Where are all the daedra?

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 7:24 am

In any event I'm glad there are virtually no daedra. I got enough daedra in Oblivion to last me for a long long time. I am absolutely utterly sick of daedra. Maybe in 10 years or so I'll be ready to face more then 2-3 daedra in a game but not now.

By the way, people crying about lack of varieties of Daedra... the Daedra aren't a major threat in Skyrim. There's no real reason for Bethesda to design more Daedric enemies than would need to be used.

It's an RPG. Cutting all non-essentials kind of defeats the purpose entirely, don't you think? Then again, I would say variety is essential for RPG's anyway.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were cut in favor of children. Or snowflakes. Damn snowflakes.

Spoiler
The fact that you can summon an unbound dremora and have it fetch a sigil stone for you is indication that it is business as usual after the oblivion crisis.

How? Your still allowing it passage to Mundus by summoning it.

It has everything to do with lore.

The gates to Oblivion were sealed when Martin broke the Amulet of Kings. Lesser Daedra like Scamps, Clannfears and Daedroth cannot make it out of Oblivion.

Except these "gates" weren't present in Morrowind, yet they where all over. Besides we should still be able to summon them, they just cant come of their own will anymore. I truly hope they do a DLC with the Daedra.

The gates opened because Uriel Septim IV was killed and the Dragonfires were extinguished. Then, Martin sacrificed himself to seal the gates. The daedra of Dagon's plane may only travel between Mundus and Oblivion with the help of another individual trained in the way to do so, such as a conjurer.

they weren't a threat to morrowind, Daggerfall or in Arena but they were still there and in variety. me thinks people saying Oblivion is the reason there aren't any Daedra REALLY need to go read the Lore again

Which since the Pact is how its ALWAYS been Bosstealth, because the Heartland elves summoned them with Impunity, and later Normal men/mer summoned them as armies vastly breaking the balance between factions in Tamriel.

This is irrelevant. You pretty much just reinforced my statement...

Play Morrowind, you will find no gates, yet there are tons of Daedra, which means there must be some other way for them to enter mundus of their own accord. You can't tell me they where all summoned by people.

Anyway, could a Daedra summon a Daedra? I mean if a dremora broke free of a conjurer couldn't it summon more daedra into Mundus?

Then they have either been there for a long time (Daedra are immortal) or the seal under the dragon fires was not as strong as Martin's sacrifice, so Dagon could let small amounts of them out.

There were daedras in Morrowind because that place is use to worship the Daedra Lords all time. Daggerfall wise, ya have to be high level for them to even show up and even then, its like 1 out 100, which ancient vampire and lich being in the same leveled list. Arena is already moot as the starting point and consider high tier monster list.

The thing about this is that there already been 2 games that deal with these Daedria Invasion (Battlespire and Oblivion). Oblivion just make sure that they cannot go to Mundus that easily anymore then they did in teh past.

And beside, we need something else in their place in the conflict and I am glad it isn't a Daedra theme again.

Correct.
The pact ensures Daedra princes cannot open Oblivion gates at will and send mass armies through.
But there have always been minor daedra that made their way to Tamriel.
Conjurers, powerful witches can summon daedras on certain days.

They cant crash the party anymore, but they can still be invited.

I am glad we have stepped away from the Daedra being the main focus of the story. I just wish there was a greater variety of them than there are in this game. I am glad that in Skyrim they are not around every corner but I wish in the places they are at there was more types of them than there as are.

While we're on the topic of adding more variety of creatures to the game, could we please have the occasional but rare appearance of a feral werewolf? It could be one the NPC jobs that show up from time to time

Not really, it's a logical assumption.
