Where are all the daedra?

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 4:30 am

Falmer are in the game. And, were they even in Morrowind?

And Golden Saints weren't creatures.

Yeah in bloodmoon expansion, they were called rieklings.
"Foul creatures. Some call them the Falmer, claim they are related to the other elves. This I do not know, but they are vile. Some are intelligent enough to speak, but they speak only nonsense. — Risi Ice-Mane"

They actually had eyes, they were smaller if I remember right and some of them could speak.
But skyrim is set long time after morrowind so maybe they have changed.
Still, it's said in skyrim that they are only seen in the deep dwemer ruins, so why aren't they in dwemer ruins in morrowind??

I know gold saints aren't creatures but I just wanted to see them in skyrim because they're so cool

What about creatures like the Daedroths? If I'm not mistaken, they are servants of Molag Bal. Or the Dark Seducers and Golden Saints or the Winged Twilights? Why haven't we seen any of these creatures?

I still debate whether Rieklings are actually Falmer though, since there are contradicting claims in Blood Moon. Riekling Boar riders were awesome though, I wish they had actual Rieklings in Skyrim. Maybe DLC?

I also wish that waters would be a dangerous places with some very powerful and huge monsters, so you would think twice about crossing a river or getting into a sea.

Did you read the rest of the thread ? We went into that discussion already.

Yes. Did you read my post where I said I realize the question is already answered but I explained it anyway. Are you ok with that?

Yeah I mean your point was already refuted on the basis that the seal could be no different from the seal that existed. Thus making the whole points about the seal in Oblivion moot.

Martin Akatosh reaffirming his pact has nothing to do with the lack of Daedra in Skyrim The Devs just didn't Make alot of Daedric Varieties in Skyrim plain and simple.

Daedra were prevalent in Oblivion because Uriel was slain and no septim had the Amulet to hold up the pact made between alessia and Akatosh FULL STOP. the only thing the pact does is stop Daedra from coming in on whims of everyday man en mass. Daedra can still come and go as they please or rather PRINCES can still come and go as they please and Dagon wasn't singled out, his realm isnt called "Oblivion" Oblivion is everything outside of Mundus. why do you think Sheogorath was able to erect a portal after the crisis? he didnt break the rules it was an invitation.

and the Portals Made during Oblivion into the Deadlands are circumventing the Rules simple as that.

The lack of Daedra is the Dev's doing nothing more.

Haha, I don't. I'm scared enough of the stupid Slaughter Fish in there. Every time one bites me while I'm swimming it scares me. I don't expect it.

Although it would be kind of cool to have some sort of under water monsters. Like you said, you'd have to think twice about going swimming.

Yeah DLC with them would be cool, even better if it would be set on Solstheim, I wonder how castle karstaag would look like in a new engine.

The whole point I am getting at however is that the situation in Skyrim is not so different from the situation in Morrowind when it comes to the seal protecting Tamriel from Daedra.

After the Oblivion crisis there was a big push to rid Tamriel of all still existing Daedra, such as the Vigiliants of Stendarr.

Molag Bol has almost no real power in Skyrim. He was able to toss around some objects near his shrine, but he didn't have the power to open a portal. I believe there is a book that says the ability on an entity to perform miracles or other supernatural feats is proportional to the amount of worship it receives.

Heck, most of the Daedric have a pitiful amount of influence and therefore they have a relatively pitiful amount of power.

You bring up something interesting. While I dont want DLC any place we've been before, or in a place that would resemble Skyrim aesthetically, I would like to go to Atmora, since Karstaag could have arguable been a Atmora island hopping Giant, and you could see plenty of them. You could also make it very cold obviously, but still have it totally different than Skyrim, by going overboard on ice and crystals, and just 'alien' types colder climate scenery. We could have Rieklings, Frost Giants like Kar, real wild men of the north (Tribal men left over etc). You could do anything. Have Atmora a prison colony of the 'new' Empire and pull a Escape From Atmora DLC.

Mol I believe there is a book that says the ability on an entity to perform miracles or other supernatural feats is proportional to the amount of worship it receives.

This is correct. A Daedra Lords power, and even existence is based entirely on the mortals willingness and aptitude to worship and fulfill the personifications of his 'realm'. If destruction ceased to exist, so would Dagon, for example. This is why they don't die and cant be killed, unlike Aedra. They will simply cease to exist.

Bethesda puts in so much to the backstory of tamriel that they force themselves to remove nice features from their new games like for example enemies. :shakehead:

Also because of that they break the lore because they're not adding some features to the games that supposed to be there such as arenas in skyrim

There is no rule against summoning any kind of daedra after the Oblivion Crisis. Dagon himself summoned his daedra at his shrine, it was just beths decision, and even so it doesn't make sense why noobish summoners stopped cutting their teeth on weaker Daedra before moving onto the more advanced Atronachs.

What function would the Daedra serve other than providing another cardboard cutout for the player to run a sword through?

The amulet of kings is destroyed, Oblivion IS NOT sealed permanently.

There are no Oblivion gates because these belong to Mehrunes Dagon, and he is banished.

Spoiler
Or did you not understand this is how Alduin is able to return? Basically lost in time unless the empire is in violation of the covenant. You can also summon an unbound dremora, this would not be possible if oblivion is sealed, or even if Mehrunes Dagon's plane was sealed.

Dagon's plane it sealed. Oblivion in its totality isn't. Meaning Dagon has limited power and cannot create portals to funnel out Daedra. But, they can be transported to Mundus with the assistance of another, such as a mage or Daedric Prince.

And, Alduin was svcked into the space between time by an Elder Scroll and flung back in at the start of TESV

Yet Dagon summons his own Dremora to Nirn at the end of his quest.

Ding Ding Ding!

The whole 'sacrificing himself for the greater good' (the greater goood) thing would have looked rather silly for Martin if it was all for nothing. The gates of Oblivion were sealed, that was kind of the climix to the previous game.

Dong Dong Dong. Morrowind had Daedra all over the place.

Daedra are immortal, they were probably there for a long, long time.

Also, that was before Dagon injured by Martin.

The atronachs are out wandering. They can still be on the physical plane. It's curious that there is so few Daedra in this game. Not really sure why they have taken them out, and leave so few. I would have liked to see some new Daedra.

They were taken out most likely because they couldn't fit everything on a console's game disc, so theres another aspect of Skyrim you can chalk up to for being developed for consoles and why you shouldnt be developing 2011 software on 2006 hardware. Any reasoning for lore just seems like a cop out excuse.

Alduin was cast into the future a discrete distance of time. The prophecies were simply an indication of when, not that they were directly responsible.

By the way, people crying about lack of varieties of Daedra... the Daedra aren't a major threat in Skyrim. There's no real reason for Bethesda to design more Daedric enemies than would need to be used.

Honestly, other than returning to Mehrune's Dagon shrine to farm, I've faced 7 Dremora (other than the unbound Dremora) in the natural course of playing the game. Every other Daedra was in the service of a summoner. The daedra have been mostly wiped out. Only those who are of use remain.

That is not correct, he is lost in time and sealed out by Akatosh's covenant... able only to return when mankind is in violation of the covenant.

The fact that you can summon an unbound dremora and have it fetch a sigil stone for you is indication that it is business as usual after the oblivion crisis.
