my skyrim hit. I'd guess your 12mb occasional lag file would have been given up on by many a player.

The ironic thing is that I went for the console option on launch as I thought it would be more stable. For the first 5-7 days after launch the ps3 version was probably the one with the least amount of complaints. I will eventually get it on PC when it everything gets ironed out and there are some good stable mods out there but i'm thinking that will be a while off yet.

I just hope and pray that they fixed the game-breaking bugs with the Main Quest line, such as entries simply not appearing or being uncompletable, meaning those on consoles are stuck being unable to complete the MQ (I had this happen with A Cornered Rat. Delphine said her part, and the thing still didn't appear in my journal)

Microsoft took the week off, and Bethesda won't release the PC or Sony patches on a separate date for some reason. So, until Microsoft decides to come back to work, everyone suffers.

Just wait, it will happen. It happens sooner on some PS3 systems than others, but it happens on all of them. I didn't start lagging that much until 16 MB + and now it's getting awful. I have to restart my PS3 in cities.

Even if the patch fixed all of our problems ( which it wont) and also gave all the users a date with Scarlette Johanson(sp?) MOST of you guys would still complain.

Honestly I feel sorry for the bethesda crew, I dont think half of you know what it takes to create a game like The Elder Scrolls. They are not gods, this game is so big that there are going to be speedbumps along the way that just take time to be resolved. Give em a break. Without them we would probably have a life. God that would svck.

And then when that patch comes out people will whine for the next one. Never-ending cycles of whining and patching ensue. :brokencomputer:

In all seriousity, you better hope they take some time to make a good patch rather than slap a band-aid patch on your game after two weeks.
