Where are all the players?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 11:48 am

Ok I don't know if this is just a console problem but I'm playing Brink on PS3 and I can't find any match with players other than freeplay and standard.
And even there I only find 1 match, I always join the same one. I cannot believe there are only 8 PS3 players ... I mean come?
This is getting ridiculous.. :/

Theres alot more ps3 players. But i have been having problens getting on. There are alot of clans and such you could join.

I am in The Dream Team. We are a bunch of people from these very forums that got together to make a clan.

If you like playing together with a great team for the fun of it. You might want to check us out.

I know what you mean every time i play(which isnt often) i keep getting the same people with 4 humans on each side

my best 2 biggest complaints with this game are:
1. Lack of a Community (PS3) i think its cause this game came out while psn was down n that it was thrashed in reviews

2. No sense of TeamWork amongst Randoms, I choose my class based on whats missing but it seems everyone is picking Medic and then ignoring most people in favor of Kills

Yeah, when I do get in a match people tend to group up on 1 side, all matches I've played were 2vs5 - 1vs6 - ... and so on. No competition at all, which is sad. :/
I wished big teams was the standard. 8 vs 8 should be so cool.

That's why SP should add "any" rank in rank availibility, not only My rank and higher.

yep i seen plenty teamhopping when one side appears to be winning and with the games never full of humans its legit and it ruins the balance of the game for me and probably plenty of others

Playing better games.

Brink's not a bad game but i know its not a game for everyone that much is clear, Brink tried something "new" on consoles and in my opinion failed'

It was promising but failed by trying so hard not to be call of duty it missed the accessibility such as lobbies

and what also made people come back to these such as gun unlocks and attachments and leveling

you can get all the gun and attachments in about 30 mins and level is capped at 20 with no way to start again n keep your universal abilities

I liked Brink and i respect SD for trying something new instead of trying to topple CoD with a clone of CoD (Kz3 C2 Breach etc)

In my opinion its too late to salvage this game and ive almost quit it entirely but ill stick around the forums cause there's intelligent, and passionate people who enjoy games

A small number playing campaign, but I usually find 4v4 games in Competition. Haven't tried Big Games yet because of the lag that strikes when certain players join.

I just spent a few hours playing Brink online, and it really needs to be addressed by the developers. I could only find players in standard, and even then I got matched with complete muppets.
Escort the hostage... "Great, let's not have the three medics anywhere near the hostage."

Changing games did not help as the first decent game I entered started to develop lag after three minutes.

Then there was the glitching lights with heavy machine guns.

I can't wait for things to be straightened out. It really can be so much fun if it runs smoothly and if it is a well balanced match.

I did this by mistake once but i changed guns and it was fine but i "thought wow this is kinda awesome...too bad there so inaccurate or i might care"

Ive had one really epic game where i won it in the last 20 secs and was like "damn no way to save that and show it to others"

other than that ive quit everything game do to being insta-killed cause of lag and stupid randoms who pick medic so they can absorb damage and heal themselves faster

The other night, I had my first ever set of matches (3 in a row before I had to leave) of a full game of people, 6-8 people on each team at any one time. It was really great.

Every other time I've been on, it's a bunch of bots and 2-4 actual people. I'm not sure if it's just a result of what they did with the first patch to kind of bandaid the lag situation or not, but it really hurts the game online.

So much potential here. I really hope they can sort it out with this upcoming patch.

Well an easy fix to this is to add people you play with. Then join their games. Their friends join in. Your friends join in and hopefully (before too long) you have a full team. I think this is what the developers wanted; however it didn't really work out. Last night I had a good time playing with six other dudes. If you find yourself going it alone on a team just try and stick it out. Maybe one of your homies will hop on.

Also ignore Chaos Isaac. He's been trolling these threads and never says anything positive.

u can also add me as well, raddbj03, on ps3.

the game doesn't have a true party system and the matchmaking isn't very good, but you can join friends or send invites to friends once your in a game. kinda behind the times but it works.

i agree with this but lobbies have been around forever and to not have them here is ridiculous and lazy

the lag is unbearable in most cases and when i leave to join another game it puts me back in the game i left

also as much as i enjoy new company for every game i cant seem to find anyone who has a mic and likes to joke and laugh...its all business and to me thats no fun

i like winning but its not everything and i dont mind losing as long as we had fun and fought hard

Regardless of what BRINK is, how unique it is or isn't, or how willing or unwilling people are to adopt it, the fact is, not many people enjoy it and find it fun. I believe this is largely in part to adopting a weapon system that is skill capped below what the average FPS puts out. I cannot stress enough, that it is not fun making weapons whose spread is so severe, 6 bullets into firing a weapon bullets will miss a body sized target 10 or less feet away. People enjoy a certain level of control over their weapon and how it performs, and that control simply is not there in BRINK. How the developers came to this decision is beyond me, but hopefully they will learn from this very expensive lesson.

Well, I play on the PS3. I have my gripes with the game but aiming was never one of them. I’ve encountered a few people with bad aiming; some even used full clips and barely hit their targets. My guess is the fast motion of the characters making it hard for some to pin point their targets. It was like that for me until I change the sticks sensitivity. I had no problem hitting targets since…no matter what weapon I use. Also, the attachments can help out a great deal.
