When will our Q&A be answered?

Post » Thu Jun 23, 2011 4:27 am

I do have to admit that with all of the interviews I have seen Todd attending it makes me wonder how much time he is really setting aside to answer them for us. I mean.. he just did an interview with Notch and while I enjoyed watching it it's not like it was something that needed to happen right now. Would prefer to have some of our very important questions be answered.

What exacty do GStaff and Nick Breckon do? They're very rarely on the forums, and Pete Hines seems to have taken over the whole "jetsetting around the world demoing for the press" gig. So again- what the hell do those guys do?

My understanding is that they work for Pete and do various things his dept. needs to get done.

Just keep your expactations low. I think the answers will be distributed like this:

~45% answers we already know
~30% answers will be dodged
~15% answers will have nothing to do with Skyrim

~10% answers will really get us new info

It seems the developers are just afraid of alienating their fan base with some of the answers.

If things such as "1 piece armour-greaves", "only 3 guilds" or "no spell-making" are confirmed, this forum will go completely crazy.

Anyway, forum morale seems quite low right now, so let's hope those answers come soon enough and help to dismiss all those "dumbing-down-the-game" threads and rumors.

I wouldn't worry about the guilds only being 3, it was confirmed months ago that the Dark brotherhood is in and is joinable, hopefully they'll be more guilds this time around as oppose to Oblivion.

can you elaborate on this?

I would be pretty surprised if DB is not joinable, but so far I haven't read any confirmation that they will be.

I have pretty low hopes for the QA anyway, most of the questions were either pretty specific that devs wouldn't want to commit to, would have spoilers in them, or were already answered. Besides that most answers from Bethesda are so generic that they aren't even worth reading.

Yeah, i'm not getting my hopes up too much either. Most of the questions I'd like answers to only really popped up after seeing the E3 demo.

Stuff like, will greaves be included? Will finishers be optional? Will we be able to adjust the HUD? etc.

I'm hoping by some coincidence someone asked these questions before E3 when the Q&A first went up...

They are on the forums many times throughout the day. This forum covers quite a number of games. They are also posting stuff on Facebook and twitter throughout the day, they keep the Bethesda Blog up to date, they assist with things like presentations at E3, they keep the moderators in line, answer emails to Bethesda and themselves (including pms) and I assure you somewhere on their job description it says "and all other duties as assigned". That is a lot for any two people to keep up with.

In their spare time they try to squeeze in a bit of gaming for pleasure, wives, girlfriends, pets and on rare occasions they get to sleep. ;)

Hey summer- has anyone ever told you that you are the nicest moderator on the Bethesda forums? Even when someone, such as myself, makes a rather petulent post about how the Community Managers seem fairly inactive, you don't moan or chastise or lock the thread- you instead calmly answer the question without sounding in any way condescending, and without coming across as sounding superior. Mad props! :)

Coincidental. You're still a jerk.

Seriously though, E3 was basically a megaton dropping on our schedules, devs and marketing alike. We'll get it up as soon as humanly possible.

This is something that I am actively trying to improve!

Oh yeah, I should add that I do really enjoy your podcasts, and I have listened to every single one of them all the way through. Admittedly I am usually just trying to find out some more information about Skyrim, but I have enjoyed the informal tone of the shows, combined with the interesting questions that you pose to the various devs that you have on. More please!! :goodjob:

Thanks Nick, can't wait to read the Q&A.

Do we know what format it'll be in? A text article?
