Where are all the daedra?

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 11:39 pm

Why are there no hungers, daedroth, clannfears, scamps, etc in Skyrim?
Does this have something to do with the lore? Has it been that way in Skyrim or does it have something to do with the events in Oblivion?

Nothing to do with lore. At present, they are simply not in the game world.

EDIT: WOOT, Disciple rank!

It has everything to do with lore.

The gates to Oblivion were sealed when Martin broke the Amulet of Kings. Lesser Daedra like Scamps, Clannfears and Daedroth cannot make it out of Oblivion.

Ding Ding Ding!

The whole 'sacrificing himself for the greater good' (the greater goood) thing would have looked rather silly for Martin if it was all for nothing. The gates of Oblivion were sealed, that was kind of the climix to the previous game.

And that was only to one plane, not every one. And Dagon still has Daedra in his shrine.

Not sure TC. The lack of Daedra outside of shrines really is mind boggling. Although atronachs are Daedra.

What about the ones that represent the other Daedric princes, like Winged Twilights, Hungers, and Golden Saints? Do the Oblivion gates have anything to do with this? Just asking because I don't really know.
We have Dremora at least.

Those were Dagon's Daedra.

Which is the point. They can obviously still traverse from plane to plane.

But, they can't make it out.

Obviously they can since there's still atronachs and the only plane that was 'closed' was Dagons.

Did Martin only seal out Dagon and his Daedra. Because Sanguine manifested himself in the mortal world.

You have to summon Atronachs. They can't freely traverse from Oblivion to Mundus without the help of another person, be it a mage or a Daedric Prince.

The atronachs are out wandering. They can still be on the physical plane. It's curious that there is so few Daedra in this game. Not really sure why they have taken them out, and leave so few. I would have liked to see some new Daedra.

Which proves my point. Not all realms of Oblivion were 'closed off' to Nirn.

Basically, Nirn is protected from all realms of Oblivion thanks to Martin's sacrifice at the end of the game, Oblivion. It's not impossible for Daedra to show up, such as through summoning, and the Princes can still wield some influence. However, you're not going to see the damn things running around everywhere, doing as they please, precisely because that's what the events of Oblivion were all about preventing.

To use a Star Trek anology...

Nirn is the Enterprise.
Daedra are like Klingons trying to beam through the shields.
Martin got himself killed repairing said shields, which means you only see a Klingon or two, instead of a monstrous legion which would inevitably wreck the whole damn world...um, ship.

I really would like to see more Daedra, but I don't think that they really fit Skyrim's atmosphere very well. I mean... A Imp could do, but a Scamp in the middle of the Tundra? Not so much.

I may have worded my first post wrong.

Dagon's realm was sealed off. Which is why Dagon's daedra do not appear in Skyrim.

I have seen some free wandering flame atronachs wandering the northern snowy lands. With nothing else around.

I know Dagons Deadland was sealed that is what I was wondering when I seen a few random flame atronachs wandering around it does not make sense.
