When will we get to see the Core Region again?

Post » Wed Jan 22, 2014 1:17 pm

I mean, it's the center of the Fallout universe, and a lot of time has passed since Fallout 2.

I long to visit Shady sands(now NCR), Vault 13, Shi-town, Vault City, New Reno once again...

Maybe the new engine can handle a bigger map, and will allow for such a region to be explored again, in the next Obsidian Fallout maybe?

I remember awhile ago Obsidian said something about setting a game in LA. Don't know if they were dead serious though so...

I wouldn't mind if we saw the Bay Area. that would include San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose since we don't know what happened to SF in New Vegas.

I love an offshoot Fallout game that centers around the gangs/corporations within NCR territory, that would be awesome

I very much want to see San Francisco again. It's an interesting place that should be explored more.

And well, the Core Regions is the center of everything Fallout, we should really go back there.

Ive always thought that a Fallout strategy game would be pretty cool, set around Caesar's conquest of the 86 tribes culiminating with a sort of endboss NCR fight, where you spill over the Mojave into the core region before toppling the statue of the vault dweller and replacing it with a 50 foot high bull.

Hopefully never. There's so much left to see in the Fallout Universe and the Core Region is NCR and what an entertaining game that will make. Do you join the NCR or do you join the NCR and the always popular option, the NCR and if you don't like those options there's always the NCR.

I believe it was Chris Avellone listing some locations that were talked about by the New Vegas developers that they thought would be interesting, another location mentioned was New Orleans. I don't think it was serious, it was an impromptu Q&A.

If you think outside the box, there are some interesting possibilities. What if the NCR lost the dam in New Vegas? A political s***storm could be taking place and many politicians turning on each other, thus ushering a rebellion or a new rogue faction with their own agenda.Or...secession...annexed states that believe they had enough and since the NCR is defeated it's the chance to quit.

I would disagree with that because I doubt the NCR would fall apart if they lost Hoover Dam. Kimball would have his ass handed to him, but all in all the NCR would finally wake up to the threat that the Legion really is and rise up with it's full weight to crush it.

I know people don't like the NCR but losing a battle doesn't automatically mean the people of the NCR will turn on one another and tear it apart. It would be playing right into Caesar's heads, the NCR dividing itself so he can just walk in and conquer it.

A state breaks away, the NCR fights it. They both lose and the Legion wins.

Legion wins the Mojave, the states would be demanding the NCR protect them. They wouldn't want to go it alone. It would just be stupid to do that.

And as I said there's a whole world out there litterally and we have hardly even touched on America, let alone North America. Why keep going back to locations we have been before?

I mean House (or...Indy) where the NCR wins only to lose just after, and where Ceasar gets a nice surprise coming out of the Fort with missile launchers. Much more interesting than the Legion winning, poetic justice and that would make the setting i mentioned plausible.

Also, mind that the NCR doesn't exactly consider if the people they conquer want to get in or not, it's a steamroller, and i doubt no one is resentful and biding their time for a chance to cash out.

Even if House Wins it will not mean the NCR will tear itself apart. House even states out right that the NCR is where he will make is money from. He simply doesn't want the NCR to take control but he still needs and wants to do business with the NCR. He wants good relations with them, that's why he makes them sign that deal at the end of the game for his ending and not just kill them all with his robots. He knows they will be pissed at first but in time they will be back to visisting his Casinos and trading for tech and other goods.

The Steamroller anology is Marcus' opinion it isn't actual fact. The NCR does cover alot of territory, but remember alot of it is wasteland. They control cities and towns that tie together their land. The NCR doesn't just walk into those cities and towns with their military, plant the flag and say "this is ours and if you don't like you can die." They do it through political means and the areas they take over get full representation in government.

I doubt House cares about the political situation in the NCR, they are costumers, if it breaks up,it means he will have costumers from other "Nations" instead of it,no big deal other than securing trade routes or things his securitrons could take care of.

And even if you disagree with me,what sort of factions and situations do you think have developed in the CR by '81 ?

He does care because he wants stability for the NCR to be stable. People aren't going to be going to Vegas to gamble and have fun if they are busy fighting one another.

Courier: "Say you keep control of New Vegas. What happens next?"

House: "What is the NCR? A society of people desperate to experience comfort, ease, luxury... A society of customers. With all that money pouring in? Give me 20 years, and I'll reignite the high technology development sectors. 50 years, and I'll have people in orbit."

"Why would I want to go to war against the NCR? They're my best customers. If their leaders weren't scheming to steal Vegas out from under me, I'd have no troubles with the NCR at all."

So he not only likes the NCR, he is dependent on the NCR for his long term goals.

As for what factions would be in the NCR (Core Region) since Fallout 2... very few. Many such as the Khans, Vipers, Jackels and even the Followers have been driven out.

There is one interesting faction mentioned to be in the NCR and left alone, Ciphers but I don't think we need a game based around them.
