When Will system requirements be released?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:02 pm

Considering I may be getting a computer Upgrade, I want to know what the system requirements will be or when this info is released?

Here's what I have now

Ram: 4GB

Processor: Intel core i5

Video card: ATI Radeon HD 4650

Video Ram (According to DXdiag under Approx Total Memory): 2804MB (This doesn't seem right...)

Will This be good enough? I Really doubt it though.

As with most games, the requirements probably won't be out until around a month before release.

As for your specs, I imagine the same applies for all Bethesda games so far. That is, if you can run the previous game just fine (in this case, Fallout 3), then you can probably run Skyrim just fine. Won't necessarily be on the highest settings, but you'll be able to run it without having to upgrade.

I imagine with those specs, you'll probably be able to run it on the settings for the consoles, but at a higher resolution and maybe some more effects (small amount of AA maybe). But that's just my guess.

Alright thanks Rahu, I've actually been playing oblivion on ultra-high with Qarl's Texture pack running seamlessly

I've been told by a bunch of people that I won't be able to, Console settings are find for me though.

It's gonna be on 360 and PS3 as well, so I imagine it'd be well within the limits of most other, current multiplatform games.

Probably on the higher end of those requirements, but.

Exactly,
so what I mean is your system sounds really awesome and should play it very well.
(although I am not too familiar with that GPU, but it is easy enough to upgrade if needed).

I'm not going to state this in complete confidence, but I imagine if your computer can handle Oblivion or Fallout 3 at recommend settings then you SHOULD be good. Even though Skyrim uses a new engine, I'd assume that they're keeping to the same relative technology for the sake of Xbox 360 and PS3, so just keep that in mind.

I'm not worried though; my Asus is awesome. But if you sense a need to upgrade then you ought to anyhow.

Alright, The only game I've had to turn the graphics down is Just Cause 2 until I realized my friend said it lagged on the Xbox way worse than my computer (I thought the cutscene lag was because my computer wasn't good enough, until I went over to his place and we played it and noticed it was way worse.)

I actually had someone say that I couldn't even run the game on the Lowest Quality, which made me kinda P/O'd Hah.

Expect the same requirements that Fallout: New Vegas had. Bethesda doesn't want to limit the player base anymore than they have to.

Bethesda is using a completely new engine to run this game. So I doubt whatever worked for Fallout 3 will matter. I'm going to be safe and upgrade everything. Get an Asus or a m15x in my opinion. Their worth the coin.

I read this wrong the first time and beer nearly blasted out of my nose.

I don't expect the requirements to really be that much higher than they were for Oblivion. Skyrim is designed for identical hardware, they just know how to use it better now. It's all a matter of how well they optimized the PC version.

I just got a new laptop, so I am sure it will run it but I am wondering if it will run better/smoother than on a XBox 360 without having to screw around with the settings too much.

I got a Dell XPS15
Proc: Intel i7 740M ~ 1.73 ghz with turbo boost to 2.83
RAM: 8 GB DDR3
Video card: GeForce Go 435M w/ 2gb VRAM

The video card is what I am concerned about since it is essentially the equivalent to a GeForce 8800GT desktop card.

Do you think this will run it better than my XBox 360?

If it really is the equivalent of an 8800GT (Sorry, I don't really keep up with all the new mobile chips), you'll be better off with PC, as the Xbox and PS3's graphics cards are roughly equal to a 7800/7900GT.

Edit: I'm guessing that the system requirements will go something like this

Minimum:
Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo or Athlon II X2
Video Card - Geforce 7800GT or Radeon 2900XT (IIRC those were about equal, but I wasn't a PC gamer back then, so I could be off)
RAM - 1GB (2 for Vista/7)
Hard Drive - 10 GB of free space
OS - Windows XP 32bit
CD/DVD drive

Recommended:
Processor - Intel ix series or AMD Phenom (Maybe Athlon X3)
Video Card - Geforce 8800GT or Radeon 48XX
RAM - 2GB (3 or 4 for Vista/7)

Of course, this is assuming that they ARE using DX9, and the PC version will not be significantly more advanced than the consoles.

OK, thanks.

Maybe I will just pick it up for both PC and XBox 360 and see which one I like more or performs better.

Personally I'm not that concerned about the system requirements. I, as with alot of people I'm sure, plan on building a new computer specificlly for Skyrim (and beyond). My current system is alright. It kicked butt back in '05-06 but not so much anymore (s939 x2). I was already planning my next build but then Skyrim was announced so I figure I'll ride my current system out and just buy peice's here and there throughout the year.

Alot has changed in the PC component industry and it is not as expensive as it once was considering what you're getting.

I am undecided wheather I want AMD or Intel, but by the time Skyrim is released I'll have some sort of multicore/sli gaming behemoth and I'm quite excited.

My card is a ATI 5470 normally when I get bethesda games I go for the ps3 but this time I may go for the PC if it can handle it. If not at least I'll have the PS3 version.

Your specs run circles around Consoles, you'll be fine. apparently Skyrim is being made equal across all current platforms (namely Ps3 360 and PC)

Since we're posting system specs, I might as well.

CPU: i7 740
GPU: ATI 5870
RAM: 6 GB

I'm hoping I'll be able to run it with at least high settings.

Any well configured PC built in the last five years should be able to run Skyrim just fine. My XP 5000+, 8800GT and 2GB ram system (built in 2008 and hardly high-end then) had no problems with New Vegas, or mass effect 2. I expect it to run both Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 later this year. The upside to everything being locked into XBox360/PS3 hardware stats.
