When will there be new info?

Post » Fri Oct 08, 2010 12:07 am

I'm sorry if this has been discussed; I looked through several pages of the forum and didn't see any such topic. I know Game Informer is covering the game throughout the month or whatever, but I was wondering if anyone was aware of a specific timeline of information being released or anything like that? It'd be easier if I knew so I could just wait instead of constantly searching for the latest updates.

There's no official timeline, but Mr. Tissue Box tweeted one of the Game Informer guys (I think it was Andrew Reiner) and asked him when the next update to the hub would be. Reiner replied that they have plenty planned for this week regarding the hub, but no set dates.

Edit: It was Andrew Reiner, but oddly enough when I looked for the tweet on Reiner's twitter I couldn't find it. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1157500-behind-the-scenes-of-skyrim/page__view__findpost__p__16958612 is a link to Mr. Tissue Box's post on the subject.

It's hard to use past actions to predict what Bethesda is going to do here: the time frame is much shorter and they've never had an event like QuakeCon when showing off a BGS title.

I believe Pete mentioned that we'd been seeing Skyrim in other magazines soon and given the pace of the FONV unveiling I think there's a good chance that GI's preview will be followed up by a spate of international magazine previews. GI probably has an exclusivity agreement and it may be as long as a month or it may not be. After that we'll probably see interviews at the larger game sites.

If we're lucky there will be a gameplay trailer at E3 and a second one at QuakeCon. However Bethesda may instead have private showings at E3 and not release public footage until QuakeCon. It will be very interesting to see how the con season is handled either way, there are a lot of major events between June and the game's release.\

This is all speculation on my part and again it's hard to predict what they're going to do - I was certain enough that TES V wouldn't be shown at the VGAs that I was gaming through them and didn't know about the announcement until two hours after it happened :D

With Rage ready to ship a couple months after Quake con, I personally believe the focus will be on DOOM 4. If TES was to hold off on a live demo until Quake con, it'd totally steal id's thunder. We predicted the announcement of skyrim a few months after the release of New Vegas because it'd be a lot of weight for the marketing department to carry, I think the same scenario applies here.

They'll probably make an E3 demo, and give a hands on demo at quakecon.

I'm pretty sure we'll be getting reviews from other sites starting at the beginning of February. If Bethesda has enough of the game done they'll want to show it off, see if any mistakes are made, and then fix them in time for E3 or later.

@hungry donner if we're lucky we may see a gameplay trailer at e3? I'm pretty sure bgs is going to e3 with more than screenshots. After all they had a lot of footage for oblivion at e3 and this years e3 will be five months before release.

I mean, I'm dying to know more too, but considering they just announced it last month, they've already given out plenty of information. Patience... Also, Gameinformer is devoting the whole month to Skyrim, so try Gameinformer.com

So I should think, Bethesda generally, and the TES series specifically, has a huge following in Europe, and I am sure I am not the only one dismayed and slightly peeved by a lack of coverage this side of the pond so far - it's not as if it would impact on Game Informer sales (since it's not sold here!) if European gaming magazines (that aren't sold over there!) carried a Skyrim feature at around the same time. As it is we're left feeling like the poor trashy cousins that no-one wants turning up at their wedding. :banghead:

When Bethesda first showed Oblivion at E3 it was restricted to private demonstrations - if you weren't there you didn't get to see it and while the press wrote quite a lot about the demonstration that's different than released game footage. The showcase was eventually filmed and released to the public but this was months later.

In general Bethesda hasn't used E3 for really big announcements, they've focused more on playable demos and private demonstrations. Now the first FO3 gameplay footage was shown during a Microsoft E3 event, the game having been only recently unveiled, and I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see something similar happen with Skyrim . . . but I also wouldn't be surprised if we didn't get gameplay footage either.

I think Mikedzines is correct that Bethesda wouldn't want Skyrim to overshadow id's presence at QuakeCon. However I do think they can have several major releases at the con without stepping on eachothers' toes. August seems rather later for the first publicly released gameplay footage, perhaps E3 will give us a taste and QuakeCon will follow up with something more substantial.

I hope too see some Screenshots or artwork this weekend from Game Informer. (saturday or sunday)

I loved that artwork where that bear was eating a mammoth or something. And that guy who weared a viking helmet and a shield on his back and was holding a sword and a staff made me
