I use Galsaiah's Character Development, and one its side effects is to remove any reason for routine rest. Your character levels up and gains attribute increases automatically, magicka restores over time without resting, and if you have a healing spell you can restore health without resting. So my character doesn't rest unless forced to by the plot.
In the Rise of House Telvanni mod, there comes a point where your advisor stops giving you tasks and tells you to take a nap. When I got to that point, I chose not to rest right away. Instead I went about other quests. One of these was the main questline from White Wolf of Lokken Mountain. When I reached a point there where I was told to take a nap, I decided to go ahead and do it.
When I woke up, the one-room cottage I was sleeping in was more than a little crowded. There were two castle guards (henchmen of the evil chieftain in White Wolf) attacking me. There were three Dark Brotherhood assassins (generated by RoHT) also attacking me. There were two companions from yet another mod (Uvirith's Legacy) who always follow me around, fighting on my side. And there were two NPCs from White Wolf. They also fought for me, but needed to be kept alive to maintain that questline.
Fortunately, all this activity didn't torpedo my frame rate, possibly because I don't use any graphics mods. But I had to be real careful where I swung my sword.
