Where are all the people?

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 9:52 am

Got my key a few hours ago, downloaded and installed the game and to my desmay, there's hardly any EU servers populated, like 6 or 7 total. What's going on with this, the demo had a colossal crowd playing it, in the full game it's a total desert. Something wrong on Crytek's end or is there really so few people playing the multiplayer?

I would guess that they are doing single player first. That also gives a better chance that when you finish single player and go to muliplayer some of the bugs will be fixed (fingers crossed)

If you set filters to show Europe-only, a lot of european servers are gone from the list too, that's what I experienced.

The whole multiplayer section of this game is a screwed up beta-phase something. They just lied to sell their game, simple as that.

It seems that along with mine, everyone's server on Gametracker has zero players. As you can see the odd person has been on lol. Gametracker doesn't support Crysis 2 yet hence I had to add my server as a Crysis one.

People beeing in SP definatelly accounts for some missing people but it's nowhere near enough. Seriously, there's a total of about 50 people playing the MP from all of Europe, that's not right.

Yeah I am doing that, maybe I'll doing a global search and see the ping values returned, that should find me local servers as long as they're beeing accounted for.

The MP outside the game is pretty disappointing. Cmon, we still have matchmaking lobby and we're locked out of choosing our next map, what the hell... It's things like this that make me think TF2 is my de facto multiplayer game, while nearly everything else (outside Valve games at least) is just stuff to pick up every once in a while. The gameplay is as good as the demo at least and I enjoy it, but the entire game just feels like a glimpse of what could be a real game instead of what we have now.

At least I didn't have troubles reclaiming my LE code. Guess I'll hop into the SP and hope that in mean time the whole MP is a little more functional. Beeing friday, no chance of that until mid/end next week, at the very earliest.

**** disappointing.

I feel the same mate. And it's broken even in-game. Not the mechanics really, but there must be something with the network, sometimes it feels laggy in a weird way. I'm not really whining, because eventho I get killed in weird ways, I get weird frags too, so... But there's definitely something going on with pings and networking stuff. (Frequent disconnects prove that, topics are all around the forums about it)

The statistics, ranks, XP gaining, assessments, unlocks, customization is all screwed up right now. I have to unlock my custom class stuff over and over again every time I join, and all my nanosuit functions are still lvl1. Also I only played some unranked and only 1 ranked match so far, but I am lvl6. And I had like 1 kill, 5 deaths with 2 losses according to my stats.... What?
The server browser, matchmaking (quick match) and the lobby are a mess. I won't even go into that, it's obvious and everyone can see it.

But the fact that you can't customize graphics in multiplayer is what makes me really really angry and disappointed about this purchase.
This is an unfinished something. Single player is great, but multiplayer is a beta.

I'm sorry I'm not the ranting type at all, but what happened to the QUALITY Crysis and Crytek is known for? The problem aren't really the bugs to me (they can be fixed later), but the lack of graphics settings for mp is what makes me utterly disappointed. That's not how you handle your PC fanbase.
I'll just play through the campaign (which is awesome) and wait for some patches. Hopefully they can get these features sorted out, because the game itself would be quite good.

I'm not playing TF2 but I know what you're talking about, I feel the same way about Quake Live, it's my main game (I bought Crysis2 as a "secondary" multiplayer game). And eventho it's still in the making and developed week-by-week and it is not a big title like Crysis, it is still more polished than any other game around.

The game is crap? That's why they withdrew the demo servers (and didn't bother to tell anyone)?
Makes sense.
Thanks for the info, that'll save me money.

Demo was 2 weeks only, it was announced beforehand.
Also, the game is not a crap essentially. It is, right now, because a lot of key features are broken (mp) and some annoying bugs occour in campaign too. But it is not a crap and I'm sure it will be fixed.

I finished campaign some hours ago, it is amazing.
