When TESV comes out

Ada = Spirit
Bal = Stone

Adabala = Spirit-Stone = Amulet of Kings.

Little known fact but it has the souls of all past Emperors in it.
You could make really sweet enchanted boots out of that.

I'd avoid the lore forums, but not because of spoilers. I'd avoid it because everyone will inevitably complain about how the game "contradicts existing lore", and other various bull.

I'll be avoiding the whole set of forums, honestly. I remember Oblivion, not one of them was particularly hospitable in the first few weeks. So I'll let the hype backlash die down and play the game myself before coming here.

At the time, it wasn't that far off the mark. I remember basically playing to go dungeon hunting or civilian killing spree. It got to the point that one of the first game sequences I memorized was the opening dungeon. It was about 5 years later that I discovered it actually had a plot and then a year after that to discover it had a giant mecha in it. And I've been here ever since.

I didn't even realize it was part of a series until one of my friends brought it up after I had played Morrowind a ton.

Ah, see I was introduced to Morrowind as the sequel to Daggerfall.

I was introduced to both, sadly, as the prequels of Oblivion :'(

I played Morrowind first, then Oblivion, then tried to download Arena and Daggerfall...managed to get Arena to work on XP, but since I upgraded to Windows 7 I've failed miserably at playing Arena and Daggerfall. I'm not much of a tech person.

Have you tried using DOSbox? I found it works wonderfully for DOS games.

Not in particular. Of course, when the game does come out I will spend much more time on the game itself rather than the forums. I mainly just browse the lore section, but I doubt the lore will be bustling for a while after the games release. Fallout: NV for example is still pretty slow in the area of thorough, and thought out posts. Most of it is just forum newbies ranting about a small bug, asking help with an obvious quest, or wondering how some guy on PC got a mod and wondering how to get that mod on their console. I expect TES V section will be about the same for a while, though the general community here is a bit more serious, with respect to all elder Fallout people :).

I don't think it existed pre-Oblivion.

I'm pretty sure it was cut from vanilla, and that it was supposed to tie-in with the Crisis plot. Ideals will transform or die, in severe crisis.

Yeah sorry. I forgot the precise spelling. It's a great book, and it does tie in with the "Trials of Saint Alessia" too, which I believe was part of the vanilla game. The whole deal with the Amulet of Kings and the Covenant is all new lore. I don't think it existed pre-Oblivion. And it's very good lore, I think. It fleshes out the history of the world and gives it some extra substance.

Also, hill-[censored].

Oblivion also introduced the Ayleid empire (and really most of the information on the Ayleids, with only one book from Daggerfall being the only pre-Oblivion source mentioning the Ayleids) , slavery of the Imperials, the Tamrielic invasion of Akavir (see "Report: Disaster at Ionith", which is easily one of my favorite books of the series), the Argonian account as well the Beggar/Thief/Prince/King book series, that bit with the Underking, Blade architecture, the method of opening an Oblivion gate (see "Liminal Bridges") , crossbreeding possibilities with Imperial vampires and Orcs, vampires of the provinces of Cyrodiil, Valenwood, and Skyim, and plenty more, all without even including Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles. I once made a list out of all the books introduced to the series through Oblivion and its DLC/KotN/SI:

I'll try to avoid the forums and the wiki for a while, to avoid getting spoilers about the plot like with Morrowind and Oblivion. I'll succeed if I manage to get the game within 2 days of release, but any longer and I'll be drawn back.

I tried to avoid the forums when Oblivion came out. However, I didn't buy Oblivion until at least six months after it came out, and I couldn't resist all the juicy threads for that long.

Besides, I'm more likely to spoil my experience by playing prematurely with the TESCS than by reading the Forums. That's the one thing I hate about using the TESCS, a certain wonder is removed from the gameworld when you're already aware of what its capable of (or incapable of, in the case of Morrowind).
