when the game surprised you.

Thought id make a thread on asking people what had surprised them in the game?

Ill go ahead and start off with something small but to me was pretty awesome. Im playing a charector that is extremely low in speech and barter like I think just skill 10 for each. Well im doing some quests in freeside and trying to gather up escorts. Got them all except for the ghoul. Talking to her and failing both speech and barter skill check, she resists being an escort. Sadly I thought id have to write her off as c&c and that the quest pretty much stopped there for me. Thats cool, I respect I cant do everything and had given up on her. Well days later, im getting the doc to treat me for crippled limbs and decide to talk to her again. I had juat got back from the bar of gambling and bing drinking, had bought alot of different alcohol to see if my charector would puke, when lo and behold I see an option of her asking to see a bottle of absinthe, im like sure here u go and tell her I got it from the twins and they had more. After she took a trip down memorys lane from the look in her eyes, she agreed to be an escort and I happyly cashed in on her ass.
It really surprised me that after so many playthrus, that theres these Littles things that I have not seen yet and help me comeplte things without breaking my roleplaying. Like I said something small, but was awesome none the less.

So how bout yal?

So i started with fallout 3 so i thought the enclave were just a radio station, so when i was doing the waters of life quest ,i think thats its name, and i saw the vertibird land i thought it was the brotherhood, so when i got back to the basemant and VATSed on the soldier i was like "holy [censored], why does a radio station have an army" so when i got to the project purity room, and dad sacrificed himself, that surprised me and made me hate the enclave, RIP James.

finaaly playing through the legion and i was thinking that since pretty much in the other three faction the ending is pretty much the same. like what you have to do not the actuall ending. but from arizona kill on up was the most fun i had in the game since it came out. arizona killer is probably my favorite quest in the whole game it was actuall some what a challenge for me. i got up on one of the towers and after i killed the president i sat on top of the tower for about 20 or mins just sniping people off untill i ran out of amo for my hunting rifle. but by then there was only like 4 or 5 peopl left and i ran up on them and pretty much killed all of them in one shout with my ranger sequoia except for one of the rangers i had missed up on the tower.

and then once again the ending for the legion was the best ending out of the 4. the first time i did the ending i was ncr and i was like this is fun but then i did house and yes man endings and they were pretty much the same thing. so i was thinking the legion was gonn be the same thing to. but no it was the funnest ending of them all. i love the part where you have to run after oliver. and you get to that part where it looks like an office building that has all the tripp wire and other traps i actually died like 10 times on that. well i was alos a really low level to. and then when i finally got passed that i died a few more times trying to kill the guards that run out of the room oliver is hiding in.

so over all what suprised me was that i actually had a challenge boss type ending. olver went down like that but those damn guards were a pain in the ass.

now for fallout 3 the first thing that really suprised me was when i found the fatman so early on in the game. and it wasn't even the fact that i had one of the most powerfull wepons in the game but the fact that i never actually wanted to use it. i probably used it more just [censored] around than i actuall used it to kill some thing. i loved how even tho i had this powerfull wepon i never wanted to use it cause i didn't have that much amo for it so i always had it in the back of my head that i would only use it if i absolutely had no other option. and some times even if that time came i still wouldn't use it.

i love how they had that available for me to use early on n the game but knowing that finding amo for it was some what rare i decided to never use it except for a few times when i was about to die and i was fighting a beheamith or some thing.
