When is the next GI update?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 9:34 am

All through the next few months, we'll be getting TONS of new info. But it's their choice when to release it.

Monday confirmed.

I am CandyStatchers! :disguise:

I'm happy that he replied. What is the general idea of what everyone thinks will be the next update? I doubt it will be combat but I am hoping for it. If not combat then the UI and then the art.

For those who didn't see the paragraph under the wall papers. They explain exactly what is to come next week.

"We also wanted to let you know that there's more to come. We have some exciting new gameplay details and glimpses into the Bethesda studio coming next week. Check back in the coming days and you'll find a dedicated article on the combat of Skyrim, including Bethesda's exciting dual-hand approach to battles. We'll have a video about the talented art team and the work they do at the studio. In addition, watch for a focused piece on Skyrim's completely overhauled user interface and menu system, and how it differs from what you remember in Oblivion. " - GI

Combat article- Most likely, seeing as how combat has been changed majorly and the article might take a while to be put up

Menu system- Might take a while to type something over that, depending on how overhauled it actually is.

Art designers- Least likely, posting a video doesn't take long.

What do you mean most likely? Most likely to be the next update? Wouldn't they save to most exciting thing for last?

Oooh, I get it. Because he said late in the day right? Gotcha.

Podcast is almost always last. Plus he said it would be a late one, he didn't say that for any of the others, so it might be the latest we have had so far. Might take a while to type up.

First, thank you for asking him - took the liberty to post this, hope you don't mind. :)

And yeah, I agree. Art / UI / Combat makes more sense. Keep us slavering for the yummy bits until the last second.

Your welcome. :)

But Dovahkiin might be onto something there, late in the day... What other reasons might there be? I am guessing that this one will be the User Interface update. I must say I will find this rather exciting!

Normally, I'd say yes, but given the late postings last week, regardless of content... They might just have a tight schedule is all.

No worries. All three updates are good to me, I'll take them in any order. I mean, artists : we're going to see some good concept art at some point, and even if not, if it's anything like "sounds of Skyrim", it's going to be extremely interesting in itself.

I agree, either combat or the UI. Hopefully if we get the UI monday it will tell us if there will be a different UI for the PC. I don't play on PC, but it seems a lot of people want it.

 You know, maybe the announcing paragraph has written out the order of the updates, plain and simple : in that case, combat, art and UI.

Different UI, yes. It makes so much sense they should be adapted to the means of input.

No, there most definitely will not be a different UI for the PC. According to the mag it will be a natural UI (the map is shown in real time as a bird's eye view from the real world), very innovative. They would not just make a separate one for the PC. By the way Dovahkiin, what is your twitter username?

and your probably right, but if the UI looks amazing everyone will(should) be happy anyway.

Why can't they keep the same overall UI(menu progression, text style, art) but scale it so the PC version can fit more entries/text on the screen?

[censored] Gameinformer jesus [censored]. Just drop the rest out already I hate how long and drawn out this is getting....damn it. Just invite the GI team back up there show them stuff them stuff that is 100% going to be in the game. let them record it and show it to us on Friday. I want some tangible game play before I get an anticipation tumor. I love all the hard work their them put into the games and the games are phenomenal themselves. I hate video game hype machines with a passion we need to stop this promotional onslaught unless they have some real game play to show. Al the stuff on the hub is epic and I would love to see more of it all....on the DVD on the special edition of the game. I digress though just show us 10 min of what they have solid even if it has place holder voices and It will be worth all this GI nonsense. Half the people I told about creation engine think its Gamebryo plus. Prove these [censored]s wrong please!!

 This is how all games work. If you don't like it then its too bad. If game hype did not work this way then they would not do it this way. But it does work. Your way does not work. They are being smart and you are telling them to be dumb for your own gain.

I'm one of those [censored]s.

IMHO, they started off with GameBryo, but pulled out each segment of it, one by one and, upgraded, overhauled, or replaced it with a better counterpart, and added some new content, and renamed it to creation engine, so it is now "Creation Engine".

That's how it works.
