When Gob Says Drunky...

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:32 pm

In Megaton, if you buy things from the ghoul bartender Gob he will end the conversation by referring to you as Drunky.

Is this a reference to Von Drunky (me) from the NMA-Fallout message bored.

So how come he never address anyone else in the bar as "Drunky"?

I...I...I thought "Drunky" was Gob's pet name for me. He's not flirting with me? You mean they put that in there because of you? :sadvaultboy:

He calls me Drunky all the time. Even though I only sell him booze and never buy it from him.

I guess it's just force of habit, from the other customers.

Like saying "Don't hit me!" even though I'm friends with him.

Drunky here too... I figured that's what he called all of his patrons, it didn't have any deeper meaning.

Poor Gob, he really belongs in Underworld!

This wasn't a statement but a question in need of aconfirmation, a bit late I know. Anyway, here is a bit of a back story in 2007 when FO3 was being developed I was one of the few members of NMA who actually advocated Bethesda making the sequel. The NMA-Fallout community is well know for being extremely critical of FO3 to the point where a member was asked to leave from a Q&A because he made it known that he was a member regardless of his press pass (I think it was SuAside) that indecent was a strong indication that Bethesda had at lest a few plants on our website, hell someone even accused me of being one. Since up until recently I was also one of the biggest trolls and mascots for the site It would not be that unlikely if someone made a reference as a homage to me.

As for Gob, Why would he call anyone "Drunky" if he gets [censored] just for looking customers in the eye? Outside of what I have cultivated for myself with "Drunky" most might regard it as an insult coming from a ghoul.

Just saying.

Its a well known fact that Bethesda has plants in many peoples homes, once I woke out of a deep sleep to find a plant in my living room, going through all my F-O-3 save games!! :whisper:

Thats the reason why you will find no references to --kingsheart-- in the next new vegas game, its to throw off the more gullible members of the forum as to the importance and prestige I have gained with Beth

this whole topic kind of reminds me of poor Glarthir from oblivion

This wouldn't be the first time they put in a little references in a Fallout game. Like the Unwashed Villagers in FO2 http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Unwashed_Villagers . Oh and kingsheart they are watching...

Plus, Drunky is a general term, short for Drunkard, I guess.
I wouldn't get too paranoid if I were you, Its just a coincidence.
So chill buddy. :)

I'm sorry bud but this just seems a wee bit of a stretch of your own importance haha. Apologies ofcourse if I turn out to be wrong but "drunky" is such a common phrase and it is being said by a bartender to a customer buying or selling booze.. Sorry but I think hes just joking with a friendly wastelander.

I highly doubt that this dialogue about you. I mean, your in a bar, and drunky is short for drunkard.

While Beth has put easter eggs into their games dealing with the forums (M'aiq comes to mind), I don't think any of them have ever referenced a specific member.

Reasons why Drunky might be a reference which I have already pointed out:

1) I was one of the few members to advocate FO3 after Beth bought the franchise from Interplay on NMA-Fallout message boards which is one of the bigger Fallout fan websites.

2) Beth was more then likely had plants on the NMA website.

3) Gob is already scared of bar patrons hitting him calling them Drunky would provoke them.

4) My picture use to come up on the first page of google images for Drunky when I was still an active member in deviantART.

5) I have a fan club URL: http://groups.myspace.com/DrunkysFanClub

Please note: 4&5 is not relevant.

The reason I said I was being watched was because a few posts were removed by a mod without an explanation.

Don't you think that you are being a tad egotistical? I mean, it's a bar.

The fact that 'drunky' is also a less insulting term than "you *&^%ing alco" or "pissed idiot" and it's an MA15 game might have something to do with it, as well.

I'm sorry but I have never seen someone with such an ego.. In my honest opinion is that if beth liked you enough to put in and easter egg about you.. you wouldn't have to ask. I've just never seen someone ask this..I mean maybe I'd give you the benefit of the doubt if it wasn't such an obvious thing to say in a bar setting (your gob afraid of being hit argument doesn't fly with me personally just because of the fact that I'm sure I'm not the only one that befriended him, maybe he feels comfortable? Mixing up the dialogue? If he was always terrified as you say he would be a lot more timid and possibly flinch a lot instead of chit chat.)
