when taking pelts, visual effects on the animal?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 7:55 pm

1. well after getting back into oblivion again, i realised when i killed a wolf, minotaur,etc... When i took body parts from them, they remained unchanged. This was a little bit weird. So what i'm suggesting is a little like Red Dead Redemption but without the sequence, where after a body part is taken the animal is skinned or has the body part you took, taken away from the animal visibly.

discuss...

Would be nice, but only if the body is then dragged off by other animals and eaten. I wouldn't want the surrounding forest outside of my home village to be littered with bloody, skinned animal corpses that never vanish.

Sounds brutal, bro. I want to rip each and every scale off a dragon, take its teeth and poke out it's little eyes :D

I think that the way it worked in RDR was fine. I don't see why people would have a problem with it in Skyrim.

Just as long as there is no cut scene, or you can skip it, man that was annoying after a while in RDR, lol

I would prefer no cut scene. Would be awesome if all was done in real-time, so you can actually see (both 1st and 3rd person) you skinning the animal. Maybe that's a bit too much to ask for though...
Still, definitely see visual effects, yes.
Together, small things like this add a lot to the game.

It would be very cool to watch some scavengers creep up after you've taken what you want from a carcass.

That would add a whole new mechanic of using corpses as bait during hunting. Which would totally be super-awesome.

Mh, perhaps we'll be able to carry killed animals depending on their size. Like a deer. Drop it a short distance from the mouth of a cave you have yet to venture into, move back and lay in wait to see what comes out of the cave to drag the body away for munchies. Would make a very cool way to determine what sort of enemies you might run into should you go into the cave. :D

if you want to see whats in the cave just use sneak and check it out, if youre bad at sneaking . . . well then make you have the sprint perk :)

A note: Fallout New Vegas had this happen sometimes. When you harvested a mantis' claws it would look like you had torn them off of them pretty brutally. There was a quest where you have to take the heads of some enemies that used a similar effect.

It should be mentioned that limb-popping was already a part of the system, and was probably fairly trivial to script in those cases. Something like skinning would be another matter.

Pfft. Victory lies in preparation! Sneaking in or dashing in and sprinting for your life back out is hardly preparing yourself in a tactical manner. :b

Red Dead Redemption did it, I don't see why not.

And I know some of the team played it.

Well, in an interview they mentioned Red dead redemption and how they used some of the better ideas from that game. Wether or not that means they made it so you can see a skinned animal after taking the pelt, i dont know. But it is entirely possible. Plus in fallout new vegas if you did that mission where you gotta go get those 3 raider's heads, when you opened their body and grabbed their head, then left the inventory screen back into the game, the raiders head sort of exploded to visualize you ripping their head off. Im sure they have played new vegas to see obsidians take on their game, using their software and technology and they probably took the good ideas from that to add to their own. They seem to do that alot (their mentioning of magic being more like bioshock in look and in the way it functions like making magic traps and stuff)

Not in my game then I skin a wolf I get a skinless one, I can then collect the posible meat and sinew, just bones are left and you can take them if you need more.
Same is true for all animals except dogs, also some monsters.
My Bosmer character is pissed because she can not do it on NPC. She says the craftybit moders don't understand Bosmer culture.

2. When i was fighting in the arena i thought there would be more spectators seen as though it was the in the heart of cyrodiil and tht people should travel from the whole of it and from other provinces to spectate.

Because I love myself here's my post from there as well.
I don't think it's a major issue as some others are.
However I for one and I presume others as well tend to ignore self bumps and those topics entirely, as long as nothing new is to be added.
I've yet to see a mod lock one for it, as they go away fast on their own.
This said most that bump for bump sakes tend to get on my nerves, no offense meant this is aimed at another poster from a while back.

On topic: Visual effects would be nice, I think most older users would at least like the "dispose of corpse" option that Morrowind had.
This should free up some memory as well.

As for true effects of ingredient haversting from corpse, there are mods that I use that altered containers like the Oblivion flesh sacks.
That also show harvesting of flora by replacing a flowered plant with another mesh of one without the harvested ingredient..
If a mod in the big O could do this, I'd say a vanilla Skyrim should be able to enhance it to creatures as well.
I'd love a pair of Argonian boots, if this is in.

No. In fact I wouldn't take pelts if they did this, ever.
